Teen aerialist Aidan Bryant is already a winner thanks to “AGT: All-Stars,” which aired in the winter of 2023. Now he’s back to defend his title in “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League,” where he’s a member of the fourth group of contestants that will take the stage on January 22 on NBC. In a Gold Derby exclusive video (watch above), judge Simon Cowell calls the Virginia teenager “pretty special” as he watches him fly through the air with ease.
Aidan performs his latest routine to the popular track “California Dreamin’.” His mentor, Heidi Klum, watches in awe as he dances through the air in front of an enormous tree with falling leaves. Heidi, Simon, Howie Mandel and Mel B give him a standing ovation at the end of clip, but you have to tune in Monday night to hear their individual comments.

Here’s how it works: each of the show’s judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and the aforementioned Spice Girl — will build a fantasy team comprised of 10 fan-favorite acts from AGT seasons past. As we near the conclusion of the first phase of the “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” competition, there’s one question on our mind: What do the superfans have against singers? Out of the 40 acts to perform in the first round so far, a quarter of them can be considered vocal talents, but only chorale group Detroit Youth Choir has advanced, and that was thanks to a Golden Buzzer from Terry Crews. The nine other singers failed to earn enough votes from the superfans and were eliminated, but why?
Among the singing acts eliminated so far are former Golden Buzzer acts Cristina Rae and Sara James as well as champions of “Canada’s Got Talent” and “Dominica’s Got Talent” Jeanick Fournier and Keren Montero. Both Jeanick and Keren placed within the top three with the superfans on their respective episodes, as did Caly Bevier and Ndlovu Youth Choir. None of...

The superfans on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” are a controversial bunch, and for good reason. At-home viewers are frustrated, maybe even a little jealous, that these delegates from all 50 states get to call the shots instead of them. (See how the voting process works.) Love ’em or hate ’em, the superfans are here to stay on “The Champions” as we approach the February 10 finale. But are they biased toward homegrown American acts, since they’re obviously already familiar with their stories? Or do the superfans deserve credit for voting for performers from all around the world? Let’s investigate.

Darci Lynne Farmer fans are outraged that this singing ventriloquist lost “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” We asked viewers of this “Agt” spin-off if they were happy that magician Shin Lim won the show on February 19. Deadly Games got the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum when they auditioned in the second episode of this spin-off of “Agt.” That sent husband and wife team Alfredo and Anna Silva straight through to the final. Among the other acts on the bill that night was Ramos, who had won “Spain’s Got Talent” in 2016 for her wild mash-ups of rock and opera.
The superfans were so taken with Ramos that they voted to put her to the final over singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer.

The “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” finale on February 18 will run for two hours beginning at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. The winner won’t be revealed by host Terry Crews till the very end of the show. This spin-off of “America’s Got Talent” brought together 50 acts from various editions of the franchise from around the world. Among the dozen finalists in contention for the title are the two most recent winners of “Agt”: singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer (2017) and magician Shin Lim (2018).
With the winner of “Agt: The Champions” being decided by specially selected fans of “America’s Got Talent,” it is all but certain that one of these two acts who had previously won the popular vote took the title. These so-called superfans, who came from across the country to attend the tapings in Los Angeles last fall, had originally spurned Darci Lynne when she competed in the second audition episode.

That meant that America did not get to vote for their favorites. Instead, producers turned to the superfans, a group of avid “Agt” viewers who were flown to Los Angeles from around the country to attend the tapings.

The last time that singer Angelica Hale and ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer faced off was in the final of “America’s Got Talent” in the summer of 2017. Farmer won that battle and claimed the million dollar prize and a chance to headline a casino show.
The pair were pitted against each other again in the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” They both competed on the final of this “Agt” spin-off, which aired on Feb. 11. Because this finale was taped last fall, it wasn’t possible to let America vote like it does during the live “Agt” shows each summer. Instead producers turned to a group of superfans that came from across the country to attend these tapings. They got to decide the winner of “Agt: The Champions.”

Brian Justin Crum only made it to fourth place on season 11 of “America’s Got Talent” in 2016. But he could well win the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” On Jan. 28, he won the superfans vote on episode 4 of this spin-off of “Agt” and secured a spot in next month’s final. (Watch his winning performance of “Your Song” in the video above.)
In so doing, he’s already done one better than two of the acts that did better than him on “Agt” – runners-up The Clairvoyants and third place finisher Jon Dorenbos didn’t make the cut when they contended on earlier episodes of “The Champions.” (Season 11 winner Grace VanderWaal isn’t taking part in this special edition of the reality competition.)

Kechi Okwuchi got the Golden Buzzer from judge Simon Cowell on the January 28 episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” This sent the singer straight through to the finals on this spin-off of “Agt.” That Angelica got the Golden Buzzer over the likes of two past winners of the main show — performance artist Kenichi Ebina (2013) and and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin (2015) — tells us to keep an eye on this talent in the final next month. Watch her winning performance of “You Are The Reason” by Callum Scott in the video above.
Kechi first came to fame on season 12 of “America’s Got Talent” in 2017. This plane crash survivor captured America’s heart with her incredible story. She made it to the top 10 and wowed the crowd with her cover of Estelle‘s anthem “Conquero.”
