Angelica Gamboa (Director/Producer/Editor/ Writer of "Make IT
Official") recently finished her thesis film, a SAG production, "Make
IT Official." Angelica graduated Occidental College (B.A. Art History
of Visual Arts with an emphasis in Film and Media Studies/ Minor in
Psychology) in May 2010. At Occidental College she kept active in the
Latina/o community through membership of both MEChA*ALAS, and Latino
Graduation Committee since 2006. She also co-founded SABOR in November
of 2009 and contributed to the LGBTQ community as treasurer for the
Queer Straight Alliance for the 2008 to 2009 school year. Her other
films include "Delusive Trip," a selection for the Occidental College
Film Festival 2010. Her first documentary, "Fast For Our Future," was a
joint project with her frequent collaborator Nelson A. Melgar. The film
based on the fast for immigrant rights, ran for the 21 days prior to
the presidential election of 2008. It started off as a school project
but led her to outreach to her community and go on-location to
interview main coordinators. In 2007 she produced an Honors thesis
film, "Doses," written and directed by Brandon Peters. The film
highlighted the over-medication of psychiatric drugs to children in the
United States. This is where she first gained experience working with
studio teachers, Los Angeles county film permits, and SAG actor.
Angelica's senior thesis comprehensives project "Make IT Official," a
story about the liminal space in identity, first screened the evening
of April 9th 2010 at Occidental College Thorne Theater.
