Evan Fein

American composer Evan Fein was born in 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio and
resides in New York City. He began playing the piano and composing at
the age of six and holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School
and a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. In
addition, he studied at the Freie Universitat Berlin and L'Ecole
Normale de Musique de Paris. His music, which often blends classical
European and vernacular American traditions, has been performed widely
throughout the world. Evan served as Composer-in-Residence for the
Canton (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra during the 2006-2007 season and is the
recipient of awards from the ASCAP Foundation as well as grants from
Meet the Composer. His works have been featured at Cleveland Public
Theatre as well as on public radio, have been choreographed by
performers from the Juilliard Dance Division, Mather Dance College and
Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theater, have been commissioned by
organizations including the Juilliard School and the Albany Symphony,
and have been performed by ensembles such as the Canton Symphony
Orchestra, the Vesuvius String Quartet, the CIM New Music Ensemble, and
the Cleveland Chamber Symphony. The recipient of a full scholarship,
Evan is (2010) enrolled in the C.V. Starr Doctoral program at
Juilliard.
