We love them, we hate them, and sometimes, we love to hate them. Villains are the driving force of just about every story, and there was no shortage of great ones in 2013's movies. Whether they were violent and weapon waving, or quiet and slyly insinuating, last year's films were full of great antagonists of every sort.

Spec Ops: The Line is the ninth title in the long-running Spec Ops shooter franchise, but the game takes a whole new story and, in part, direction. Players are thrown into a hellish version of Dubai, after the billionaires' backyard has been lost to the sands and outright madness. The single-player campaign goes big for narrative and the dark premise appears intriguing, but is the game worth the tag of 'BioShock in the desert'? Spec Ops: The Line takes inspiration from Heart of Darkness, the classic story from Joseph Conrad, which also underpinned the acclaimed Vietnam War movie Apocalypse Now.
