Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna, two members of the Air National Guard stationed at Fairchild Air Base near Spokane, Wash., probably knew a picture of them in uniform breastfeeding their children would ruffle some feathers. But coming just weeks after Time magazine ran a cover photo of a woman breastfeeding her three-year-old child, they may be getting more attention than they intended.
The picture was taken as part of a Facebook campaign launched by Mom2Mom, a support group for military moms and spouses at the base. Program coordinator Crystal Scott tells Fox News the goal of the campaign was to make people realize that moms can still serve their babies while serving their country.
"Soldiers are allowed to smoke, drink and chew tobacco in uniform," Scott said. "We hope to open minds about military and civilian breastfeeding in private or public."
