Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour may not technically be magic, but you might be forgiven for wondering if it could be. As captured in Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé — which the star also wrote, directed and produced — the stage concert is never short on jaw-dropping delights: acrobatic choreography and soaring vocals, designer outfits upon designer outfits, sets that seem to dwarf the very arenas they’re in. Above all, there’s the sheer pulsing ecstasy of a crowd who feed off their queen’s energy and reflect it back to her a thousandfold.
But if magic can be exhilarating, getting to see how the trick is done can be an even deeper pleasure. Were Renaissance the movie simply a recording of the show, it’d be a treat in itself. By weaving in behind-the-scenes footage and interviews that reveal where Renaissance came from and how it got to be here,...

Beyoncé paid homage to a fan who was fatally stabbed over the weekend in a possible hate crime.
After hearing the heartbreaking news that O’Shae Sibley, a professional dancer, was killed at a Brooklyn gas station, Beyoncé honoured the 28-year-old on her official website, writing: “Rest In Power O’Shae Sibley.”
On Saturday, Sibley was voguing to a Beyoncé song, surrounded by his friends, when he was suddenly targeted by a group of men who viciously attacked him. One of Sibley’s friends, Otis Pena, happened to be documenting the night out, filming Sibley’s dance moves for a Facebook Live post. In his video, the group of men are seen approaching the dancer and his pals while shouting gay slurs. Things eventually escalated and Sibley was stabbed.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” producer World of Wonder has revealed a trailer for “Big Freedia Means Business,” an eight-part docu-series that follows “Queen of Bounce” Big Freedia.
A subgroup of 1980s hip-hop music, Bounce music has defined much of contemporary hip-hop culture. The series follows New Orleans choirboy-turned-Bounce rapper Freddie “Big Freedia” Ross, Jr., as she juggles new business ventures, touring, and the ups and downs of her personal relationships. This season Freedia begins work on opening a hotel; starts a cannabis line; and prepares to launch her own beauty and fragrance lines. The series will also chronicle the launch of a new album, set to drop later this year.
After having her music sampled by Beyoncé for “Formation,” Big Freedia was featured on “Break My Soul” from Beyoncé’s album, “Renaissance.” She released the album “3rd Ward Bounce” on Asylum Records in 2018. In 2019, Big Freedia and Kesha released their pop single “Raising Hell,...

It's almost impossible to open TikTok right now and not see someone dancing or strutting their stuff to iCandy's viral hit "Keep Dat." iCandy is a rapper from Pompano Beach, Fl. She's been making music since she was in high school and turned 27 this past February. As for "Keep Dat," iCandy released the song in November 2022, which has two versions: the explicit "Keep Dat N*gga" and a clean edition simply called "Keep Dat." The song hit the Billboard charts for the first time in those dated May 13, debuting at No. 40 on Hot R&b/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 15 on the Hot 100's Bubbling Under.

In the longview of hip-hop's 50 years, it's extremely rare to truly have one undisputed king or queen of a city or a subgenre - especially someone who's openly gay, identifies as gender-nonconforming, and uses fluid pronouns. And even among the few true "kings" and "queens" of rap, there usually comes a time when these icons no longer represent their inventions themselves and instead become a CliffNote in a newer artist's Grammy acceptance speech.
But New Orleans's Big Freedia has defied many norms in the past two decades as the reigning queen diva of bounce - one of hip-hop's most energetic dance genres, which you may know for originating twerking. She's become the go-to hype person to bring joy and explosive flair to some of today's biggest chart-topping hits, like Drake's "Nice For What" and Beyoncé's "Formation" and "Break My Soul." But it's her genuine love for and connection...

Big Freedia is redefining royalty with some New Orleans bounce.
The proclaimed “Queen of Bounce” has partnered with Netflix’s Strong Black Lead to create a “Hey Queen” bounce remix tied to the streamer’s forthcoming project, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.” The music video debuted on Monday.
Shot in Freedia’s home town of New Orleans, the video features appearances from the Hbcu royal court at Xavier University and was also directed by the artist’s longtime friend and collaborator Edward Buckle.
“I love that the whole idea of the show isn’t based on race and it has a lot of different characters in it, every different walk of life and the way that everyone sees different royalties,” said Freedia of the concept.
Freedia offered their own definition of royalty saying that it’s defined by class and grace. “It’s the moment where you get to sit on your throne,...

The iconic queen of New Orleans Bounce, Big Freedia, is back with a new upbeat dance single, “Central City Freestyle.” Listen to the track and watch its delightfully uninhibited video below.
Built around a lively beat with escalating layers of bass goodness — and a few classic build-ups and drops — “Central City Freestyle” is a vehicle for Freedia’s irresistible charm. Between her commanding presence as an Mc, the message of empowerment, and the literal dancing that this track will surely inspire, the grand sum embodies the best of what a booty-shaking party anthem can be.
For her part, Freedia attributes her performance to her hometown and community. “This song and video is one for the people of my city,” she said in a statement. “It was recorded in one take and it’s a Bounce Freestyle — raw and off the cuff — celebration of everything New Orleans!”

Release your job!” bellowed New Orleans rapper Big Freedia on Beyoncé’s summer 2022 single “Break My Soul”. Mere months later, some fans have jokily expressed their regret at taking this advice to heart. On Wednesday, the superstar singer announced the dates – and prices – for her Renaissance World Tour. And ever since the July release of Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed seventh album, Renaissance, casual fans and dedicated BeyHive members alike have been steeling themselves to pay the highest of prices to experience the songs live.
The singer has included five UK dates, all in May, in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Sunderland, plus two dates in London. But to the surprise of many, the ticket prices are not as extreme as feared. Though an on-stage, front-row ticket will set you back an eye-watering £2,400, general admission is priced between £56 and £199 – close to the prices for her previous UK stadium concerts in 2016 and 2018. Still, for some onlookers,...

Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters and Odesza are set to headline this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Paramore, Lil Nas X, My Morning Jacket, Sheryl Crow, Korn, Baby Keem and Paris Jackson will also perform at the four-day event on June 15-18 in Manchester, Tennessee.
Tickets go on sale Thursday. More than 100 acts will perform across 10 stages.
Other performers include Three 6 Mafia, Marcus Mumford, Alesso, Portugal. The Man, Jacob Collier, Tyler Childers, Big Freedia, J.I.D, 070 Shake, Sofi Tukker, Amber Mark and Girl In Red.
Tool, J. Cole and Stevie Nicks headlined last year’s Bonnaroo. The festival didn’t take place in 2021 because of torrential rainfall from Hurricane Ida that left much of the festival’s grounds, including campgrounds and tollbooth paths, waterlogged or flooded.
The festival was also axed in 2020 like most major music events because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Billboard has released their year-end charts for 2022 and Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” tops the Hot 100 singles. Released in 2020, the song enjoyed the longest journey to the top spot in Billboard history: 59 weeks. At 91 weeks, it is the longest charting song on the Hot 100 of all time, surpassing “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. But how did this year’s Record of the Year Grammy nominees fare?
See Will the Grammys do something ‘Unholy’ for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance?
Of this year’s contenders, “As It Was” by Harry Styles came out on top as the #2 song of the year. It topped the charts for 15 weeks, marking the longest-running #1 song by a UK act and the fourth overall in history. Not far behind was “Easy On Me” from Adele at #4. The lead single from her fourth disc, “30,” the song spent 10 weeks atop the chart, the longest of any female artist in the 2020s.

Kesha is a singer, songwriter, global pop superstar, paranormal investigator, and explorer of the unexplained. Though she is perhaps better known for her multiplatinum musical success, it is her fascination with the unknown that propels her pursuits these days. To put it simply, in her own words, Kesha is “totally addicted to ghosts.”
And in the Conjuring Kesha unscripted paranormal series, which she stars in and executive produces — currently airing on Travel Channel during the network’s seasonal “Ghostober” event, following its premiere on the discovery+ streaming service last summer — the artist has found a “reinvigorated lust for life” in the afterlife.
In a recent interview for my Talking Strange paranormal pop culture podcast, Kesha spoke to me about her six-episode series, which is touted as a journey into haunted hospitals, prisons with a demonic force, secret societies, a sasquatch hunt, and a home potentially occupied by Harry Houdini’s specter.

I’m good. I want to keep growing as an actor. Going back to Rigs — let him live in everyone else’s memories. Whatever that is, whatever he means to them, let him lay there.” However, let me be clear — Kitsch has no bad feelings about “Fnl”: “It was such a huge springboard for me, but I’m such a different actor now. It allowed me to explore the process, be fucking green and embrace it.”
Kitsch can currently be seen on Amazon Prime’s “The Terminal List” opposite Chris Pratt.

Big Freedia has plenty to celebrate this Pride Month. On Monday, it was revealed that the legendary New Orleans bounce artist is featured on yet another Beyoncé song (her first was "Formation") for the "Renaissance" singer's latest dance anthem, "Break My Soul." Thanks to a sample from Freedia's "Explode" and a renewed interest in house music, the anointed Queen of Bounce is feeling extra grateful for the moment she's having right now.
"I'm honored to be a part of this special moment, and I am incredibly grateful for all God's blessings."
"It feels surreal to be on a track with Beyoncé once again," Freedia tells Popsugar. "I'm honored to be a part of this special moment, and I am incredibly grateful for all God's blessings." Since the release of "Break My Soul," there's been an outpouring of fan love for Freedia - specifically for her contribution to the song's already-iconic hook.
