- Composer
David Lombardo is a guitarist, drummer, and music entrepreneur who has
worked with a wide variety of artists, most notably a few ex-American
Idol finalists. He has also worked with a number of high profile
artists in New York. Lombardo attended Purdue University in Indiana. He
was a former instructor at the Cady School of Music in Albany. Lombardo
was a member of the Empire State Youth Orchestra, and a 2006 winner of
the Louis Armstrong award.
In 2008, Lombardo's band, Springload (in which he played drums for at the time) owned and operated a music venue in Lafayette, Indiana, simply known as The Venue. The band consisted of Lombardo, Tim Billick, Nate Miller, and Paul Witkamp, all of whom were Purdue students at the time. The Venue became the premier venue around Lafayette and the focal point of the Purdue music scene, as well as the primary off-campus venue for the Purdue Student Concert Committee. The Venue hosted many bands, including Ludo, Squirtgun, and Spitalfield. Producer Mass Giorgini of Squirtgun released a live album on Go-Kart Records that was recorded at The Venue. Prior to The Venue, the business was known as Downtown Records and sold vinyl records and hosted live music.
In September 2009, a compilation album was released on Versailles Records that included two tracks from one of Lombardo's musical projects, Awake. The album was ultimately released in major retailers across the country as a tribute to the band Buckcherry.
