Oh sweet mother of mercy what a show. Sorry that this is late coming, but I was busy yesterday catching up on the earlier-than-expected third season of Game of Thrones - I'm proud to report that the 3,284 dueling clans of that dirty-haired epic have nothing on the destructive power of the Gallagher family. I'm in it for the laung haul!
Let's begin.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) tells Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) that he looks like a baby rabbit when he sleeps. She's still maneuvering the whole "moving to Ann Arbor" thing, and her latest solution involves her getting a job there and moving with all the kids. Jimmy is So into the idea.
Downstairs, Mandy (Emma Greenwell) wakes up Lip (Jeremy Allen White), who slept on the couch, to tell him she wants to get to school early so she can steal tater tots from the cafeteria for Mickey's wedding. There are...

At this point, the Gallaghers are as much of a Sunday tradition as a hangover. (Or church, whatever.) While this week's episode felt a bit like filler, it was still at least the booze-soaked, scam-pulling, child-endangering kind of filler that only Shameless can provide. Let's dig in!
After an intro shot of a sleepy household that delivers two servings of side-butt (thanks to Lip and Jimmy), Fiona (Emmy Rossum) gets out of bed, still stressed about the money situation. She goes downstairs and finds V (Shanola Hampton) wide awake on the couch - she's of course stressing over the fact that Kev's almost-ex-wife showed up out of nowhere. V points out that the house is quiet, so Fiona screams to wake the dead. (And even Carl.)
Speaking of screams that wake the dead, over at the Jackson house, Sheila (Joan Cusack) and Jody (Zach McGowan) are still struggling with baby...

After a solid but relatively restrained opener (as far as this show goes, anyway), this week's episode kicked things into high gear... and then stole the car. It also firmed up a theme that's always been hanging out in the wings but looks as though it may emerge as a central conflict of the season: namely, can poor people get ahead without resorting to crime? It's a big question, and spells big trouble for Fiona and Lip as they both try to provide for their younger siblings.
Speaking of Fiona (Emmy Rossum), she wakes up at the episode's start in a panic: she just handed their property tax money to a club manager for a crack at promoting a night. She tells Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) to "stop poking her" with his... well, Jimmy, and jumps into the shower for a full-blown panic attack. Jimmy gives her a pep talk while...

Welcome back, lovers of dysfunction, willful wallowers and aficionados of absolute disgrace - Showtime's trashcan opera Shameless is back for a third season of laughs, thrills, and all the rest. I hope that you put on your chin-pad, because your jaw is going to start hitting the floor in about 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) wakes alone in her charmingly messy bed to the sounds of standard Gallagher family chaos downstairs. Her shins are covered in red, itchy bites - yowch! Are bedbugs the new Karen Jackson? Because I don't think I'm ready for that.
Downstairs, Jimmy-nee-Steve (Justin Chatwin) has gotten half the clan out the door and is finishing up with Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) and Debs (Emma Kenney) - who has been keeping track of the number of days that Frank has been missing (oh - and Frank has been missing) with ribbons and cards on the front fence. For the record,...

Step into the Gallagher home on the Burbank, Calif., set of Showtime's "Shameless," and one is immediately impressed by the attention to detail.
The interior is vintage early 20th century Middle America. The off-white eggshell walls are dinged and dented. The moldings around the doors and windows are covered in glossy, light-green paint, with the brush strokes visible. In the bathroom stands a vintage 1920s porcelain pedestal sink complete with rust stains. And in the kitchen, the refrigerator is beaten up and the paint chipped.
"It's very important that it all feels like a house, that it feels cozy, that it doesn't feel fake," Emmy Rossum, who plays eldest daughter and de facto mother figure Fiona Gallagher, tells Zap2it. "That's why when we were in our rehearsal process, we actually used the fridge as our fridge. We would make lunches for the kids out of there, and it was all kind of real feeling.
