Laurie Ashworth

Laurie Ashworth is the daughter of Doctor Mike Ashworth, who is known
for his longstanding association with Wigan Athletic as its club
doctor. She was baptised at St Oswald's Church at Ashton-in-Makerfield.
She has attended both the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal
College of Music. She has the Royal Northern College of Music Gold
Medal and graduated with First Class Honours, then graduated with
distinction from the Royal College of Music with a Masters in Vocal
Performance. She won the Song Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and
she became a finalist in The Kiri Prize, a nationwide competition to
find a new operatic star. She is an experienced recitalist and has
performed at many of the UK's major venues. She made her BBC Proms
debut in 2012.
