Alex Leigh(IV)
- Actor
Alex was born in the leafy North East England. He was always intrigued
by the idea of acting on the silver screen and after leaving school at
the age of 18 he finally got his big break with a starring role in 'The
Social Network'. This came after minor credited roles in'Glamour Puds'
(Channel 4) and the 'Hairy Bakers' (at Henley regatta). Alex was
singled out as one of the major bright spots in the film which received
8 Academy Award Nominations. He was reported to have narrowly missed
out on a nomination for 'Best Supporting Actor', with the nod instead
going to Christian Bale for his portrayal of a crack cocaine addicted
ex-boxer in the film 'The Fighter', alongside Mark Wahlberg. Alex was
reported to be 'heartbroken' after this travesty. Soon after his
praised role in 'The Social Network', Alex was offered a part in the
Take That music video 'The Flood'. After a period of intense training
for 2 years as a full time rower, Alex felt he could bring enough
credibility and honesty to the role and accepted the part of an
'opposition rower' for a reported 4-figure sum. Upon release, the song
went immediately to number 1 in the UK charts, and the video attained
16 million views on you tube, bringing further fame and publicity to
the young actor. Now pursuing a degree, he is settling for bit-part
roles, such as the documentary 'Swap the sport 2.2' produced by
Newcastle University Courier. He is reported to reside in the North
East with his dog Tom.
