This sounds just about perfect. We've been following the development of filmmaking Dan Trachtenberg ever since his short Portal: No Escape blew up online a few years back. He's been attached to Y: The Last Man and a few other projects, but is now focused on developing a movie called Valencia, a secret micro-budget sci-fi story in development at Bad Robot set mostly in an underground cellar of sorts. Variety is now reporting that Trachtenberg has cast Mary Elizabeth Winstead to star in the film, which will also feature John Goodman (what - awesome?!) in the cast. I'm so glad this project is starting to actually come together. So what is Valencia about? From a script by Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken, revised by Dan Casey: "The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar...

John Goodman is in talks to star in upcoming thriller Valencia.
Dan Trachtenberg will direct the film, produced by Bad Robot and Insurge Pictures, a division of Paramount which distributes "micro-budget" projects.
The film is said to take place mostly in an underground cellar, following a young girl who loses consciousness in a car accident.
The girl - who is yet to be cast - awakes in the cellar with a mysterious man (Goodman), who tells her that the world has been devastated by a nuclear attack.
Goodman, perhaps best known for his roles in Roseanne and Argo, has worked with Paramount in the past, most recently voicing a Transformer in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Trachtenberg, who directed the short fan film Portal: No Escape, was named last year as the director of New Line's planned adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man.

Huge special effects movies are all well and good, but sometimes, to make an effective film, all you need is two people in a room – particularly when one of those people is John Goodman. That’s the way it is shaping up for Valencia – an upcoming thriller directed by Dan Trachtenberg (BlackBoxTV), for the low-budget specialising Insurge division of Paramount Pictures, and Bad Robot.
This will be Trachtenberg’s feature film directorial debut, and he will be working from a script by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, which was re-worked by Dan Casey. The story sees a teenage girl wake up in a cellar after a car accident. Her only companion in there is a strange caretaker, who explains that there has been a devastating nuclear attack on society, and they have taken shelter. John Goodman will star as the caretaker.
