Joe Manganiello recently said that he’s always “on the lookout for a good werewolf script” because he feels he has some unfinished business from his days of playing a werewolf on HBO series True Blood – but while we wait to see if and when he’s going to end up making a werewolf movie, Deadline reports that he has signed on to star in and produce a zombie thriller called Mountain Man.
Mountain Man is based on a series of novels written by Keith C. Blackmore. There are currently three books in that series, so if the movie is well-received there is some franchise potential here.
John Lee, whose previous credits include False Positive and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, is set to direct the film from a screenplay by Matt Deller. Mountain Man will tell the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the...

Keith C. Blackmore’s book series Mountain Man is headed to the screen, with Deadline reporting today that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is on board to star in the film adaptation.
The actor will also produce the upcoming zombie movie.
“Mountain Man tells the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the ever-present specter of a zombie attack, who struggles with alcohol abuse and suicidal thoughts until he discovers another survivor, a captivating woman who poses another threat altogether.”
John Lee (False Positive) will direct Mountain Man from a script by Matt Deller.
“John is a brilliant creative mind. We’ve been looking for the right thing to do together since we filmed Pee Wee’s Big Holiday and it’s finally here,” 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello told Deadline. “Very excited to get to work on such weird, wild project with him.”

Inspired by true events, “Shoplifters of the World” is set over the course of one night in the life of four friends who are reeling from the sudden dissolution of British band The Smiths. In “Archenemy,” Joe Manganiello plays Max Fist, who claims he’s a hero from another dimension who has somehow landed on Earth and been stripped of his powers. In other superhero movies, that might be the start of a rousing and upbeat redemption arc. In the hands of the producers of the gonzo art horror film “Mandy,” it’s something else entirely.
As the first trailer for the film makes clear, writer-director Adam Egypt Mortimer is using Max Fist to take a darker and grittier approach to the superhero genre.
Instead of treating him like a powerful champion, no one believes Max’s claims — except for a teenager named Hamster and his sister Indigo. The siblings convince Max to help them take out a local drug gang, where Max’s abilities are put to a violent and harrowing test.

Preconceived notions about the male entertainment industry can drive some viewers away from film content, and I myself had little interest in seeing Magic Mike when it was released in 2012. However, a timely discussion with local filmmaker Richard Linklater about Matthew McConaughey's stellar roles of that preceding year led to his recommendation of Magic Mike due to the depth of McConaughey's performance as male strip club owner Dallas.
Joe Manganiello co-starred as Big Dick Richie in the film, which became a smash hit. Manganiello was so inspired by the discussions about the film's related topics of "objectification and post-feminist relations between the sexes" and interest in the characters that he and his brother Nick Manganiello decided to capture the men's stories themselves. The 3:59 Incorporated production team went to the birthplace of male entertainment -- the first La Bare club in Dallas, Texas, which has been open since 1978 -- resulting in their documentary,...

Exclusive: Main Street Films has acquired distribution rights to La Bare, a documentary directed by Joe Manganiello about the history, lives and culture of the world’s most popular male strip club, La Bare Dallas. Manganiello, who played Big Dick Richie alongside Channing Tatum in the Steven Soderbergh-directed Magic Mike, made the film through 3:59 Inc., which is run by his brother, Nick Manganiello. The deal was worth mid six-figures for North American and Chinese rights and includes a commitment by Main Street to give the docu a 20-market U.S. theatrical release in the summer. This is a big deal for Slamdance and Manganiello came for the film’s Sunday night debut at the Treasure Mountain Inn, followed by a raucous Q&A featuring Elvis Mitchell and Manganiello, the True Blood star who’ll next be seen in Sabotage. “I was immediately impressed by Main Street’s excitement,...
