TV's 2014 Upfront presentations are currently under way, and while the horror news has been light so far, today it was AMC's turn, and they have several projects in development that caught our eye.
First, the thus far untitled "The Walking Dead" companion series has landed Dave Erickson ("Sons of Anarchy") as an executive producer and co-writer along with Robert Kirkman.
As Kirkman said previously, "After ten years of writing the comic book series... I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of 'The Walking Dead' universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."
Now, as for the rest, along with "The After," which is heading to Amazon, Chris Carter has "Area 51" in the works at AMC. Written by Carter and...

AMC has announced that The Walking Dead season 2 premiere will be a 90 minute episode. Even though Frank Darabont is no longer a part of the show, I'm still looking forward to the return of the series. I just hope it turn out good, especially with the budget cut. If I see the show is getting cheap and going down hill, I will trash it. The series is set to air on Sunday, October 16th at 9pm Et.

Hot on the heels of the news that AMC will be delivering a 90 minute premiere of The Walking Dead (read more here), the network has also announced two new series.
Jjk Security is executive produced by Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver from Left/Right (This American Life, Boomtown, Mob Wives). The show features a group of quirky characters who work at a small, family-owned private security company located in rural Georgia. Each episode will feature an investigation, a security assignment, the training of a new recruit, etc, but the real draw is what the network calls an "incredibly compelling character based story." AMC's Joel Stillerman, Senior Vice President of Original Programming, said “When we first saw the tape of Jjk we were speechless. It is unlike anything we have ever seen before - a true original.
