The story of the young "star-crossed" lovers is coming to a close. The CW has cancelled Star-Crossed after one season of 13 episodes.
Star-Crossed revolves around a pair of teens -- one human (Aimee Teegarden) and one alien (Matt Lanter) -- who fall in love and struggle to overcome the discrimination and distrust around them. The rest of the cast includes Grey Damon, Natalie Hall, Malese Jow, Titus Makin Jr., Chelsea Gilligan, Brina Palencia, and Greg Finley.
The series debuted as a mid-season replacement and never took hold in the ratings. The premiere drew a lackluster 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo with 1.28 million viewers. Subsequent episodes performed even worse, making Star-Crossed one of the network's lowest-rated shows.
There are just 13 episodes in the season and the finale, titled "Passion Lends Them Power," will air next Monday night.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings...

Okay, so, a lot of stuff went down during the fourth episode of "Star-Crossed," "And Left No Friendly Drop." But none of it was as amazing as the moment when Teri realized some blonde b**** from the opposing school purposefully poisoned Sophia, calmly took her earrings off and headbutted that witch to the ground. That's what happens when you mess with an Atrian!
Then, after Sophia was saved by Emery's quick thinking (and a stab from an epi pen), we bore witness the greatest melee ever involving high school students in speedos punching the crap out of each other. Best move: When Drake started to pull a dude from the opposing team out of the pool, then punched him back down. Take that! (Also, here was an awww-worthy moment: Eric and Drake glanced at each other mid-fight, then didn't punch each other. That's called progress, people!)

'Star-Crossed': Matt Lanter, Aimee Teegarden do Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' with an alien twist
The thing about Shakespeare is, it's easy to forget that there ever was a time when his plays didn't influence storytelling throughout the Western world. For example, take "Romeo and Juliet," the story of teenage "star-crossed lovers" from rival clans who fight through impossible odds to be together and get married.
Then they die.
Fortunately, there's no requirement to take Shakespeare's endings along with his themes.
On Monday, Feb. 17, The CW takes a new swing at the "Romeo and Juliet" idea with the sci-fi drama "Star-Crossed." Aimee Teegarden ("Friday Night Lights") and Matt Lanter ("90210") star as Emery and Roman, a human teen and an alien teen who share a childhood bond ... and perhaps more.
When Emery was 6, an alien spaceship crash-landed in her small town. Not willing to assume that visitors from another world who suddenly show up are there to cure cancer and promote world peace, the indigenous human population battles the aliens,...

By now you've seen the commercials for The CW's newest series, "Star-Crossed." While you'll have to wait until Monday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt to catch the premiere, you can peep some pretty pictures from the first two episodes right now.
The show takes place ten years in the future when seven teenagers from an alien colony in small-town Louisiana integrate into the local high school. They've been living in a special military-guarded alien sector since their ship crash-landed on Earth, and forces from both communities -- the aliens and the humans -- are against the move toward coexistence on Earth.
Matt Lanter plays Roman, one of the Atrians, who shares a special bond with human Emery (Aimee Teegarden). Check out some spiffy shots of the characters below, along with photos from the first two episodes. Then click on our "Star-Crossed" gallery for even more.

The CW announced its mid-season schedule today, including the premiere of new dramas "The 100" and "Star-Crossed" and a move for "The Tomorrow People" to Mondays.
The new series have a sci-fi tinge, but "The 100" especially, with its post-apocalyptic setting and the presence of Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost,” “Scandal”), has our attention. And while "Star-Crossed" definitely seems to appeal to the more romantic types among us, it has a lot of familiar faces and could be worth watching for one or two episodes at least.
For more info visit "The 100" and "Star-Crossed" on Cwtv.com, and follow "The 100" (@cwthe100) and "Star-Crossed" (@CWStarCrossed) on Twitter.
From the Press Release:

We love The CW here at SciFi Mafia. Other than Syfy, Chiller, and Fear, who have a directed advantage, The CW shows far more of Our Kind of Shows than any other network. Currently on the roster they have Supernatural, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, Beauty and the Beast, and Nikita, which is sadly currently in its final, excellent, season.
Happily they’re replacing that with not one but two more of Our Kind of Shows – and with luck, Flash will also be on its way to us, though that wouldn’t be until fall. Today they’ve announced premiere dates for the two new shows, and a schedule shift for two current shows:

The CW is holding both "Star-Crossed" and "The 100" in reserve for mid-season duty, but during the recent TV Upfronts they released a few photos from each show's pilot, and we have a look at them all right here.
Both series have a sci-fi tinge, but "The 100" especially, with its post-apocalyptic setting and the presence of Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost,” “Scandal”), has our attention for sure. And while "Star-Crossed" definitely seems to appeal to the more romantic types among us, it has a lot of familiar faces and could be worth watching for one or two episodes at least.

The CW has long been one of the best supporters of Our Kind of Shows, and at this year’s Upfronts they put even more money where our hearts are. Of the six new shows announced for the fall and winter schedule, four are for us: The Originals, The Tomorrow People, The 100, and Star-Crossed. Now of course more than one has that trademark The CW soap opera-ish spin on it, but hey, not Every show is for every one of us.
Here to assist in our prejudging are synopses for all, via Deadline, and maybe even better, clips and/or TV spots. There’s not really anything new for The Originals, but fans will want to see it all again anyway. The Tomorrow People features the wonderful Mark Pellegrino so it’s my favorite of the four.

The CW presented its 2013-14 broadcast schedule today, and we have all the details of who's paired with whom and on which nights we'll be able to see our favorites as well as some clips and previews.
Excerpts from the Press Release:
“We had a terrific season last year, growing our audience on-air, digitally, and socially. Now we are building on that success by continuing to add more original programming all year long and by adding high-concept, exciting shows to our schedule that will help us continue our mission of broadening out our 18-to-34-year old audience,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “‘Arrow’ was one of the breakout hits of this season, and we’re using that show and ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ our two highest-rated series, to launch our new dramas ‘The Tomorrow People’ and ‘Reign,’ on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Yes, it’s that time of year, kids. Before the official “Upfronts” get started next week, the networks are making the dreaded “sorry, but” phone calls to showrunners and pilot productions who didn’t make the cut, followed by the “hey guess what?!!” calls to those shows and series that are amongst the chosen to be on the network’s future schedules.
We now have a happy surprise, two disappointments, and a lot of good news on the pilot scene from The CW camp. First, a quick reminder for those of you with short memories, and to stave off the panic: The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural were already picked up for fall, as we told you back in February.
The happy surprise: Nikita has been picked up for another season, as has Beauty and the Beast. The disappointment: The Selection and Gothica will not move on to series level.

The CW is racking up with more dramas for the Fall season, and so are showrunners Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti. As if the two aren't busy another with The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Arrow already, the duo's The Tomorrow People has now been added to the list. Three other dramas that The CW have ordered also include Reign, The 100, and Star-Crossed, which was formerly Oxygen--a name we wish they stuck with.
With renewals and cancellations coming in heavy Thursday afternoon, it seems as though The CW may be coming out as one of the strongest compared to other networks.
Check out some more details on the four newest shows to hit your lineup next season:
Tomorrow People
The story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically.

And upfronts madness continues! The CW has announced official pickups for four of its new pilots, joining "Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals" on its schedule. The network, which kept many of its returning series on this year, was expected to pick up a total of five.
First up, they picked up "The Tomorrow People," from fan favorite executive producers Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Brothers and Sisters"). Starring Robbie Amell (the cousin of CW leading man Stephen Amell) as a troubled teenage boy who discovers that he has psychic powers, the series is written and executive produced by "Chuck's" Phil Klemmer. Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, and Aaron Yu also star.
"The 100," which takes place after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, is about a group of 100 juvenile delinquents sent back to Earth to see if it's fit for recolonization. It stars Henry Ian Cusick,...

According to Deadline Hollywood, Fox is in talks to pick up a half-hour comedy project which is being described as a female "Big Bang Theory" with "Wild Hogs" helmer Walt Becker and Tiffany Paulsen ("Nancy Drew") penning the script. This would reunite Hewitt with Fox, the place she got her big break on in "Party of Five." Becker is a film director and writer whose credits include the winning "Wild Hogs," "Van Wilder" and the recent "Old Hogs" comedies. He also created "Glory Daze" with Michael LeSieur which TBS picked up and will premiere later this year. That stars Matt Bush, Justin Chon, Natalie Dreyfuss, James Earl, Chelsea Gilligan and Julianna Guill.
