Director Jai Mehta has talked about what went into the making of the upcoming thriller series ‘Lootere’. Directed by Jai Mehta, the gripping series follows Rajat Kapoor as the ship captain and his struggle with a criminal legacy.
Mehta said: “We had a process when it came down to setting up tension on screen, we started watching films to understand the shot-taking process and what goes into creating tension on screen; because tension can come in different forms.”
“It can be shown through characters, sound design, camera placement or music so there are lots of ways to bring tension but having 10 characters in one frame, it’s difficult to navigate that tension and make it seem real as well as chaotic at the same time,” he added.
The maker added: “These tense moments are rarely chaotic, they’re more still and quiet so we started going through pictures by photographers...

Early in McCurry: The Pursuit of Color, renowned photographer Steve McCurry bemoans that the world is becoming an endless airport terminal, devoid of color and humanity. This is certainly one way to experience New York City, where McCurry hangs his hat between journeys but never really lives. Known for his iconic “Afghan Girl” image, McCurry views himself not as a photojournalist (he’s been a freelancer for most of his career) but as a storyteller who defends himself from the criticism that he too often digitally manipulates his images.
Denis Delestrac’s portrait feels a bit unfocused, bouncing between various chapters of McCurry’s life, what his colleagues and family have to say about him, and his present work as he sets off to create a book that explores the human species. An extension of Denis Delstrac’s The Face of the Human Condition, which also featured McCurry, The Pursuit...

“He’s one of the most prominent photographers of our times, I think we can say that. But he’s very private. So we don’t know him, we don’t know Steve McCurry. Maybe we know his name, maybe we know the ‘Afghan Girl,’ but not much more,” Denis Delestrac told Variety, ahead of the Doc NYC world premiere of “McCurry: The Pursuit of Color.” In his new documentary, the award-winning French filmmaker uncovers new aspects of the photographer’s biography by intertwining archive footage, photographs, observational sequences and some interview excerpts featuring McCurry himself as well as his relatives, friends and colleagues.
“McCurry: The Pursuit of Color” was produced by Polar Star Films, Intrepido Films, Steam Roller Media A.I.E., in association with Swr/Arte. The project was backed by Icec, Icaa and the Media slate funding. U.K.-based sales agent Dogwoof is currently selling the...

"What is my job? Capture images that say something about humanity." Dogwoof has revealed an official promo trailer for the documentary film McCurry: The Pursuit of Color, which is premiering at the Doc NYC Film Festival this month. For the first time, celebrated American photographer Steve McCurry opens up about the stories behind his iconic images and reflects on the defining moments of his extraordinary life and 40-year career. The fall of the Berlin Wall, climate change, the war in Afghanistan, McCurry has shot it all. A reflection on both his many professional accomplishments and the obstacles he faced on a personal level throughout his life. Those vulnerabilities are what set him on a path to greatness. This new doc film "celebrates the fantastic 40+ year career of a very private man who in his own words, describes himself as a visual storyteller and an artist. Wandering the planet turning the world into an art form,...

With his second stop-motion feature, Missing Link, writer/director Chris Butler took on a story with colorful characters, massive environments and a variety of complex action sequences, striving to bring a live-action quality to an animated world, which would be put together through a painstaking physical process, one frame at a time.
Centered on Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman), an investigator of myths and monsters who journeys with a sasquatch (Zach Galifianakis) into the Himalayas, to reunite the creature with his long-lost relatives, the latest feature from Laika Studios and United Artists Releasing was a massive challenge—“a bit too much of a challenge, at times,” Butler says—but one he felt compelled to take on.
As far as action sequences were concerned, Butler’s biggest inspiration with Steven Spielberg—particularly, the work he’d done with Raiders of the Lost Ark, and other films in the Indiana Jones franchise.
