3.5 Damage
Damage is largely an expository episode of Supergirl, letting us get more familiar with our new characters as well as the new dynamics between old favourites. But don’t mistake that for meaning the episode is clunky or a bore. On the contrary, for the second week in a row Supergirl continues the winning formula of focusing on the women at its core, with the welcome addition of James.
Lena's storyline provides continued fodder for the Supergirl writers to comment on current events Irl, with references to the water crisis in Flint and the...

Supergirl takes a backseat in this emotional J'onn- and Sanvers-centric episode. Spoilers ahead in our review...
This review contains spoilers.

3.3 Far From The Tree
This episode is all about fathers and closure, although not everyone gets the ending they wanted.
It's rare for Supergirl to take a back seat on her own show, but in this case it was worth it. While she was certainly part of J'onn's adventure on Mars, she played a supporting role that allowed J'onn's relationship with his father and the Martian resistance to take centre stage. Meanwhile, back on earth, the absence of Kara, Winn, James, Lena, and new characters Sam and Ruby allowed the emotional Maggie-centric story the room to breathe that it deserved. Like other Flarrowverse/Berlanti shows,...

Supergirl faces down her demons in a slow, cerebral episode. Spoilers ahead in our review...
This review contains spoilers.
See related The Punisher: what can we expect from a solo Netflix series? Daredevil season 2: examining Jon Bernthal's Punisher
3.2 Triggers
When they broke Supergirl for the season, the show's staff would have had no way of knowing that the episode Triggers would air during what has been a very triggering time for many of their viewers. As women and girls share their stories of harassment and assault using #MeToo, there are no doubt some Supergirl viewers who have struggled with their own panic attacks, just like the woman from Krypton did in this episode.
Like many people, Kara mistakenly conflated mental health struggles with physical weakness. Luckily, she had her friend Winn around to set her straight and remind her that anyone can struggle with...

Monday’s Supergirl was a real mindscrew.
This week’s episode introduced us to Psi (Jane the Virgin‘s Yael Grobglas), a master of mental manipulation with a penchant for robbing banks. “More money, more happiness,” she told Kara during their first encounter, to which I say someone needs to brush up on her Notorious B.I.G.

Psi’s secret weapon is her ability to exploit her enemies’ fears, which prompted her to send Kara back to the day she fled Krypton. This obviously sucked for Supergirl, but...

Sam and Ruby are having a baby! Luckily, it's a boy, not a demon.
"Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki opened up to Tonic.com and confessed that he initially thought his wife, former co-star Genevieve Padalecki, was having a girl. "Shows what I know," he joked. "I grew up in a family where the oldest sibling was a boy and I appreciated the extra guidance and protection."
Despite the speculation, he wasn't hoping for one gender or the other. "As cheesy as it sounds, I really want, and wanted, nothing more than a healthy baby."
No word on whether there will be a little Jared Jr. running around, though - Jared notes that they haven't chosen a name quite yet. "We've thrown around countless names, probably every one in the books and a few that we kind of made up. But we both agree that we'd like to meet our child before we decide [on] a name.
