Harvest Smith, former Vice President of Affiliate Field Sales, Western
Region for NBC Universal Cable based in Burbank, California. His
responsibilities included increasing the network carriage for (NBCU)
Cable's family of networks: (MSNBC, CNBC, CNBC World, NBC Weather Plus,
ShopNBC, Telemundo Puerto Rico, Bravo, Oxygen, Telemundo, mun2, USA,
SCI FI, Sleuth, Chiller, Universal HD) and the Olympics on cable across
fifteen states, including Canada. Smith reported to Mary Murano,
Executive Vice President, Affiliate Field Sales for NBC Universal TV
Networks Distribution.
Prior to serving as Vice President, Smith was Regional Director of Affiliate Relations for the Western Region for Universal before the merger in 2004.
Smith began working with Universal in 1998 as a Regional Manager of Affiliate Relations in California where he increased local ad insertion and successfully increased network carriage across all networks by a combined 2,000,000 subscribers.
In 1996, Smith was the Affiliate Marketing and Sales Manager for BET Networks in Los Angeles, California where he was responsible for increasing BET's carriage through creative marketing and sales programs. Smith also was the Marketing and Promotional Director for the Basketball Division for (ASICS TIGER) Corporation in Fountain Valley, California.
Smith graduated from The University of North Carolina Charlotte with a major in Psychology. He is a Graduate from The Anderson School of Business at UCLA. Smith is currently involved in the GE African American Forum, LA HUB President. He is currently an active board member of both the 2008 (CCTA) and (CTAM) West and is the 2009 incoming Vice President of CTAM West. He is also an active member of (NAMIC) (National Association of Multi-Ethnicities in Communications) where he was the former Vice President of the Los Angeles Chapter and he is part of the (NAMIC),(ELDP)(Executive Leadership Development Program). He is a United Friends of the Children Volunteer.
