A year ago, the broadcast networks were forced to promote their fall TV lineups during the height of the election, as panicked audiences were instead glued to the real-life presidential derby playing out on their screens. But a year later, the networks face even bigger distractions.
A bevy of late-summer mega-hurricanes hit portions of Texas and Florida hard, with potentially more on the way, and Americans in several major markets (including Houston and Miami) rightfully have bigger concerns right now than what new medical dramas are coming to television.

Fox’s New Girl has become a sleeper of a hit much to everyone’s surprise. Zooey Deschanel has proven herself to be a very likable character who can be dorky. Now Shannon Ryan who is a head of Fox’s marketing has found herself given credit for a new term, adorkable. Shannon brought us the word celebutante before, and now she is seeing adorkable being brought to the Collins English Dictionary. While it is no Webster, it is certainly a start for it. Hopefully the other ones will quickly adopt it.
Zooey has yet to address this news. We are not sure how she feels about the term since it is used for her role. But we can say that they will be describing it right by saying her role is socially awkward. But then again, we all can be. I just hope that this doesn’t hurt the...

Collins English Dictionary announced June 10, after a Twitter contest, that it would add the word, defining it as "socially inept or unfashionable in a charming or endearing way." Fox’s President of Marketing & Communications Joe Earley has restructured the network’s marketing and communications teams. Under the previous setup, more than 10 different groups in the two areas reported directly to Earley. Now, that will be trimmed to six with the consolidation of some departments’ oversight. As a result, three veteran executives, who will lead the newly formed teams, are getting promoted to EVP reporting to Earley: Laurel Bernard has been promoted to EVP Marketing. In addition to her current role as head of national media, on-air planning and national promotions teams, she will now also oversee Fox’s affiliate marketing and multi-platform distribution marketing efforts. As part of the new structure, Michelle Garry has been elevated to Svp Multi-Platform Distribution Marketing, and will join Svp Affiliate Marketing Nick Belperio, VP National Media Emily King and VP On-Air Planning Shawn Mills as Bernard’s senior lieutenants.
