Neighbours star James Mason has landed a lead role in an upcoming independent film.
The 24-year-old has signed up for Australian feature 36 Questions, which centres around an unusual encounter for a couple who are on their first date.
Mason will fit in the new project alongside his role as Ramsay Street's Chris Pappas, as Neighbours will be on a short production break when the film shoot takes place.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the actor explained: "I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into it because it's going to be something completely different.
"We're currently in pre-production, so we're just going through everything now. They have a relatively short shoot, which coincides with our Neighbours production break coming up in April. They're going to use the good majority of that break to fit in most of my scenes.

I really enjoyed this past week’s River City. First of all, I have to admit that Robbie and Will are growing on me as a couple. No, you won’t see me going all fangirl on them, but I like them much more than I used to. I also think that the pairing has really suited Robbie as a character and has helped to ground and mature what used to be a really flighty and sometimes annoying character. He still can be flighty and annoying, but his relationship with Will has fleshed the character out and softened his more bothersome traits.
I continue to love that River City has this gay couple in lead stories that usually isn’t about them being gay. Yes, Will’s father disapproves of his son's relationship with Robbie, but their lives and stories are much bigger than...

Neighbours star James Mason has said that his character Chris Pappas may need to "move on" from boyfriend Aidan Foster. Chris decides to end his relationship in an upcoming storyline, feeling frustrated as Aidan (Bob Morley) is no longer being honest with him. Viewers in the UK will soon see Aidan face a worrying setback when he is suspended by the Erinsborough Hospital, but he leaves Chris out in the cold by failing to confide in him about how he's really feeling. I wondered how long it would take for it to be revealed that Aidan had broken hospital rules by secretly performing Andrew’s blood tests. This was this past week it finally happened. And, while it’s an interesting story, I’m not happy about how it played out.
First of all, since Georgia clearly had no intention of not turning Aidan in, or at least gave it very little thought before she did. She could have at least warned Aidan that the hammer was about to fall so he wasn’t blindsided. I suppose she did the right thing because he did violate hospital policy, but as far as I’m concerned, Georgia can save the half-hearted apologies. She’s not stupid and she had to know what would happen as a result of her blabbing. Just own up to what you did and shut up.

I’ve had my doubts about Will and Robbie’s relationship since the very beginning. They always seemed ill-suited for one another and I never felt they had much spark. And well, there are the incidents of domestic violence between the couple that put me against any future between them.
But this past week, with Will and Robbie getting married, I decided to put my doubts and previous impressions aside, at least for this episode and try and enjoy the story as presented in this particular episode. I found that it was a well-crafted piece of drama, well done in both writing and acting, though I do have a few issues.
I thought it was ridiculous that rather than tell Will about Edwards’ attempts to bribe him, Robbie gets stinking drunk. Clearly this only made the situation worse. Will had no idea what...

As I said last week, I’m really enjoying Neighbours these days. The fallout from the accident has continued to make for interesting soap. Now, I don’t know anything about epilepsy or its symptoms, so I can’t say if the show is being medically accurate about Andrew’s illness, but it’s dramatically compelling to watch.
I see a lot of comments about Andrew being ‘stupid’ for not taking Aidan’s advice and telling people about his situation, but his behavior makes perfect sense to me. Andrew has always been one to avoid problems. His father is repeatedly telling him he needs to be tough and he can’t even talk to Chris and his friends because they won’t have anything to do with him following the accident. Risking his health might be stupid, but it’s realistic.

Neighbours airs one of its biggest episodes of the year on UK screens later this month as the teens are at the centre of a terrifying car crash. The drama plays out on Andrew Robinson's (Jordan Smith) birthday, when he is on the way to a concert with Chris Pappas, Tash Williams, Summer Hoyland and Ed Lee. At first it seems that there is a great night ahead for the gang, but the evening's first surprise comes when they discover that Sophie Ramsay (Kaiya Jones) has snuck into the boot of Chris's car. Sophie has decided to play stowaway after Paul banned her from attending the gig, and when her hiding place is uncovered, Andrew bullies Chris (James Mason) into overloading the car so they don't have to turn around and take her home. As the journey continues, there is another twist as Summer (Jordy Lucas) unexpectedly comes across...

I really enjoyed Neighboursthis past week. The crash and the aftermath made for some really strong storytelling and I’m surprised at how prominent Chris has been in the storyline. Frankly, I thought he would only play a minor supporting role in his friends' drama, like he has in much of the time on this show. I never expected Chris to be front and center. I think James Mason has been very good as Chris struggles to deal with what’s happened, though he needs to be a more convincing crier. A few tears might help.
One thing that never changes about this show, however, is that Chris has lousy friends. Both Tash and Summer ragged on Andrew about how selfish he was being, more concerned about his money than Chris’ plight, but neither of them bothered to go with Chris when he went...

I’m sorry, but Deek needs to give it a rest where Will is concerned. If he wants to be Robbie’s friend, then he needs to be his friend which doesn’t mean trashing Will every chance he gets. And attacking Will for not getting involved with the business is unfair simply because from what I understood, Will was just giving Robbie the money to buy the salon, he had no intention of actually being involved in running the place.
Yes, Will was preoccupied with his investigation, but his telling Robbie to go to Deek, who has business experience, seems the proper thing to do to me. More and more, Deek comes off as petty and jealous. No, Will isn’t perfect, but he’s not the monster Deek makes him out to be —at least not yet. But then the writing...

Neighbors garnered a lot of talk last week because of the show’s first gay kiss and how it was handled. Many thought it was great that it was treated like no big deal in that Chris and Aiden were making out just like many of the other couples at the party had. But some viewers were upset that the kiss was in the background and not the center of the scene, which you would expect given that it was the first gay kiss for the show. While I commend Neighbors for how they handled the kiss, which was quite passionate and not awkward like many kisses between two straight actors can be, it’s symptomatic of the overall problem with this storyline. Like Chris and Aiden’s kiss, too much of the action is happening in the background.

There’s not much to say here as there was really no movement in the Alejandro/Diego storyline. In fact, they didn’t have any scenes together last week other than Alejandro flashing back to the kiss that we didn’t see. Neighbours executive producer Susan Bower said the coming-out storyline was a direct result of requests from young viewers in Neighbours” online forums.
Bower said though lesbian romances had featured on Home and Away and Neighbours, love scenes between men are still fairly taboo on Australian dramas.
She said the show copped flak for its teen pregnancy and surrogacy storylines, so teen homosexuality was.
