Jennifer Li(IX)

Jennifer Li is a prize-winner of many competitions throughout Southern
California. Noteworthy among these honors include: the Chinese Culture
and Art Festival for Young Musicians, the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony
"Young Artists," the Friends of William Grant Still Foundation, the
13th Annual Young Musicians' Competition, the Taiwan Benevolent
Association of California, and the Kiwanis Club. Her other major
accomplishments include the recipient of scholarship awards from the
Leni Fé Bland Santa Barabara Foundation and the Westside Junior
Philharmonic Committee. As a winner of the 2010 Atwater Kent All-Star
Competition, she performed David Popper's Requiem for 3 cellos and
orchestra with UCLA Philharmonia.
She was the former principal cellist of the Orchestra Da Camera at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, the Olympia Youth Philharmonic, and the Idyllwild Festival Orchestra. She has also served as principal of the UCLA Philharmonia and in 2008 was appointed assistant principal of the YMF Debut Orchestra. Jennifer has performed under the baton of renowned conductors Larry Livingston, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Neal Stulberg, and Alexander Treger, among others.
Jennifer has participated in the LACMA Sunday's Live! Concert Series in both orchestral and chamber settings. She has studied chamber music with Paul Coletti, Elinor Freer, David Garrett, Ricardo Iznaola, Antonio Lysy, Richard O'Neill, Movses Pogossian, Linda Rose, Daniel Rothmuller, Peter Stumpf, Guillaume Sutre, and Margo Tatgenhorst Drakos, among others. She has performed in master classes for Steven De Groote of the Chilingirian String Quartet, the members of the Alexander String Quartet, Mihai Tetel, Gregor Horsch, Jeffrey Solow, Balacs Mate, William Skeen, Eric Wilson, and Tigran Mansurian. Jennifer has also taken part in the YMF Chamber Music Series, the Beverly Hills International Music Festival, the ENCORE School for Strings, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Idyllwild Arts Summer Festival, the UCLA Chancellor's Residence Chamber Music Series, and the 2010 Musica Angelica Baroque Masterclasses.
In June 2010, Jennifer received her Bachelors of Arts in Cello Performance from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) studying under Antonio Lysy. She is a former recipient of the Elizabeth Greenschpoon Endowment, the Sophia Guzik Foundation scholarship, the Bernice S. & William L. Hutchison Scholarship Fund award, and the Emma B. Keller award. She is also a multiple recipient of the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation scholarship awards for community outreach.
