- Clarence Ross was born on October 26, 1923 in Oakland, California, USA. He was an actor, known for So You Want to Be a Muscle Man (1949). He died on April 30, 2008 in Concord, California, USA.
- Won the Amateur Athletic Union 1945 Mr. America & Most Muscular Man Sub-division while still on active duty with the Army Air Corps (Air Force).
- Won every major physique contest in his day, except for the National Amateur Body Builders Association (London) Mr. Universe; in which he placed 2nd to the Mr. Canada title holder, Leo Robert, in 1955.
- Both his physique and his profile are thought to have been an inspiration to comic strip/comic book Artist, Wayne Boring in his post World War II in his updating the appearance of Superman.
- Following his victory in the 1945 AAU Mr. America contest (while still on active duty with the U.S. Air Force), he was discharged at the end of World War II and he then opened a commercial gym in Alameda, California.
