Why British Newspapers Think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Engagement Announcement Is Coming Soon
Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spend this holiday season as an engaged couple? All bets are off!
Gambling companies have decided close bets on when an engagement between the 33-year-old royal and the 36-year-old actress will take place, amid gossip that an announcement is coming soon.
“The rumour mill is going into overdrive and it looks like the worst kept secret is to be confirmed imminently,” Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes, which suspended betting this week, tells People. “It’s long been a case of when and not if Harry and Meghan announce they are engaged, and all bets are off for a 2018 wedding.

Princess CydStephen Cone has been making movies at a steady clip for over a decade and yet remains largely unknown. It is a momentous and wholly deserved occasion then for him to receive a retrospective at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. Despite mixed receptions and even more erratic distribution patterns, his collection of films isn’t as motley as one might think. While each might tiptoe in a different direction, they maintain a hand in the Stephen Cone universe, imprinted by the same particular humanistic insight. In one of his earliest films, In Memoriam (2011), a young man so subsumed with the sudden death of a couple, fallen from a roof during the throes of pleasure, conducts his own investigation into their ill-fated demise. Innocuous curiosity masks what is essentially an existential inquiry and takes a self-referential pivot when he decides to recreate and film the events,...

'Professor Marston and the Wonder Women' Director on the Superhero's Kinky Origin Story (Exclusive)
If you saw Wonder Woman this summer -- and the record-setting $800 million worldwide box office indicates a lot of people saw Wonder Woman this summer -- then you know the story of how Diana, Princess of Themyscira, became the superhero Wonder Woman, protector of mankind. How Wonder Woman ended up on the pages of comic books in the first place is a story unto itself however, told in Professor Marston and the Wonder Women: In 1941, Dr. William Moulton Marston (played by Luke Evans), his wife, Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), and their lover, Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote), created the character to save the world...through psychology. Director Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S.) could never have predicted, though, that her Wonder Woman indie would arrive in theaters mere months after one of the biggest movies of the year.
"I'm getting a lot of credit for having the foresight to know that in the summer of 2017, the 75-years-in-the-making, long-gestating Wonder Woman movie would...

Here’s a phrase I do not recall from Kingsman: The Secret Service: “independent intelligence agency.” This is uttered in Kingsman: The Golden Circle in connection with the American counterpart to Kingsman: Statesman, to which we are introduced here. But what does that mean, precisely? It means they’re mercenary spies, doesn’t it? I have a vague recollection of Secret Service mentioning something about Kingsman being funded by the crown heads of Europe, which at least offers a veneer of governmental authority and fealty to law and order — though of course there...

A bespoke British spy with a license to kill. His techy right-hand man, known only by his code name. All the amusingly absurd gizmos and gadgets. A beautiful femme with an inclination toward evil. It sounds familiar, yet there's been so much ado about whether there will be another James Bond movie -- and if Daniel Craig will be back for it -- that people seem to have forgotten there's another agent who ticks all those boxes and does have a movie out now: Eggsy (Taron Egerton).
If you didn't see Eggsy make his chav-to-suave(ish) transformation in The Secret Service, you are going to be awfully confused when the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, kicks off with not so much a bang, but at least at gunpoint. Charlie (Edward Holcroft), rejected by the Kingsman in the first film, holds Eggsy up, which escalates to gunshots and then an intricately choreographed fight in the backseat of a town...

The “Kingsman” sequel, much like the original, sits at a nexus. They are proper gentlemen who champion old-world traditions; they are also elite undercover agents who utilize futuristic technology, using not-so-subtle CGI. However, there’s one sequence that breaks from this old world-meets-new schtick, and it stands out as stunningly crude as it is rudimentary — and so narratively forced it ties the feather-light plot into a pretzel.
Halfway through “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” the Kingsmen’s American cousins — the Statesmen — boast enough technology to literally heal a bullet to the brain. But when our heroes Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Whiskey (Pedro Pascal) need to complete the relatively simple task of putting a tracking device on the villain’s girlfriend, they are forced to rely on a latex finger condom.

Jim Carrey likes to mess with people. Using 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage from Milos’ Forman’s 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic “Man in the Moon,” Carrey and director Chris Smith created “Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond,” a documentary that details Carrey’s aggressive Method approach to portraying Kaufman and his abrasive, lounge-singing alter ego Tony Clifton. It shows that Carrey baffled everyone on set and beyond it, crashing parties and workplaces in character as he burrowed so far inside the role no one was sure he’d come back. Pitched somewhere between a punchline and psychosis, the result was one of his most remarkable, lived-in performances in a career filled with jarring slapstick creations.
“It was a choice as an actor to have Andy come back and make his movie, to push me aside,” Carrey said during an interview in Toronto to promote the documentary, which Netflix recently acquired. “I was wondering...

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth (just Mask of Truth from here on in) is the rapid fire sequel to Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, which was released earlier this year. The original Utawarerumono was first released in 2004, but only came out in Japan, although a 26-part anime series and some other assets did make it west. For whatever reason, developer Aquaplus has decided that 2017 will be the year when the Utawarerumono series is thrust properly on Western gamers, with both a Ps Vita and a PS4 version of both games being launched.
As the second game in this particular miniseries, Mask of Truth is a direct continuation of Mask of Deception, and as such, playing this second instalment before the first is considerably less rewarding than it could be. That said, it is not impossible, and because both games are elaborate, long-winded graphic novels anyway, there are numerous recaps and explanations of what came before.

Jenna Dewan Tatum is very much aware of the fact that it’s much harder to be a young woman these days.
“There definitely apprehensions I have about raising a child in the new social media day and age. There’s no guide book,” she told People Thursday at the New York Fashion Week Young Living Essential Oils event. “We’re starting to see now how that’s affecting young people.”
While her daughter Everly is only 4, unfortunately it won’t be long before she’s faced with the harsh critics of the world, especially being in the public eye.

Empathy is essential to good storytelling. We don’t have to like our central characters as such, but it is imperative that we understand, relate to and feel for them. If that empathy dissipates then it can be very hard to muster up much passion for the story, particularly in serialised television.
At the end of BoJack Horseman’s generally strong but flawed third season, I had started to get a bit tired. Especially binged, the third season was so dark and certain actions of the central character so deplorable that I had reached the point where I no longer found myself wanting to continue following him. Prince William and Prince Harry are becoming more and more candid about their late mother, Princess Diana, as the 20th anniversary of her death approaches. In the new British documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, which airs on Monday, the royals open up about the very last conversation they had with her before she died. "The very last memory I have is a phone call from Balmoral [Castle in Scotland]," William said. "At the time, Harry and I were running around, minding our own business, playing with our cousins and having a very good time. Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say 'Goodbye, see you later, can I go off?' If I'd known what was going to happen I wouldn't have been quite so blasé about it. That phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily." The memory of that phone call has also haunted Harry over the years.

In Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, which airs on ITV and HBO on Monday, William says he is “constantly talking about Granny Diana.”
“We’ve got more photos up round the house now of her and we talk about her a bit and stuff,” he adds.

Princess Diana’s voice is being heard once again — 25 years after her death.
In the updated edition of Diana: Her True Story – In Her Own Words, author Andrew Morton revisits the extraordinary saga that led to the bombshell biography’s original publication in 1992.
To the rest of the world, Diana’s life seemed a fairy tale, with her marriage to Prince Charles at the heart of it. The reality, of course, was very different — and Morton’s book was a way to reveal “the unvarnished truth,” as the author writes a new foreword, which is excerpted exclusively in this week’s People.

Though Pippa Middleton didn’t have a royal wedding like her sister Princess Kate, she did earn a title of her own after saying “I do.”
David Matthews, the father of her new husband, financier James Matthews, is the Laird of Glen Affric, a Scottish estate 15 miles from Loch Ness. This means James the heir to said title — and now, Middleton, is the heir to his mother’s corresponding title, Lady of Glen Affric. The Matthews family received the title after purchasing the 10,000-acre estate in the Scottish highlands, complete with a historic castle, in 2008.

The whole York family was under lock and key on The White Princess Season 1 Episode 2.
Elizabeth was tricked into captivity at the palace, Lizzie can't go out to play because she's pregnant and medieval attitudes about her condition are scary close to those of present day gynoticians, and poor, simple Teddy is a threat.
Even Cecily, who thinks she's a gatekeeper, is captive. She may think they're under quarantine from the plague, but she wouldn't be allowed anywhere even if half of England weren't dying.
Cecily is just the worst. I want to give her some benefit of the doubt, but my god, she just doesn't give us anything to work with, does she?
I mean, sure, she's the often overlooked second daughter – always an afterthought, she was literally the backup bride for Lizzie's original engagement to the dauphin of France.

Sofia Boutella’s Ahmanet in the upcoming Tom Cruise flick, The Mummy, looks like a terrifying psychopath. If we’re to believe the trailer, it seems like she went on a murderous rampage before being locked away fro her malice. Unfortunately, thanks to Tom Cruise’s character, Nick Morton, her rage has been unleashed upon the world and everything in it.
But where’s the motive behind Ahmanet’s rage? Is there some rhyme behind her malevolence, or is she just a bona fide crazy person?
Thanks to the folks over at EW, we now have some extra insight into her backstory. Apparently, Ahmanet’s father had promised to maker her pharaoh, but after he had a son, he went back on that promise, and it appears that may be the catalyst of her bloodthirsty frenzy.
Related: Just Who Is Tom Cruise's Character In The Mummy?
That certainly seems pretty promising.

Fifteen years ago Wednesday, on January 25, 2002, the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel A Walk To Remember strolled into movie theaters across the country. Starring sweet-as-candy teen pop star Mandy Moore and rising TV and film actor Shane West, the movie was an early entry in a long line of Sparks’ book-to-movie adaptations.
These romances follow a reasonably simple formula: take a heart-wrenching premise, add in some beautiful people and a stunning North Carolina-esque backdrop, be sure to incorporate some inspirational action that overcomes all adversity, and you are on the road to a Sparks success.

It was 1977. Lee Speller and I had just hopped (read: rode free) the subway to Manhattan. No easy feat at any subway station. You’re gambling an undercover cop won’t be among the passengers watching you break the law. You run the risk of getting an expensive ticket or getting arrested, but in Far Rockaway, Queens, you can add getting killed to that list.
The trains are elevated, so we had to climb the outside of a three-story stairwell, jump down onto the platform which was going the wrong way, and cross the tracks. Now being the geniuses we were, instead of simply going downstairs and crossing over to the right side of the platform, we crossed the tracks which included the 50,000-volt third rail. One slip, just one touch, and we were dead.
It never occurred to us that the tollbooth attendant would never have known if we just climbed onto the platform.

Born to two of the most famous people in the world, Carrie Fisher had a childhood that was anything but normal.

This week’s question:
