The fretful anticipation surrounding The Vampire Diaries' finale has been building since stars Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino announced in early April that they would leave the show after season 6.
With a fanbase as committed as Tvd's, it was inevitable viewers would be equal parts up-in-arms and dissolved-in-puddles regardless of how the characters made their exits. Unfortunately for Trevino's fans, his werewolf hybrid character Tyler Lockwood ended on more of a whimper than a growl on Thursday. The fanfare around the departure of Dobrev's on-screen persona Elena Gilbert, however, certainly merited the uproar heard around the Twitterverse during and after the East Coast airing.

The truth about those killings Ava Hessington was being held responsible for came out on "Suits." Stephen Huntley was the one who ordered them -- he was Darby's "fixer."
“And Ava’s problem was [Darby's] problem, so when she came to him to get a pipeline built..." Harvey said, but Jessica finished that thought, adding, "He went to Stephen.”
“You know what it took to set up those murders?" Mike asked. "One phone call to Mariga from the offices of Darby International. From Stephen Huntley’s London office.”
Zap2It's Laurel Brown doesn't think this is good at all. "Sure [Stephen] was under orders at the time -- Darby (thinking this would help his beloved Ava) told his fixer to make everything work -- but that's never been a terribly believable defense," she wrote. "He is a murderer.”
Carrie Raisler of The Av Club, meanwhile, is holding out hope that these developments could save the season.

The Atx Television Festival hosted a "My So-Called Life" reunion on Friday in Austin, Texas and the cast revealed some scoop about the game-changing teen show.
Cast members from the short-lived, cult hit series gathered at the second annual Atx Festival to discuss the legacy of Angela Chase (Claire Danes), Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto) and co.
Though Danes and Leto weren't in attendance for the "My So-Called Life" reunion, Wilson Cruz (Rickie Vasquez), Devon Gummersall (Brian Krakow), Bess Armstrong (Patty Chase), Devon Odessa (Sharon Cherski), creator Winnie Holzman and composer W.G. Snuffy Walden were on hand. They dished about life behind-the-scenes of "My So-Called Life," which aired on ABC from 1994-1995, and where they think the show's characters, which teens fell in love with, are now.

Before we get started, I’d like to thank Carrie Raisler for filling in for me while I was locked in a cage in the basement of a funeral home last week. I only wish the episode could have been better, although I think I actually enjoyed it more than Carrie did. Tonight’s episode, however, is probably my favorite…...
