Millwood’s final girls may have survived being chased by a masked serial killer (so far), but they’re totally unprepared to face their biggest nightmare yet: summer school. Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, which premieres May 9 on Max, picks up directly after the events of the previous season, which was titled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, the teen drama’s latest installment follows Imogen (Bailee Madison), Tabby (Chandler Kinney), Faran (Zaria), Mouse (Malia Pyles), and Noa (Maia Reficco) as they tackle summer school, summer jobs, and summer flings, all while being terrorized by a terrifying new villain who may or may not be linked to “A.”...

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is now in session, but there’s one teacher you shouldn’t expect to see roaming the halls — Ezra Fitz.
The Max reboot’s first season ended with Imogen (Bailee Madison) revealing that her baby was being adopted by a lovely couple from nearby Rosewood, specifically Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) from the original Pretty Little Liars. It was an exciting Easter egg for longtime fans of the franchise, one that promised a permanent connection between the two shows.

Summer school begins early this year.
No, you won’t be challenged with tests or catching and marking grasshoppers, but you will feel forced to sit through class nonetheless when the next generation of Pretty Little Liars returns with their own type of Summer School.
This season discusses the classic movie trope with which Pretty Little Liars has become synonymous — the final girl.
TV Fanatic had the opportunity to get in front of the cast and creators for a little Q&a, and they did the best they could to entertain and tease without spoiling too much — just as we like it.
We first spoke to the group that not only has answers but who makes the decisions. Creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring were joined by Pll mom Sharon Leal.

Based on the novel series by Sara Shepard, Pretty Little Liars gathered a passionate following over its seven-season run. It spawned two spin-offs, Ravenswood and The Perfectionists, but both were cancelled after a single season. Thankfully, the latest Pretty Little Liars spin-off has had better luck. HBO Max announced today that they have renewed Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin for season 2.
The first season of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin takes place twenty years after a series of tragic events almost ripped apart the blue-collar town of Millwood. “A disparate group of teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago…as well as their own,” reads the official synopsis. “In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but...

Spoiler alert! This post contains spoilers for the finale of HBO Max’s “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.”
“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” came to an end this week, and we finally got answers about the man behind the mask. As it turns out, “A” was Angela Waters’ brother, who was acting at the direction of their father — the principal of Millwood High School. And, as TheWrap learned, it was a twist that wasn’t ironed out when bosses Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring entered the writers room.
“We had a list of possible suspects, but it was probably around halfway through the writers room where we landed on the idea that Angela would have a brother,” Aguirre-Sacasa told TheWrap.
After being stalked by an anonymous assailant, who was forcing them to pay for their mothers’ transgressions, the Liars, who also have personal traumas, won’t simply be able to move on.

If you’ve already worked your way through all 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on HBO Max, you’re probably wondering what could possibly happen next.
After all, (spoiler alert!) the season finale not only unmasks “A” but also kills off the show’s only non-incarcerated antagonists — Sheriff Beasley and Chip. Aside from Angela Waters’ secret half-brother Archie being “on the loose,” all other storylines have been neatly tied up. More importantly, the mothers’ “original sin” has been avenged, making the entire premise moot moving forward.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has been a breath of fresh air.
The latest entry in the iconic franchise took us on a wild ride as a serial killer stalked the liars at every turn.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 wrapped with an unnerving, exciting, and revealing finale.
While it was filled with action, one key aspect was almost very different.
As you will recall, the Liars followed A's trail and the villain had Madam Giry, Chip, Steve, and Noa's mom's drug dealer at the school.
The girls decided against harming them, but that wasn't the original plan from the creative minds behind the show.
I asked creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring whether they entertained the possibility of the girls harming these individuals.
"Not only did we entertain it, we originally wrote the script that had all the girls taking revenge on their bullies," Aguirre-Sacasa shared exclusively with TV Fanatic.

The brutal, bloody finale of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin offers plenty of opportunities for gasps, but even amid the dramatic twists and turns, it’s a much quieter moment that’s sure to get those jaws dropping to the floor.
It comes towards the end of the finale, long after “A” gets unmasked and (temporarily) hospitalized. Tabby asks Imogen about the couple chosen to adopt her baby, and she says… well, this: “They seem pretty perfect, actually. They’re been wanting to have a baby for a while. I think they’re both writers and one owns a bookshop.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 finale.] Though it looked like all the major villains of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin would all make it through the season alive, that changed in the final scenes — and it had to end that way, according to co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring. The final episodes revealed that Chip (Carson Rowland) was the one who raped Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney), Sheriff Beasley (Eric Johnson) raped Angela in high school, and A stood out for Archie Waters, Angela’s sister. Their father, the mastermind, was Principal Clanton (Robert Stanton). While Imogen did stab Archie during their final confrontation, he survived — and broke free in the hospital, killing the deputy watching him and Sheriff Beasley before going to take out Chip. Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring discuss those deaths, bringing Kelly (Mallory Bechtel) into the Losers Club, and more. Chip is dead? Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: ...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” now streaming on HBO Max.
Over the course of its first season, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” has made numerous references to the original series, “Pretty Little Liars,” which wrapped up five years ago. The biggest tribute, however, came in the season finale.
In the last episode, titled “Final Girls,” Imogen (Bailee Madison) revealed that she decided to place her baby for adoption, as she found a couple who have been trying to have a baby for a long time. Warning: This post contains spoilers for the HBO Max series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.”
“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is a much more horror-centric take on Sara Shepard’s young adult novels about a group of teenage girls who are being stalked by an anonymous assailant.
While the teen slasher series contains plenty of callbacks to the original series, there are also a ton of winks to classic horror films that make the series that much more eerie — from strikingly obvious references like “Carrie” to more subtle references like “The Shining.”
