Paramore entered into This Is Why with the goal of both internal and external interrogation. The album asked complicated questions about the human condition that yielded answers that looked like those on the surface, but, on closer inspection, it turned out to be another layer of confounding inquiries. It opens with the title track, “This Is Why,” which arrived with a music video showing the early stages of Paramore’s existential unraveling. In the newly-released video for the record’s closing track, “Thick Skull,” they finish what they started — even...

Paramore released their take on Talking Heads’ hit single “Burning Down the House” on Tuesday as part of a forthcoming Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense tribute album.
The cover features frontwoman Hayley Williams belting out “Strange but not a stranger/I’m an ordinary guy/Burning down the house,” and taking on the iconic song that David Byrne once called “an expression of liberation, to break free from whatever was holding you back.” (Bryne also noted the lyrics had “no logical, linear connection,...

Hayley Williams and her Paramore band members have a tape they’d like to play for you. Not long after parting ways with Atlantic Records to become an independent rock band, Paramore is teasing a partnership with A24 to release a 16-track Stop Making Sense tribute album inspired by the life-altering album and concert performance by the Talking Heads. While details remain a mystery, the project teases “16 tracks from 16 artists.”
Paramore is singer Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro. Recently, the band created a panic among its fanbase when rumors about them breaking up circulated online. The nail-biting occurred when the band removed its website and scrubbed its social media platforms. However, the band has no intention of parting ways—quite the opposite. In addition to announcing the Stop Making Sense tribute album, Paramore will support Taylor Swift on her sold-out Eras arena tour in 2024.

Paramore fans everywhere are getting out their paint and brushes to apply a full face of clown makeup. At the end of 2023, the band’s social media were wiped clean, and their website was deemed inaccessible, stirring up rumors that they had called it quits for the umpteenth time. But behind the scenes, Paramore were recalibrating following the conclusion of their 20-year recording contract with Atlantic Records and preparing to launch their next chapter.

The night before Paramore released their sixth studio album This Is Why, they shared a list of all the things they were thinking about while working on the LP: Agoraphobia. Cabin fever. American Psycho. One point read: “Confused about the difference between selfishness and self-preservation.”

Earlier this week, Paramore announced Re: This Is Why, an almost remixed version of their latest album This Is Why.
The trio – Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro – dropped their new album earlier this year, and now, have brought in other artists to re-work the songs off of the album.
“We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence,” they shared on Instagram. “Re: This Is Why is almost a remix album. Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding.”
So, who’s on the album?

During a Paramore concert, singer Hayley Williams removed two of the fans from the show.
This occurred last week at Madison Square Garden when a disagreement happened between the two people. She told them “to find somewhere else to take care of that shit because that’s not happening here tonight, this is our house.”
Videos of the altercation have been circling on various social media platforms, including TikTok.
She has now apologized for the way she spoke to the fans and posted a statement on Paramore’s Discord.
In the statement she tried to explain why she acted this way: “My insides were triggered from numerous personal experiences not fit for a blog post or a microphone on stage at an arena. My outsides were trying to maintain control of a situation I felt that myself and my bandmates were responsible for. Without the opportunity for a proper back and forth,...

Becca Mancari has readied a new album called Left Hand. The artist’s third solo LP arrives August 25th via Captured Tracks, while lead single “Over and Over” is out now.
Mancari has been a beloved figure in the Nashville indie rock scene for a while now, frequently collaborating with local figureheads Julien Baker and Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Zac Farro. When they released their last album, 2020’s The Greatest Part, they were named a Consequence Artist of the Month. That success, of course, doesn’t excuse the artist from the traumas of life. Left Hand was made in the aftermath of a family illness, as well as Mancari coming to terms with an unhealthy dependence on alcohol.
“I didn’t realize it then, but looking back, I was a passenger in my own life,” Mancari said in a statement. “Producing this record was life-giving. It was scary, at first,...

The only thing more jarring than watching an illustrious band tear apart at the seams in real-time is being in the band itself while it’s happening. This was Hayley Williams’ experience as Paramore began to fall apart following the release of their third studio album Brand New Eyes, in 2009. Within a year, guitarist Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro had departed, and the external perception that followed suggested that Williams was the one poisoning the band from the inside out.

Hayley in Wonderland has a nice ring to it. In the music video for Paramore’s latest single, “Running Out of Time,” from This Is Why, frontwoman Hayley Williams slips into a guitar case that doubles as a portal, desperate to get away from the studio instruments that have somehow come to life and grown ten times their original size.

Contrary to the name of the track Paramore performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night, the band made it to the late-night stage without any schedule-related issues, rocking out to “Running Out of Time” in a rather timely manner.

“War’s on the side of the planet/ And I’ve got a war right behind my eyes,” yelps Hayley Williams on Paramore’s sixth album. Exorcising the angst of 2022 to an elasticated post-punk beat, the 33-year-old frontwoman speaks to the struggle of many “safe, privileged” Westerners to find “a balance between apathy and righteous rage”. She continues: “I worry and I give money and I feel useless behind this computer and that’s just barely scratched the surface of my mind…”

Paramore have mastered the art of maturing gracefully. Beginning with the band’s self-titled 2013 album, they have slowly peeled themselves away from the mainstream emo/pop-punk world they once dominated (all while dealing with constant lineup shake-ups). In the process, Paramore have found themselves attached to a different kind of musical nostalgia, zeroing in on the slick sounds of Eighties rock and New Wave without so much as a hint of corny pastiche. As omnivorous fans and champions of younger artists, they always remain steeped in pop’s ever-evolving present.

Paramore have removed former band member Jeremy Davis from the artwork of their self-titled album.
Released in 2013 and featuring the singles “Now” and “Still Into You”, Paramore featured album art showing Davis, singer Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York stood against a black background.
On Tuesday (15 November), Kerrang reported that the picture had been swapped out on streaming for an image of a person with red hair (presumably Williams) wearing a denim jacket emblazoned with the words “grow up”.
It is not known when the album art was changed, but many fans have speculated that it is a move to further distance themselves from Davis.
The bassist left the pop punk band in December 2015, having previously departed then returned in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
Months after his final departure, the musician sued Paramore twice, claiming he wasn’t fairly paid for his contributions to the group. The lawsuit was settled in May 2017.

Alt-rock musician Phil Danyew spent the last six years touring and playing keys with Foster the People. “Now, I’m off in a cave making my own music again,” the multi-instrumentalist said on March 2nd. About a month later, he released “Cool to Be Unhappy,” the debut single from his new project, Elephant Castle.
The mid-tempo track is a stoner’s delight — a breezy, bright, and woozy take on a go-to breakup song. Mellifluous melodies reminiscent of Tame Impala and retro synth sounds leave the listener floating. For a song...

Singer-songwriter Becca Mancari has returned with the slinky new song “Hunter.” It’s the first new music Mancari has released since her album Good Woman came out in 2017.
“The letters in the mailbox say ‘I’m gonna hunt you down,'” Mancari sings, backed by a track of shimmering synthesizers and pointillist strings before a skittering drum groove and serrated-edge electric guitar enter the picture. The song was inspired by an traumatic and threatening series of letters telling her to “repent” from someone she’d known at church many years before.

In the spring of 2017, Hayley Williams moved into the first home where she’d ever lived alone. Earlier that year, she had finished recording After Laughter, her fifth album with Paramore, and broken up with her longtime partner, New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. “Half of me was very drawn to the romanticism of this artist who has had success but now is living in this small cottage by herself, and there’s these huge fucking spiders and bats,” Williams says, laughing over tea at the Bowery Hotel in New York.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams experiences a metamorphosis in the new video for “Leave It Alone,” the second single from her upcoming debut solo album Petals for Armor, out May 8th.
Directed by Warren Fu, who also oversaw lead single “Simmer,” the clip features Williams as an insect waking up in a cocoon. “Don’t nobody tell me that God don’t have a sense of humor/ Cause now that I want to live,” she sings before strolling through the woods. “Well everybody around me is dying/ Now that I finally...

Hayley Williams, known best as the lead singer of Paramore, has announced her debut solo LP, Petals for Armor, due out May 8th. On Wednesday, she released her lead single from the album, called “Simmer.”
The accompanying Warren Fu-directed short film for the song was written by Williams and her Paramore bandmates Taylor York (who also produced the clip) and Joey Howard, along with Fu and creative director Lindsey Byrnes. The members of Paramore have clearly spent some time watching bad local TV morning shows, and channeled their television trauma into the video for The band’s latest single, “Rose-Colored Boy”. Paramore delivered a spry rendition of their Eighties-pop tinged single "Told You So" on The Late Late Show With James Corden Wednesday. The track appears on the band's new album, After Laughter.
The band dashed through the track while bathed in red light and wearing matching red berets. While guitarist Taylor York picked out bubbly riffs and Zac Farro laid down a sugar-rush beat, singer Hayley Williams commandeered the band with a spirited vocal performance packed with equal parts power pop and punk energy. Paramore’s newest song is called “Hard Times,” but their music video for the ’80s-inspired track is all fun: Frontwoman Hayley Williams performs in a candy-colored set that’s equal parts Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Michel Gondry between shots of her and her bandmates against playful, animated backdrops.
“Hard Times” is the first single off After Laughter, Paramore’s first album since their 2013 self-titled entry. That record featured “Still Into You” and “Ain’t It Fun,” the band’s most commercially successful single to date.

It’s no secret that Paramore has been in the studio hard at work on their fifth full-length album, but now, we’re getting a look at just how far along in the process they are. Spoiler alert: they’re almost done.
In an Instagram post on the band’s account, Paramore showed off their “song board” for their upcoming record – a chart in the studio that helps keep track of the progress of each song. Unlike most song boards you see in ‘behind-the-scenes’ pictures, this one doesn’t share any working track titles – instead, it’s a close-up view of some empty boxes coupled with the caption, “Vox are 2 X’s away from #pmorealbum5.” Basically, frontwoman Hayley Williams just needs to lay down vocal tracks for two more songs until all the vocals are done, which could also mean that it wraps up completion of the album, too.

New York — Hayley Williams of Paramore said joining rapper B.o.B on the hip-hop groove "Airplanes" helped her band realize they needed to take more chances.
The monster jam sold more than 4 million tracks and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2011. Williams said the song's success came at a perfect time: Two of the members of Paramore left the group, and the newly formed trio began work on their fourth album and wanted to expand beyond their signature punk-rock sound.
"Our fans were so into it, I felt like (B.o.B's) fans were into it and ... I just realized it's good to take risks," the bright-haired 24-year-old singer said in a recent interview. "And I think that (it) kind of really fell into place at the right time because when it came time to write this record, it was all about taking risks and following what we...

Since forming in 2004, Paramore have become one of the front runners for alternative rock music. Led by flame-haired vocalist Hayley Williams, Paramore have three albums and a number of tours under their belt. After taking some time off, Paramore are back with a self-titled album set to be released later this year and new single 'Now', which has just dropped on Radio 1. With that in mind, Digital Spy takes a closer look at the American rockers. 1. The road to Paramore began in 2002 when a 13-year-old Hayley Williams moved to Franklin, Tennessee and met brothers Josh and Zac Farro. Williams was part of a funk cover band, The Factory, with bassist Jeremy Davis, and these four teamed up and went on to officially form Paramore in 2004. 2. Prior to Paramore, Williams took vocal lessons with Brett Manning. Manning has also worked (more)...

Less than six months ago, Paramore said they were determined to have more fun while recording their fourth studio album .
Well, so much for that.
On Wednesday, singer Hayley Williams gave fans a long-awaited update on the band's still-untitled effort, which, from the sounds of it, has not been much of a party so far.
"I've never known what it's like to be home for more than a few weeks at a time that absolutely nothing is going on," wrote Williams in a lengthy post in which she decried how quickly time flies. "The only thing I could think about was if we could snap our fingers and make the 4th album happen so that the next time I looked up, we'd be back on a stage somewhere and not sitting around at home.

And so we have the second of our lists. Myself and, fellow WhatCulture music writer, Rhys Milsom have compiled another list of 10 albums to watch out for this year, this time focussing the latter half of the year and some of the releases with unspecified release dates that are due for dropping this year.
Judging by the releases on display, the end half of this year is going to be of just as high a calibre as that of the first half; with some classics in the making, big artists returning, up and comers proving their worth and make or break time for other artists.
2012 looks set to be an exciting time for music new and old, so at least if the world does end come December, musically speaking at least, we’ll be going out with a bang, not a whimper.
