New Kick Ass 2 movie delivered great action, comedy, drama & more. Universal Pictures released their new comedy/action flick, "Kick Ass 2" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was great, delivering tons of action, comedy, hardcore drama, and more. It stars: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, and Jim Carrey. In the new flick, Dave Lizewski aka Kick-Ass and Mindy Macready aka Hit-Girl teamed back up to fight more crime until Mindy's guardian, Detective Marcus Williams, convinces her that she needs to stop and just be a normal girl with normal girl pals. From there, Dave is left to fend for his self until he runs into a new group of crime-fighters called "Justice Forever," spear-headed by Colonel Stars (Jim Carrey). Meanwhile, character Chris D'Amico aka The Motherfucker is hell-bent on destroying Kick-Ass for killing his father, and hires...

The sequel to 2010's punk-superhero rampage has lost quite a bit of shock value – but Chloë Grace Moretz's Hit-Girl is still the coolest thing in a cape

In 2010, screenwriter Jane Goldman and director Matthew Vaughn brought Kick-Ass to the screen, the creation of graphic novelist Mark Millar. It was a brilliant and brazen black-comic fantasy about a shy teen trying to make it as an actual crime fighter. Goldman and Vaughn ignited a new spirit of punk rock in the world of masks and capes. They challenged the placid superhero supergroups, and for my money revived the authentic teen romance and teen pathos of comic-book escapism. Now an enjoyable, though less daring and more conventional sequel has reunited the two young stars of that bizarre and bizarrely thrilling escapade: Dave Lizewski, Kick-Ass...

The first Kick-Ass movie ended on the usual superhero note: it set things up for a sequel. Ordinary high-schooler Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) had established himself as masked crusader Kick-Ass, with lethal tween Mindy Macready (Chloe Grace Moretz) -- aka Hit Girl -- poised to become his partner. Rich, spoiled, whiny Chris D'Amico (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), another would-be hero, had sworn revenge on Kick-Ass for killing his crime-boss father. All the pieces were in place for a decent sequel -- so what happened? Why is Kick-Ass 2 a repellant, mostly unfunny, distasteful-and-not-in-a-good-way mess of mixed messages and tonal confusion? Actually, it doesn't really matter why it's bad; what's relevant is that it is. Puzzling over how it came to be that way -- Mark Millar and...

Plot: After inspiring a wave of new people to don costumes and fight crime, David Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) comes out of retirement, and once again becomes Kick-Ass. With Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) sidelined by a need to be a .normal teenager., Kick-Ass joins Justice Forever, a superhero club run by a former Mafia thug, turned born-again superhero calling himself Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey). Meanwhile, wanting to avenge the death of his father, Chris D'Amico (Christopher...

I can understand where the filmmakers are coming from on this one, I'm finding it hard enough to find the energy to just write a review of Kick-Ass 2. Just imagine if I had to write and direct the actual movie. Kick-Ass 2 may in fact serve as evidence even Hollywood has become bored with its tired routine of sequelizing every film possible in hopes of a lucrative franchise or, at the very least, enough films to release a trailer with the accompanying phrase, "The conclusion to the epic trilogy..." Well, chances are the Kick-Ass franchise will have to end as a duology as this sequel to the mediocre, 2010 original more or less tells the same story, but can't even seem to muster up any measure of excitement in the process as it goes through the motions without much of a pulse. The first film introduced Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson...

★★☆☆☆ Released back in 2010, Matthew Vaughn's teen superhero caper Kick-Ass - based on the graphic novel by fellow Brit Mark Millar - went on to become a surprise hit at the box office, making a household name out of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and introducing the world to Chloë Grace Moretz's effing and jeffing 11-year-old Hit-Girl. With greenhorn Jeff Wadlow now replacing Vaughn in the director's chair for summer sequel Kick-Ass 2 (2013), hopes were high that the two young(ish) leads could rekindle their past chemistry. Unfortunately, whatever smarts the franchise once had appear to have been knocked out of it in the first round.
Wadlow's film picks up the story four years down the line. Taylor-Johnson's Dave Lizewski (aka Kick-Ass) and Moretz's Mindy Macready (Hit-Girl) have settled into the normality of high school life following the blood-letting and bazooka wielding of Vaughn's inaugural offering. Now in the care of guardian...

Review James Hunt 12 Aug 2013 - 21:52
Kick-Ass is back, but can it match the humour and impact of the original? Here's James' spoiler-free review of Kick-Ass 2...
You can't take three steps this year without tripping over a superhero sequel at the box office, and that makes it the perfect time for a follow up to Kick-Ass, the superhero-skewering action movie that was part-homage, part-parody, and all-brilliant. Three years have passed since the original, and although still produced by Matthew Vaughn, it now has a new writer-director in the shape of upstart Jeff Wadlow. But has it retained what made the original great?
For the most part, yes. It's at least as violent and satirical and funny as the original, and at times it's actually more shocking. But rather than just remake the first film, Wadlow has done something a little different with Kick-Ass, producing a film that's far more character-focused.

The latest poster has arrived for Universal Pictures' upcoming Kick-Ass 2 release, featuring Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass, Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit-Girl and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D'Amico / The Mother Fucker. It's hard to see how this one will box office coin-wise, with all the violence withing, but I'm game. The first Kick-Ass was outstanding, and since I'm not super-sensitive, I'll be having a gander at some stage as well. The cast also includes Lyndsy Fonseca, Clark Duke, Lee Asquith-Cow, Lindy Booth, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Claudia Lee, Ella Purnell and Olga Kurkilina.

The viral war for "Kick-Ass 2" is just now kicking into high gear.
Over the last weekend, the members of Justice Forever implored fans to join their cause against Chris D'Amico and his evil gang of criminals. Now, it's time for the other side to make their case. And their case is simple.
Follow The @MotherF_cker.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse's leather-clad alter-ego is officially on Twitter, interacting with fans and running his mouth like an absolute mad man. His opening tweet, which we're going to censor here, says it all: "If you've got a little motherf---er in you… or ladies, if you want a little motherf---er in you… tweet me back!" And his profile, also simple: "What's my super power? I'm rich as sh--."
A real picture of class, that one.
Go follow @MotherF_cker if you want to hear other, similar gems. Or, if you want to follow a nobler path,...

It seems like just yesterday Chris D'Amico and David "Dave" Lizewski were duking it out in 2010's "Kick-Ass," clad in pastel spandex and armed with vicious, vicious words.
Three years later, round two is right in audiences' reach. Yes, "Kick-Ass 2" is prepared to kick some major box office ass when it hits theaters Aug. 16. Dave (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Mindy Macready/Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) all return in the sequel, which is sure to provide eager fans with the same cuckoo bananas action and laughs as its predecessor. Dave, with freshly sharpened skills à la Hit-Girl, has joined the crime-fighting troupe known as Justice Forever. Meanwhile, Chris has his own villainous gang known as The Toxic Mega C**ts. What a visual!
However, MTV couldn't wait until August. The cast of "Kick-Ass 2" let MTV News explore the set in October, and the findings were pretty.

Gone are the days of McLovin. Here to stay is the reign of the Motherf---er.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse upgrades his name and level of villainy in "Kick-Ass 2," transforming from Red Mist into a vicious alias that we can't even fully spell out for you without a bar of soap in our mouths. Producer Matthew Vaughn tells Empire that even though Chris D'Amico is up to no good in the "Kick-Ass" sequel, audiences are going to love what they see.
"When we did the test screening he basically kills a lot of your favorite characters, and there's some heavy, heavy s---, but the test audiences love [him]," he said. "He's got that Tom Hanks thing where no matter what he does, you still like him."
Meanwhile, director Jeff Wadlow tells Empire that fans are in for an even bigger treat with Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars & Stripes.

"Kick-Ass 2" may still be a whole year away, but it feels as though its release is just around the corner. Last week, we were treated to a plethora of leaked set photos showcasing the villains of the "Kick-Ass" sequel; Mother Russia, Night B--ch, and of course, The Mother F-- uh... Red Mist. Clearly, this is not the same McLovin' that we've all grown to know and love.
There's no question that Christopher Mintz-Plasse did a terrific job of bringing the "Kick-Ass" hero turned villain to life up on the silver screen. But how does his portrayal of The Red Mist stack up against his comic book counterpart? Find out after the jump!
What Worked: The movie version of Chris D'Amico (a.k.a. Red Mist) sees him as the son of Frank D'Amico, a ruthless mob boss with a disgust for all things superhero. In the comics,...

The filming of Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2 is taking place over on Yonge Street in Toronto. There you can see for the first time actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse in his new costume. As you will remember, in the first film Christopher's character Chris D'Amico referred to himself as Red Mist when he was in costume, but in the sequel he will have the much more vulgar moniker, The Mother F*cker. The story centers around Christopher's character seeking to avenge the death of his father, Frank D'Amico. If the film is anything like Mark Millar and John Rimata Jr.'s comic book, you will be shocked at how far he is willing go to get even with Kick-Ass. According to THR, Yancy Butler has signed on to reprise the role of Nancy D'Amico -- Mother to Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s Chris D'Amico -- in Jeff Wadlow's sequel to Kick-Ass. The site doesn't say, but I would assume she will be doing more than a one scene cameo this time around. THR also refer to the movie as "Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Walls". We had heard that this might be the title they went with, but since then it had appeared the subtitle had been dropped. Is this official now? We'll see I guess. Also reprising their roles are Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, and Mintz-Plasse. New additions so far are Donald Faison and John Lequizamo. Still no word on who will play Mother Russia, it seems they are having a bit of a hard time finding a suitable lady for that role.

Jeff Wadlow's sequel to probably one of the best comic book adaptions of the last few year's, Kick-Ass, is gearing up to start shooting soon, and work has leaked that John Leguizamo (Moulin Rouge, Ice Age) has joined the cast. He will play Javier, bodyguard to Christopher Mintz-Plasse's bad guy Chris D'Amico, Red Mist in the original movie, but now going by the name The Motherf***er. He joins other returning cast members Chloe Grace Moretz, Aaron Johnson, and a rumored Nicholas Cage. The film is said to adapt the Kick-Ass 2 comic, and it's prequel series Hit-Girl, currently on it's 2nd issue. Leguizamo has also being cast in Ridley Scott's The Councelor, alongside Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz. Source: Deadline...
