"I definitely think this song has brought me closer to the fans in a deep way, and I think it's allowed me to be a bit more vulnerable than I was," he says, confessing that he still gets emotional on stage when he hears his loyal Hayniacs singing along. It could have gone either way. As Season 12 came to a close, it was a toss up in the minds of many as to who would take the coveted title and become the next American Idol (TV). As far as Kree Harrison was concerned, she was just honored to be in the final two. As her friend Candice was announced as the winner, Kree could not have been happier for her, and graciously accepted the role of this year's runner up. Kree sat down with journalists the morning after the Idol finale to answer questions about her life-changing journey and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead for her. It was her birthday, and she had just been informed that she had been invited to sing at the Grand Ole Opry, a lifelong dream of hers. The 23-year-old singer from Nashville, Tennessee was having a happy birthday, indeed. And this was just the beginning.

We are only two months away from the Oscars, and members of the Academy are hard at work trying to decide who best deserves one of those five nomination slots.
Today, they released their shortlist for Best Original Song which tops out at an impressive 41 songs.
But we can already make an educated guess as to which five will be competition on Oscar night based on who the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards favored, and none of them involve Justin Bieber or Debbie Gibson.
“I See the Light” from “Tangled” earned a Best Song nod from both, as did “If I Rise” from “127 Hours” and “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from “Burlesque.” Randy Newman’s “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3″ also seems a lock, since all of Newman’s songs for Disney/Pixar have scored nominations over the years.

Could this be the hippest Best Original Song category in years? Meh, probably not. Basically, it works like this. If you had an original song in a movie this year, you're basically on the shortlist (hello Katrina Elam for "Pure Country 2"). Then, the Academy goes through a pretty ridiculous system to determine the nominees (more on that in a second) which results in small handful of final contenders who are all usually from one or two films (get ready for mulitiple nods "Burleseque"!). So what does that all mean? Well, hopefully we won't have to deal with Justin Bieber's…...
