Marcus King leans back and takes a swig from a can of Coors Light as he talks about having premonitions of his own doom. The singer-guitarist turned 25 last year, and went through a period of profound heartbreak and self-destructive behavior. He kept hearing one English rock band’s songs in unlikely places.
“I would hear Free everywhere, like deep-cut tunes you never really hear. Because everybody knows ‘All Right Now,’” King says. “I was in a restaurant and ‘Wishing Well’ would come on, or I was watching the [FX on Hulu] show Devs,...

President Donald Trump‘s use of Twitter has long been a controversial component of his presidency, for several reasons. One of them is his frequent hitting of the “block” button, which the president has unleashed on a number of notable actors, authors and activists who have used Twitter as a platform to criticize him and his administration.
On Tuesday, model Chrissy Teigen, voted one of Time’s 2017 “25 Most Influential People on the Internet,” was the latest to be blocked by the president.
Here’s a running list of people who have received the “@arealDonaldTrump blocked you” message on Twitter.

Kings of Leon are back and ready to put out their brand new album. Their seventh full-length effort, entitled Walls, is set for release on October 14th via RCA Records.
After ten years worth of albums produced by Angelo Petraglia, the band enlisted Grammy award winning producer and songwriter Markus Dravs to work behind the boards on Walls. Despite the change, Kings of Leon were still in good hands: Dravs’ credits include albums from Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons, and Coldplay.
Back in late 2015, singer Caleb Followill and drummer Nathan Followill spoke with Associated Press about how they’ll split their time recording in Los Angeles and their hometown of Nashville.
The band’s been teasing their new album and the title Walls on social media outlets this entire week, as members have been using hashtags and posting cryptic content on Instagram. Although the ten track album has now been officially announced,...

There is genuine if exasperated warmth here, but it is far less satisfyingly bound up into a cohesive story in this halfhearted retread of the original film. I’m “biast” (pro): liked the first film
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
I recently rewatched the original My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which I enjoyed back in the day but had not seen since it was new in 2002. And it holds up well: it’s not perfect, and it’s a bit too heavy on the ethnic humor and sitcom schtick, but at its core there is a sweet story about a young woman coming out of her shell and finding herself in a way that her loving but overbearing family hadn’t allowed her to do before. That’s not the sort of story we often see in mainstream Hollywood films,...

Ed Sheeran and Bill Withers joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show to promote an upcoming Carnegie Hall tribute and charity concert in Withers' honor that will benefit the Stuttering Association for the Young — something both musicians suffered from as children.
Sheeran did most of the talking, admitting he still stutters occasionally and noting the impediment arose after doctors forgot to apply an anesthetic while removing a birthmark around his eye. On top of that, Sheeran said he used to wear massive National Health Service-issued eyeglasses and has no eardrum in one ear.

Is it September yet? Stephen Colbert won't make his debut as the new host of The Late Show until Tuesday, Sept. 8, but we're 99.9 percent sure he's going to crush it. Why? Because even his temporary marquee at The Ed Sullivan Theater is the best thing ever. While the theater is undergoing renovations for Colbert's big debut, its longtime neighbor, Angelo's Pizza, is not, so CBS decided to have a little fun with its new marquee. Yes, that is Colbert reclining while enjoying a slice of 'za (that's pizza, duh), letting the public know Angelo's is still open during renovations. (The photo was first posted on Twitter by Chris O'Leary.) So aside from pizza-related...

Right now, the semi-annual Television Critics Association tour — where the TV shows try to get that elusive media buzz that turns a show into a must-see — is assembling. Even though it isn’t set to debut until next year, there was a panel to discuss Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, which included several revelations about the series. The series will be set in 2002, six years before Saul‘s first Breaking Bad appearance, when Saul was still Jimmy McGill. Meanwhile, Michael McKean‘s will be playing Jimmy/Saul’s brother.

The Kings of Leon have announced the new studio album .Mechanical Bull. will arrive September 24th from RCA Records. The album was produced by Angelo Petraglia and was recorded at the band's studio in Nashville, Tn. Kings of Leon are fresh off three acclaimed headlining performances at American festivals, Bottle Rock in Napa, CA, Hangout in Gulf Shores, Al, and, most recently, this past weekend's Governor's Ball in New York City, during which the festival cancelled the band's Friday night performance due to Tropical Storm Andrea. Kings of Leon's new album Come Around Sundown represents a big turning point for the band, as it is their first release since they broke out in gigantic fashion with the single "Use Somebody" (from their 2008 album Only by the Night). Produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King (the same team behind Only by the Night), the new album continues the trend the band began on their previous effort. It's full of lush production and massive hooks with full-throated choruses and singalong melodies. If you liked Only by the Night, you'll probably love Come Around Sundown.
But what have the critics said about Only by the Night, which will no doubt be one of the most written-about albums of 2010? Last week, MTV News' own James Montgomery weighed in on the record, and he was mostly nonplussed. "Come Around Sundown is the Kings playing it safe, laying up close to the hole and settling for par,...

It would be easy to hate the Kings of Leon for making Come Around Sundown mostly because it's the follow-up to their Grammy-winning breakthrough Only by the Night. But really, that wouldn't be particularly fair. After all, the Kings spent their first nine years as America's most under-appreciated band (drummer Nathan Followill once lamented to me that all reporters in the States ever asked them about was their mustaches) only to stumble into fame thanks to songs like "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody." They have, in almost every conceivable way, earned everything they have today, so you really can't blame them for wanting to take a victory lap.
And Sundown (due Tuesday) is most definitely a victory lap. The majority of it sounds like...

The band began recording the set, helmed by “Night’s” producers Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King, at New York’s Avatar Studios in February following a few years of solid touring. “This was the first time we’d ever recorded in New York City,” the band’s drummer Nathan Followill told Hitfix’s Katie Hasty in May. “We thought we’d come out with a little more darker record,” Followill says, noting that the previous albums were laid down largely in Los Angeles, where there...
