The stakes are high this week on “So You Think You Can Dance” as three contemporary contestants — Gino Cosculluela, Sophie Pittman and Mariah Russell — plus b-boy Bailey Munoz compete for viewer votes to become America’s favorite dancer.
Right now, Gold Derby-ites are picking Bailey aka Bailrok as the one to beat. Like last season’s champ Hannahlei Cabanilla, the Las Vegas native is Filipino-American. Even though he is just 19 (and admitted on air that he doesn’t have a driver’s license), the 5-foot-tall whirling dervish has already had plenty of experience of basking in the spotlight.
The dancing bug initially bit when Bailey was in the first grade. At age 9 in 2010, Bailey got a spot on the semi-finals of “America’s Got Talent” as part of a duo called Future Funk.

“So You Think You Can Dance” just ended its 15th season. At the end of the night, in what host Cat Deeley described as the closest vote between first and second place in the show’s history, Hannahlei Cabanilla eked out a win over Jensen Arnold. Genessy Castillo finished third. And Slavik Pustovoytov finished fourth. Now that the season is over and Cabanilla joins the storied history of “Sytycd” champs, where do you think she ranks in the history of the show? Check out the full list of winners in the gallery above. And vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

So You Think You Can Dance‘s second round of auditioners chose some spellbinding genres, including Broadway jazz, krumping, and a West Coast, disco-fied cousin of voguing called “waacking” that left me speechless. And nearly decapitated! (Watch those spinning arms, girl!)
Picking the five best auditions from Slc and NYC is no easy task, especially considering that Sytycd never fails to deliver showmanship. That said, I suppose I’ll have to go with the quintet that I’ve already watched twice:

Korbi TV is in the performing arts theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for "So You Think You Can Dance" final auditions right this minute, kids!
Take a quick look at the clip below...
One note: The blonde on the judging panel is not Cat Deeley, but Toni Redpath, a well-known ballroom dancer who has choreographed for the show in seasons past. I'm told that she joins "Sytycd" as a judge this year. You'll first see her at the Dallas auditions, and obviously, again in Vegas.
Deeley is also here, but her adorable face is busy interviewing dancers after they leave the stage.
Anyhoo, I'm here, so if you have "So You Think You Can Dance" questions for me, e-mail me at kghosh@zap2it.com.

"So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe made a stunning announcement on Monday (March 29), outlining the major changes coming to the dance series this season: Not only will there be just 10 finalists chosen in Vegas, but those finalists will be partnered with a new "Sytycd" alum each week of the competition.
Lythgoe promised to reveal which of the show's "all-stars" have signed on to return via Twitter and he wasn't lying.
"I am thrilled that representing the various dance genres of Popping, Locking, Krump etc in the All-Stars Dance-Pool from Season 4 is Twitch," Lythgoe tweeted Tuesday morning.
No surprise there, considering Stephen "tWitch" Boss -- who is starring in the upcoming "Step Up 3D" and "Stomp the Yard 2" films -- was easily one of the most likable and talented contestants ever to grace the "So You Think You Can Dance" stage and was clearly...

Recently, "So You Think You Can Dance" judge Nigel Lythgoe teased some major changes coming to the show via Twitter.
Korbi TV caught up with Lythgoe at the show's Los Angeles auditions on Saturday (March 27) and attempted to get a little clarification.
Is it true that there won't be a Top 20 this season?
"It is true that there will not be 20 dancers competing," Lythgoe answers in the clip below.
So, we're assuming that means fewer dancers are making the cut.
Nigel, as you'll see, answers this question in a somewhat cryptic manner, but does admit, that with a smaller group, we'll of course get better acquainted with each contestant.
Lythgoe says he's very excited about the changes, which will be officially announced Monday afternoon, but the biggest news is already known: Only one dancer will be going home every week, not two.
Also, the partners will change every week.

The back-to-back seasons of So You Think You Can Dance may have given us a bit of a Mary Murphy-screaming hangover, but we're totally recovered now. As you may recall, Fox decided to audition the summer hit as an autumn entry. It worked out Ok, but executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe even admitted it was not without its flaws. Season-five champ Jeanine Mason didn't get to reign as America's Favorite Dancer for nearly long enough, and season-six winner Russell Ferguson, along with the rest of the Top 10 dancers, didn't get to tour the country performing the best routines of the cycle. Alas, a big decision has been made about the Cat Deeley-hosted reality competition… Sytycd is...

Is "So You Think You Can Dance's" Season 6 Top 10 coming to a venue near you in the new year?
Turns out, probably not.
Though a post-season, multi-city tour for the final ten (oftentimes 12) talented dancers left standing has become as much a part of "So You Think You Can Dance" as the actual TV show itself, it looks like Season 6's winners probably won't have that part of the experience.
Last week, finalist Mollee Gray Tweeted -- "I just heard we aren't having a tour?! Ugghh man that sucks for sure ... :( I'm gunna cry :(" -- and though her fellow "Dance" finalists have kept mum on the subject (we're thinking they were asked to stay quiet) a show rep does confirm that there is no Season 6 tour planned at this time.

Days after Russell Ferguson won So You Think You Can Dance on one leg his Cheshire Cat grin is still fresh in my mind.
Russell is from Roxbury, Massachusetts, a high crime urban area that the City of Boston's governmental web page refers to as "the heart of black culture in Boston." He was the first krumper ever to compete on So You Think You Can Dance, but he won having only danced in his natural style once on the series.

So You Think You Can Dance winner Russell Ferguson has revealed the real story behind his injury on last night's results show. In an interview with People, he said that he sprained his ankle during the hip-hop routine with Kevin Hunte and Jonathan 'Legacy' Perez. "At the end, I was pretty much running off of adrenaline. After I jumped off the stage into krump, when Kevin and 'Legacy' pulled me back up, I had come down on my leg wrong and something shifted over my ankle and it caused it to swell up. And it was real tight, so I wasn't cleared to be able to dance for the rest of the night. But I could walk," he explained. He went on to admit that the moment was made even more frightening (more)...

During Wednesday's live "So You Think You Can Dance" finale, not everything went as smoothly as producers may have hoped. And if you were watching, you definitely noticed.
The moment came midway through the show. The camera was on host Cat Deeley, as it so often is, and she was trying to introduce the next segment... we think.
Why aren't we sure?
Well, her microphone was out and we couldn't really hear what she was saying.
Cat kept her calm and crossed the stage, which gave her a few seconds to collect her thoughts and wait for a hand held mic to be delivered. But just as that disaster was taken care of, another fire erupted.
Cat called the Top 6 to the stage for the first elimination of the evening, however only half of the contestants came out.

An injury didn't keep Russell Ferguson from winning Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" Wednesday night.
The 20-year-old Boston native announced on the finale, "I messed my leg up." As a result, the audience had to watch taped versions of two dances he was supposed to re-perform Wednesday night, a hip-hop routine and "Frog Dance."
Still, he took home the sixth season's top honors -- and $250,000.
Upon hearing the news, he screamed and ripped his shirt off.

After the judges spoke and America voted, a consensus has been reached that Russell Ferguson, not only thinks he can dance, he can. The krump dancer from Massachusetts was named the winner of season six of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance." To reach the finals, Russell left his comfort zone to explore and master a wide range of dance genres, including lyrical jazz, the Paso Doble, and hip hop. Also on the finale, Adam Lambert returned to primetime television after his controversial American Music Awards performance. Jennifer Lopez put her Ama slip up behind her as well. In ode to the show, the high-heeled "Louboutins" singer featured contestants from the present and past seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance" as her backup dancers. This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with the still elated and sore winner of season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance, Russell Ferguson. The star of season 6 from his first audition, Russell didn't seem all that surprised about his victory, but he was incredibly grateful. When asked if he had any final words for us, Russell simply said, "I just love America." As his win last night proved, the feeling is mutual.
America's brand new favorite dancer chatted with us about the injury he suffered during last night's finale and how a backstage chat with is Dad helped him get through the difficult night. He also tried to clear up the confusion about his pre-So You Think You Can Dance training and told us about what he hopes his future holds.

On Wednesday, December 16, Adam Lambert returned to Fox, the TV network which brought him to fame through "American Idol". This time around, he took the stage as one of the performers for the live result show of the network's "So You Think You Can Dance" finale.
Sporting a gray suit, Adam delivered "Whataya Want From Me", a single taken from his debut album "For Your Entertainment". He came onto the stage accompanied by his band after Leona Lewis finished her "I See You" set.
Another musical act was Mary J. Blige who sang "I Am" from her December 21 release "Stronger with Each Tear". Then, Jennifer Lopez sang "Louboutins" before the show announced Russell Ferguson as the winner of this season's reality dancing competition.

What a finale for krumper Russell Ferguson.
He experienced the highest of highs, earning the "So You Think You Can Dance" season 6 crown. However, the night was no fairytale for him.
Suffering an injury at the end of the hip hop number he performed with fellow finalists Legacy Perez and Kevin Hunte, Russell lost control of his emotions when he realized what had happened.
So what did happen?
"When I was coming up, back onto the stage after jumping off and being all in the camera's face, I landed wrong," Russell told us. "And I guess something got like shifted or like stretched out of place in my leg... It got real numb and swollen."
So why was he able to jump for joy when he found out he'd won the competition an hour later?

The most painful part of tonight's So You Think You Can Dance finale was not watching Adam Lambert turn in a creatively neutered performance of "Whattya Want From Me." No, it was seeing krumper Russell Ferguson limp onto the stage for the first cut of the night with help from fellow top-sixer Ryan Di Lillo. "I messed my leg up," Russell told a startled Cat Deeley, who needed the immediate delivery of a new microphone after the sound had pooped out moments before. The fan fave was unable to dance any further after perhaps busting his knee during the hip-hop number he stomped out with Legacy Perez and Kevin Hunte. So the audience had to make do with taped versions of the two other...

A new winner of "So You Think You Can Dance" has been crowned on Wednesday, December 16, and it was krumper Russell Ferguson who came out as America's favorite dancer. Having little training and no experience in the type of dances required for the competition, the 20-year-old has been the favorite among the judges and audience alike throughout season six.
During the result show finale, however, the krumper wasn't able to perform on stage. Within the first 45 minutes, he was seen limping onto the stage with the help of fellow competitor Ryan Di Lillo for the first cut. It was revealed that he broke his ankle after a routine. To host Cat Deeley, he shared, "I messed my leg up".
It was then announced that Di Lillo finished in sixth place, followed by wife Ashleigh Di Lello in fifth, Ellenore Scott in fourth, Kathryn McCormick in third and Jakob Karr in second.

Bruised but not beaten, Russell Ferguson took the crown on this season's "So You Think You Can Dance". He is the 20-year-old Krumper who has been the judges and audience's favorite throughout the season although he has little formal education in dancing and has little experience in the type of dances required during the competition.
Interestingly, Russell was injured during the finale on Wednesday, December 16 within the first 45 minutes. He broke his ankle after a routine and was crying. Ryan Di Lello had to help him to get on the stage to hear the result where Ryan was announced as the dancer who finished sixth.
More results were read out, Ryan's wife Ashleigh finished fifth, Ellenore finished fourth, Kathryn finished third and Jakob became the runner-up. In between the announcements, there were performances by Leona Lewis who sang the "Avatar" theme, Adam Lambert who performed "Whataya Want From Me" and...

Russell Ferguson made "So You Think You Can Dance" history this week, becoming the first finalist to lose his partner to injury twice, being forced to perform with last second fill-ins.
You may recall that this went down back in October when Noelle Marsh hurt her knee and had to sit the first week of competition out. Russell performed a ballroom number with choreographer Melanie Lapatin in her place.
This week, the kid had to do a Shane Sparks hip hop routine and a Nakul Dev Mahajan Bollywood piece sans a sling-armed Ashleigh.
Korbi TV caught up with Russell backstage after Wednesday's results show -- during which he was the first to learn that he'd been voted into next week's finale -- where he commented on the crazy situation: "It was complicated because, you know, it's very nerve-wracking coming on to the stage, just all those people screaming your name,...

The contestants of "So You Think You Can Dance" season 6 have been narrowed down to 6 on Wednesday, December 9. Two were sent home, while Ashleigh Di Lello was absent from performing after popping her shoulder out of her socket.
Jonathan "Legacy" Perez and Ryan Dilello were in the bottom two in men's part. And when it came to women's turn, Mollee Gray and Ellenore Scott were revealed as the two to be in the unsafe zone. The safe participants beside Ashley thus were Jakob Karr, Russell Ferguson, and Kathryn McCormick.
While the folks in the bottom four were preparing for their solos, the so-called "Asia's No. 1 Pop Group," the Wonder Girls took the stage and performed their hit single "I Want Nobody But You", which reportedly is the English version of "Nobody". And prior to the final results, audience were treated to a performance from "American Idol" 8th season champion Kris Allen...

Something has changed on So You Think You Can Dance. And I'm not just talking about the sad departure of Mia Michaels, or that strange sulphuric smell ever since an over-hyped Katie Holmes stunk up the place with her pre-taped Judy Garland song and dance "tribute." (Yeah, we're all still scratching our heads over that one.)
No, the change I'm referring to is a good one: The show isn't so darn homophobic these days.
This season's Top 10 dancers: Pictured back row L-r: Russell Ferguson, Mollee Gray, Nathan Trasoras, Ryan Di Lello, Jakob Karr, Ashleigh Di Lello and Legacy Perez. Bottom row L-r: Kathryn McCormick, Noelle Marsh and Ellenore Scott.
In previous seasons, Sytycd had a readily apparent mean streak when it came to the gays. Male dancers who were on the... uh... lesser side of butch were routinely criticized for not having enough "chemistry" with their female partners.

Recognition, a spot on tour and a paycheck are all a part of what it means to be in the So You Think You Can Dance top 10. Last week, Karen Hauer, an American Rhythm dancer from Fort Lee, N.J., and Victor Smalley, a contemporary wonder from Miami, barely missed the mark as the judges had their final say in who stays and who goes. This week, season 6's top 10 will get new partners, and the fans will handle the cuts from here on out until a new winner is crowned America's Favorite Dancer. --Jed Dreben Here's a rundown the...

The Top 12 of "So You Think You Can Dance" season 6 have been wilted down to mere 10. Married ballroom dancer couple Ashleigh Di Lello and Ryan Di Lello are through to the next round but Karen Hauer and Victor Smalley have to stop their journey on the show.
During the deliberation, Karen and Victor were joined in the bottom three by Mollee and Nathan; and Ellenore and Ryan. All six of them had to dance for their lives if they wanted to stay in the competition. Karen was criticized for looking like she has surrendered and thus was the first to be eliminated. On the other hand, Victor delivered an energetic piece but it was not enough to convince the judges to keep him.
The Top 10 apart from the Di Lellos are thus Russell Ferguson, Mollee Gray, Jakob Karr, Noelle Marsh, Kathryn McCormick, Jonathan "Legacy" Perez, Ellenore Scott and Nathan Trasoras.

To better cover the technical talents of season 6, we've brought on Dr. Goddess, a guest columnist with decades of dance experience. She will share her dance-pertise in a weekly column recapping and reviewing So You Think You Can Dance with an eye on technique.]
This week's review of So You Think You Can Dance will involve substantial criticism of the choreographers.
The show began with a hip hop piece by new choreographer, Jamal Sims. Noelle Marsh and Russell Ferguson performed the storyline, characters and tennis racket props very well at first but then lost it in the end. While Noelle did pretty well, especially with the dodge-the-bullets-in-slow-motion Matrix dance, Russell brought more energy, confidence and commitment; and he should have, as krumping is a clear sibling of hip hop. Still, the judges were right---they did not take full control of the performance and the props---but the choreography was also too...

Last week, I swear you could hear a collective gasp across America when krumper and pre-season favorite Russell Ferguson was announced as one of the bottom four dancers. That collective gasp was followed by much head scratching and at least a few WTFs?!?
It was clear that Russell would not be eliminated in week one, which left many people postulating that he was placed in the bottom four solely for dramatic effect or to energize his fans into voting. (When voting is allowed.) Not so, says Nigel Lythgoe. The So You Think You Can Dance head judge took to his Twitter to explain why the judges put Russell in the bottom four, saying the krumper simply wasn't good enough in his foxtrot.
