The 44th edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinema has just announced their entire lineup and it’s pretty insane! The festival which takes place in Montreal from October 7 to 18 is screening nearly 400 films and events in only 11 days. This includes 151 feature films and 203 short films from 68 countries – 49 world premieres, 38 North American premieres and 60 Canadian premieres. Give credit to the team of programmers: Claude Chamberlan, Dimitri Eipides Julien Fonfrède, Philippe Gajan, Karolewicz Daniel, Marie-Hélène Brousseau, Katayoun Dibamehr and Gabrielle Tougas-Frechette.

The producers will work together on developing their projects over two events.
The first will take place during the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, April 29-May 3. The second, during the Busan International Film Festival (Oct 2-11).

Vaf production support to five features and two co-productions.
Five features by young filmmakers and two Flemish minority co-productions are among projects to receive production support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (Vaf).
The projects include first-time directors and the new Dardenne brothers film starring Marion Cotillard.
Total production, script and development support in its latest round of funding comes to €2.8m ($3.8m).
Black is the second feature by young Flemish directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (of Image which is currently in post-production). Written by Nele Meirhaeghe, the film is produced by Caviar.
D’Ardennen is Robin Pront’s directorial debut. Based on an original screenplay by actor Jeroen Perceval (Bullhead, Borgman) and Pront, the film is produced by Savage Film (Bullhead).
De derby is the first feature by Lenny Van Wesemael (Dancing With Travolta), based on a screenplay by Geert Verbanck (of the Oscar-nominated short Tanghi Argentini) and Van Wesemael. Production company...

The French sales/production company is supplying this year's Cannes fest with a trio of titles, but you might find me doing cartwheels more for a project that hasn't even began lensing in Marjane Satrapi's Waiting for Azrael. Red, white and green helmer Daniele Luchetti returns to the French festival for the umpteenth time with La Nostra Vita (see pic above) and Takeshi Kitano will break decibel levels with Outrage --- the film's trailer says it all.
