Ivan Bukta, a native of Serbia, is a Screenwriting/Directing graduate of the MFA Film program at Columbia University School of the Arts, and his work has been included in the official selection of 34 international film festivals, contests, and competitions throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, Canada, and Mexico.
He has written and directed twelve short films, including "Breakaway" (2012), which has been screened in thirteen international film festivals in the USA and Serbia. It won Best Horror Film award at Great Lakes International Film Festival in Erie, PA; it was nominated for Best Short Film & Best Direction in a Short Film at Sacramento Horror Film Festival; and it won an Honorable Mention at Sunset International Film Festival in Los Angeles.
His three feature-length scripts, "The Love Hunters," "Damaged Angels," and "XY-113" have been selected as finalists in 21 international screenwriting competitions. "The Love Hunters" won Best Screenplay award at Salt Lake City Film Festival, top three selection at New Hampshire Film Festival, and top five selection at New Orleans Horror Film Festival. In addition, it was included in the top ten selection of Beverly Hills and New York Screenplay Contests, A Night of Horror Film Festival in Sydney, Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, KY, Vancouver Lift-Off Film Festival, and was also a Semifinalist of Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles.
"XY-113" accolades include: Top 50 of Launch Pad Feature Competition; Finalist of Mammoth Pictures Screenplay Competition; Semifinalist of Scriptation Showcase Feature Competition; and Quarterfinalist of Final Draft Big Break, Screen Craft, and Emerging Screenwriters Suspense Screenplay Feature Competitions. It is in Top 1% of all projects on Coverfly and was included on The Red List.
