Slowly but surely, Rambo 5 is finally – finally – beginning to fall into place.
Omega Underground has today uncovered a series of audition tapes to prove that, yes, casting is now officially underway for Sylvester Stallone’s action sequel (codenamed Rambo: Last Blood), in which his beefed-up John Rambo will be coming up against the Mexican cartel.
He won’t be doing so alone, mind you, as the newly-uncovered synopsis indicates that Rambo will be currying favor from an unnamed member of the press as he seeks to dismantle the dangerous trafficking ring responsible for kidnapping his friend’s daughter. Imagine Taken… on steroids.
Rambo teams up with a journalist to track down and rescue a group of local girls that have been kidnapped by a Mexican sex trafficking ring, after trying to settle down to a quiet peaceful life stateside at the family ranch in Arizona after spending decades abroad.

Michael Briskett (Steven Hubbell) awakens in a dark room with plastic sheets covered in blood hung behind him. It’s imagery you’ve seen countless times in horror films—butcher accoutrement readied for torture porn carnage. But writer/director Ryan Nelson (alongside Beth Levy Nelson as co-writer) is only giving us a tease of what’s to come before rewinding two days to show the unfortunate circumstances that led poor Michael to an unknown basement decorated for Christmas. First we have to meet his douchebag boss Andy Robillard (Cole Gleason) as he assigns an impossible task during the holiday season. Then it’s the office’s latest hire Cindy (Casey O’Keefe), too perky and idealistic for the soul-crushing grind cubicle life provides. The former risks ruining Michael’s yuletide buzz, the latter saving it.
Mercy Christmas initially appears as though it will be full of saccharine hokum with nice...

Visiting your better half's family during the holidays for the first time can be stressful in itself, but it becomes a literal fight for survival for poor Michael when he discovers that he's on the menu for Christmas dinner in the new holiday horror film Mercy Christmas. Directed by Ryan Nelson, Mercy Christmas will be opening this year's Shriekfest film festival in Los Angeles, and we've been provided with an exclusive poster to share with Daily Dead readers.
Check out the exclusive poster below, which reveals a gory gift under the tree (maybe skip unwrapping that one, kids), and we also have a look at a teaser video for the film as well.
Mercy Christmas will screen as the opening film for Shriekfest on Friday, October 6th, and you can keep an eye out for the film's VOD release beginning November 28th from Gravitas.

It's the heartbreak that doesn't go away for Gibbs. As the team discovers, his connection to the DEA agent seeking their help isn't the only thing that's personal for their fearless leader in this episode of NCIS, "Personal Day"; his connection to the suspect is personal as well.
Robert Knepper guest stars as Benson Long, the drug-running Moby Dick who has opened up shop near Quantico and has been DEA Agent Luis Mitchell's target for years. His best shot at catching him is by turning one of his new recruits -- a Marine, Sergeant Cole Gleason -- but he missed their meeting, and Mitch is hoping the team can help him find him. Gibbs tells him they'll see it through, whatever it takes, because he doesn't forget his debts, the first hint at there being something more to the case and the team taking it on than meets the eye.
