Oscar-winner says Hollywood agents, rather than studios, should take the most blame for ‘stunting stars’ ability to be honest’ about their personal lives
Oscar-winning screenwriter and director Dustin Lance Black has criticised actors who “lie about their sexuality” and remain in the closet.
Speaking to Attitude magazine, Black, who is engaged to the British Olympic diver Tom Daley, said: “I have no respect for someone who lies about their sexuality. At the very least say ‘no comment’, just keep your personal life personal. If you’re going to closet yourself, that sends a negative message.”

For many Brazilian soccer fans, that date went down in history as one devastating afternoon — being, of course, the day that Brazil’s men’s soccer team faced off against Germany in the FIFA World Cup semifinals, only to be defeated 7-1.
You can imagine, then, the nerves and adrenaline that were coursing through Rio’s soccer stadium on Day 15 of the Olympic games, which found Brazil and Germany facing off once again in the men’s gold-medal match.

British diver Tom Daley scored a bronze medal alongside partner Daniel Goodfellow at the men's synchronized diving 10-meter final earlier in the 2016 Rio Olympics. But when it came to Saturday's 10-meter solo diving competition? He couldn't even make the finals. The 22-year-old athlete came in last place at the semifinal event with 403.25 points. It was a surprising loss for the reigning bronze medalist in the event, who delivered a near flawless program the day earlier at Friday's preliminary event. There, he collected 571.85 total points - a score that would have earned him gold in the event at the 2012 London Games and in Rio.

Olympic diver Tom Daley is no stranger to pressure - and, luckily, neither is his fiancé, the Academy Award-winning writer Dustin Lance Black. "The one good thing is he is at the top end of his field," Daley in an Evening Standard story published Friday. "He's the best at what he does and gets it." The 22-year-old won a bronze medal last week in the 10-meter synchronized diving competition at the Rio Olympic Games. But Daley said the pursuit of excellence hasn't rocked his relationship with the 42-year-old filmmaker. Quite the opposite. "He gets the hard work, the dedication and...

Rio Olympics officials have reportedly shut down a pool after the water turned from a crystal blue to a murky green color earlier this week. The Olympic diving pool has reportedly closed after officials scrambled to solve the mystery of the green water - which they held posed no risk to athletes. "Diving pool is closed this morning. Hopefully that means we haven't been diving in anything too bad the last couple of days!" British diver Tom Daley tweeted on Friday morning. Officials have not publicly confirmed the closing and it is unclear whether the alleged closing is related to...

Two Olympic pools have turned murky green with algae because Rio organizers ran out of the correct chemicals to treat the water, world swimming officials revealed on Wednesday. Now, athletes are complaining that officials are now using so much chlorine in their attempts to fix the problem that the chemicals are burning their eyes and nostrils as they compete. The case of the green water in the Olympic diving pool grew worse on Wednesday when the green water spread to the adjacent water polo pool. "I could barely open my eyes for the final quarter, Team USA men's water polo...

Olympians, fans and officials alike were left scratching their heads when they saw the change in the water color at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center on Tuesday, but officials said in a statement that the transformation is due to a "proliferation of algae" - and poses no risk to athletes, Fox News reports. Amid all the anxiety about raw sewage in Brazil's natural bodies of water, nobody thought to worry about the water quality in Rio's Olympic pools. That issue took center stage on Tuesday when the Olympic diving pool that was crystal blue for men's events on Monday had turned unsettlingly murky and green overnight. The water quality was so bad that one diver told reporter Martyn Ziegler that she couldn't see her dive partner under water. A side-by-side comparison shared by Deadspin on Twitter shows just how much changed by the time women's events began on Tuesday. Something unfortunate has happened...

Laurence here. Sea of Trees; remember that? 2015 wasn't really Gus Van Sant's year, but it seems like he's looking for redeption by going back to his roots. Reuniting with Milk writer, professional Sam Smith-brutaliser and Tom Daley-owner Dustin Lance Black, Van Sant will direct the first episode of ABC miniseries We Will Rise, which is set to follow a diverse group of activists involved in the Lgbt+ rights movements.
Other details are scarce but judging by the characters involved, it seems set to centre around HIV/AIDS activism and a particular focus on lesbian activists, so often underrepresented in queer rights narratives, in San Francisco during the early years of the movement there. Guy Pearce has been cast as Cleve Jones, who was played by Emile Hirsch in Milk. And thus far, the cast is rounded out by Carrie Preston as Sally Miller Gearheart, Mary-Louise Parker as women's rights leader Roma Guy,...

Sam Smith used his Best Original Song Oscars speech to advocate for Lgbt equality - but his ill-informed oration rubbed Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black the wrong way. Although Sam Smith had a very triumphant night at the Oscars on Sunday in La - just listen to that haunting performance - we're not sure we can say the same about the aftermath. The singer seems to be in hot water after mistakenly thinking he's the first openly gay Oscar winner and expressing such sentiments in his acceptance speech. While Sam was attempting to make his win about the Lgbt community rather than to claim his stake in Oscars history, not everyone was happy with the way he did it. One such person was openly gay Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who nabbed the award for penning the Milk screenplay in 2009. Not only did Dustin school Sam on Oscars history, he totally made it personal by bringing his fiancé, Tom Daley, into the mix. It's not quite time for Ant & Dec to start packing up their golf clubs, but the early rumours on who might be taking part in I'm a Celebrity 2014 have already started flooding in.
It's over a month away, but here are 11 stars who have been linked to a trip Down Under to munch on kangaroo balls - lucky guys!
1. Robbie Savage
The mouthy footballer, turned mouthy pundit has insisted that he definitely isn't heading to Australia later this year. However, that is exactly what someone would say if they were taking part and wanted to keep it a secret. We're like a Digital Miss Marple.
2. Tulisa
Another celebrity who has totally denied that they are taking part, but she's been getting in the bikini practice on The X Factor and she isn't exactly busy at the moment (what is she doing?). So why wouldn't she want to spend three weeks...

Robbie Savage has ruled out suggestions that he's starring in this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
The former footballer clarified on his Twitter page at the weekend that he won't be heading to the Australian jungle any time soon, simply tweeting: "I am not going into I'm a celeb"
I am not going into I'm a celeb
— Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) September 28, 2014
Should Tulisa head to the jungle for I'm a Celebrity?
Savage is not a stranger to reality TV. He appeared on Strictly Come Dancing three years ago and finished sixth in the dancing contest.
The 2014 I'm a Celebrity line-up could, however, star singer Tulisa Contostavlos, magician Dynamo, diver Tom Daley and Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan.
Model and TV presenter Melanie Sykes was also recently rumoured to feature in this year's series.
I'm a Celebrity returns for a 14th run with hosts Ant & Dec in November.

The 44-year-old, who found fame in the '90s Boddingtons TV adverts, has been tipped to take part by the Daily Star.
Should Tulisa head to the jungle for I'm a Celebrity?
Previous rumours for the series have included more far-fetched suggestions such as Tulisa Contostavlos, magician Dynamo, Tom Daley and Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan.
Sykes's TV career has included presenting jobs on The Big Breakfast, Loose Women and chat show Today with Des and Mel.
She also presents ITV daytime series Let's Do Lunch with former I'm a Celebrity King of the Jungle Gino D'Acampo.

In just over a week, it’ll be twenty years since the first episode of Friends aired on NBC, on Thursday September 22nd 1994. While we’re all reeling from that one: Bill Clinton was President of the United States; the most successful hand drawn animated movie in history, The Lion King was released that summer; and Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Tom Daley and Dakota Fanning were all born.
Consistently one of the highest rated television shows of the time, the popularity and cultural impact of the series is astonishing, even a decade after the final episode aired. Jennifer Aniston’s hairstyle became a phenomenon all on its own, nicknamed ‘The Rachel’. The one minute version of ‘I’ll Be There For You’ recorded as the theme tune proved so popular that The Rembrandts were forced to record a longer version for release as a single, the song becoming a worldwide hit.

Tom Daley is reportedly planning to get married. The 20-year-old Olympian has been dating 40-year-old screenwriter, director and producer Dustin Lance Black for nearly a year now and is said to be keen to tie the knot soon, despite the large age gap between them. A friend of Dustin's told the Daily Star newspaper: ''They've been travelling around Europe over the past few months and their relationship has really progressed. ''There have been several in depth conversations about what they want for the future. Both Tom and Dustin want to be married one day, but aren't inclined to wait around for years. ''So now...

The Premier League is home to some of the finest ever entertainers. With their silky skills, goal-scoring pedigree and footballing prowess, England’s topflight houses some of the best players in the world. From Cesc Fabregas’s smooth passing through to Robin van Persie’s deadly eye for goal, fans have been amazed and captivated by domestic talent for years.
But there’s a darker side to the Premiership. For every wonder goal there has been a shameless dive and for every correct offside decision there has been an incorrect one. Queue the moaners and complainers of the so-called ‘beautiful game’ who persistently point the finger at each other looking for anyone but themselves to blame for their latest defeat.
For all its world class talent, the Premier League is also home to crybabies and spoilt brats. Whether its simulation, complaining to the referee, feigning serious...

Tom Daley insists his TV career hasn't distracted him from diving. He said: ''The TV shows I've done have always fitted around my training and I learned to compartmentalise different aspects of my life from a very young age. I think it's good to have other interests and I actually think they benefit my diving as I...

Talk about scary! Tom Daley and boyfriend Dustin Lance Black's plane made an emergency landing in Russia early on Monday after a part of the aircraft broke. "Just had to make an emergency landing in Irkutsk, Russia on the way back from Shanghai," the 20-year-old Olympic diver wrote. "Here's the pic of the fuel dump before landing." In the accompanying pic, which was taken mid-flight, a stream of fuel can be seen trailing from the right wing. Black added, "Emergency Landing into a Russian town. This was our view over Mongolia. #VirginAtlantic #ScaryAsHell," along with a video of the scary fuel...
