Exclusive: Billy Zane portrays Marlon Brando in the upcoming film Waltzing With Brando on set in the late 1960s and early ’70s when Brando purchased the private atoll Tetiaroa in the South Pacific.
It was a time when Brando needed to keep working to fund the environmental projects that he and architect Bernard Judge were undertaking on the island.
“When they called him about the gangster movie, he did it to fund what they were trying to create on Tetiaroa,” said Zane, referring to what would become The Godfather directed by Frances Ford Coppola.
Waltzing With Brando, directed by Bill Fishman, re-creates moments from two of Brando’s landmark pictures: The Godfather and Last Tango In Paris.

The breakout from, well, basically everything she’s done lately is set to play boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic directed by David Michôd (“Animal Kingdom”). Insert your own joke here about being a knockout. The script for the untitled project was written by Mirrah Foulkes and Michôd.
Martin was the most successful female boxer of the 1990s. She signed with Don King and is the only female boxer to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Martin became welterweight champion — but that was about the end of the good things in her life. Christy was physically abused by husband Jim Martin, who was eventually convicted of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Christy Martin’s life is documented in “Untold,” the excellent series of documentaries by Chaplain and Maclain Way. Her episode is subtitled “Deal with the Devil,...

Life’s a beach and then someone dies in Slaughter Beach, a low budget horror-comedy slasher from the crew at Clockout Films. Last week, the film’s official premiere was hosted by Delco Horror Haven, a new non-profit horror organization dedicated to supporting indie horror in the greater Philadelphia area.
Director Daniel C. Davis (Same Dance) takes a different approach with his take on the serial killer subgenre. When two underachievers are unable to land jobs due to a serial killer ruining their beach town’s tourism and economy, the duo become low rent superhero crime fighters to end the murderer’s reign of terror. Ralph (Jon McKoy) and Barry (Ethan Han) develop their new personas, Awesome Boy and Bludgeon Man respectively, to form the Defender Benders and clean up the streets in their Bender Mobile.

Paramount Global’s ouster of CEO Bob Bakish did not reassure investors that there’s a favorable exit in store for the media conglomerate.
Shares of the company were down more than 4% in trading Tuesday morning to under $12/share, after Bakish’s exit was officially announced and he was replaced by three senior execs tasked with running Paramount Global — for now, anyway.
Wall Street analysts said the dismissal of Bakish, who was said to oppose Paramount Global’s prospective merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media, along with the company’s refusal to take questions during its first-quarter 2024 earnings call Monday was evidence that an M&a deal is nearing. Paramount’s Q1 results were decent, as the company boosted Paramount+ streaming subs to more than 71 million and significantly narrowed streaming losses, while its TV group saw revenue up 1% thanks largely to the Super Bowl on CBS. Paramount Global’s beleaguered stock faltered Monday as investors fretted over the ongoing talks between controlling shareholder National Amusements Inc. and Skydance Media.
As the moon blocked out the sun across a swath of the U.S. in a total eclipse, the stock behaved accordingly, falling almost 8% on heavier-than-average trading volume to finish at $11.06. The shares, which have lost nearly half their value over the past year, retreated amid numerous reports about how a tentative deal between David Ellison’s Skydance and Shari Redstone’s National Amusements would be structured.
While Nai controls more than three-quarters of Paramount’s voting shares, it has only about 10% of the company’s equity, posing a risk of dilution for a number of other shareholders. During their 30-day exclusive negotiating window, Skydance and Nai are said to have established a framework for an all-stock transaction valued in the range of $5 billion. An initial step...

Taz Skylar, the actor who played Vinsmoke Sanji in One Piece live-action season one has recently been getting a lot of love and appreciation from One Piece and anime fans as the actor is preparing extensively for his character in the second season. He has been posting his progress on Instagram and fans are encouraging him.
Taz Skylar as Sanji
His performance in season 1 was one of the best portrayals as he fit perfectly for the character of the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates. He not only looked the part, but he even performed his stunts and prepared for it physically which was a big thing for him as he had little experience in terms of combat and stunts.
However, there was one stunt in the One Piece live-action series season 1 that Skylar considered to be the most difficult stunt and because of that, it was almost removed from the series.

All that free cash flow from a strike-plagued 2023 is burning a hole in Hollywood’s pockets. Time to get back to work.
The key players in film and television will spend a combined $132.7 billion on content in 2024, MoffettNathanson analyst Robert Fishman estimates. You know, if IATSE, the teamsters, and Hollywood Basic Crafts don’t walk out on AMPTP productions and onto the picket lines. But let’s be optimistic for a moment — much of the industry is.
Forty-five percent of below-the-line crew recently surveyed by entertainment-industry tracker ProdPro had a positive outlook for 2024 vs. 20 percent with a negative view. Businesses, like vendors, were even more optimistic: 54 percent had a positive outlook with 9 percent skewing negative.
Why the (relatively) sunny outlook ahead of another potential work stoppage? No one can afford another strike year. Ten billion dollars of production spending was put on hold due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes,...

When Roseanne premiered in 1988, the ABC series offered viewers a bold new take on the traditional family sitcom.
In the era of Full House, The Cosby Show, and Growing Pains, the Conners reminded Americans that not all households are filled with affluent parents imparting valuable life lessons to their grateful, obedient children.
The Simpsons often receives the lion's share of the credit for expanding our notion of what a sitcom family could look like.
But it's worth noting that Roseanne beat Homer and company to the punch when it came to mining comedic gold out of suburban dysfunction.
The show was a critical success right out of the gate, and over the course of its nine-season run, it developed into a reliable ratings juggernaut.
In its second season, Roseanne stunned skeptics by knocking The Cosby Show out of the top spot on the Nielsen charts.

WWE is continuing to deal with fallout from sexual-abuse allegations facing its former longtime chief Vince McMahon, with shares in parent Tko Group Holdings slipping Monday as investors weigh the potential downside.
Shares in Tko fell 4.4% today on nearly twice their normal trading volume, closing at $82.73. The stock is well below the level where it began trading last September after the merger of WWE with the UFC in a newly public entity controlled by Endeavor Group Holdings. One prominent Wall Street firm earlier Monday flagged “brand and legal risk” to Tko from the lawsuit filed against McMahon and former WWE talent chief John Laurinaitis by former employee Janel Grant, who offered graphic details in laying out accusations of sex trafficking, battery and rape.
McMahon, who in 2022 disclosed paying more than $12 million to multiple women to resolve other sexual misconduct complaints, has denied Grant’s claims.

Brat TV‘s latest acquisition will give it a foothold in the horror genre. The Gen Z-oriented media company, which produces shows like Chicken Girls and Attaway General, has acquired scare-oriented content producer Crypt TV.
News of the acquisition comes from Deadline, which did not disclose any financial details from the transaction. Brat plans to relaunch Crypt’s digital channels, which will be stocked with original, creator-driven series. Crypt’s founding team will continue to develop projects for film and TV. The spooky media company’s leaders include CEO Jack Davis, gore master Eli Roth, and film producer Darren Brandl.

There will be some noticeable changes to The Conners when it returns for its sixth season on Wednesday, February 7, as one of the show’s main cast members is exiting as a series regular. Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy were seen strolling around their neighbourhood in Florida over the weekend, marking the first time they’ve been seen in public since Michael Oher filed his high-profile lawsuit against his former adoptive parents.
In photos obtained and published by The Daily Mail, the Tuohys were spotted taking a walk in the Santa Rosa Beach area of Florida.
Leigh Anne wore a white t-shirt and a pink tennis skirt along with white sneakers, and a hot pink fanny pack while rocking white earbuds.
Meanwhile, Sean walked alongside her in dark blue shorts and a light blue t-shirt, as they strolled and chatted with an unknown third person.

This is Day 109 of the WGA strike and Day 36 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA teamed up for its first bicoastal picket in Los Angeles and New York on Friday, and Latino Hollywood showed up in droves.
At Warner Bros. in Los Angeles, more than 2,000 actors, writers and supporters hit the sidewalks as temperatures hit the high-80s. Salsa and Bachata music blasted through the speakers near Gates 2 and 3 as patient strike captains including Vida star Chelsea Rendon, kept everyone moving safely. One captain was overheard saying, “You have to keep moving, but you don’t have to stop dancing!” And so they did.

Amid the ongoing legal drama between Michael Oher and the Tuohy family, author Michael Lewis — who wrote the book which the 2009 Oscar-nominated film “The Blind Side” was adapted from — is weighing in.
Recently, Oher — the former NFL star who was the inspiration behind the book and the film — filed legal documents in Tennessee court requesting it terminate a conservatorship after alleging Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy lied about adopting him and tricked him into making them his conservators shortly after he turned 18.
Oher claims the Tuohys made millions off his name while he never received a dime, after the film — starring Sandra Bullock, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins and Kathy Bates — earned more than $300 million at the box office.
However, Lewis claims that, despite the film’s success, none of the real-life figures who inspired the film have gotten nearly any money from it in the 13 years since its release.

Fox Corp. has put increasing amounts of money behind news and sports in recent years. But that doesn’t mean the company is completely free of drama.
A landmark $787.5 million settlement made Tuesday between Fox and the voting-technology company Dominion Voting Systems does not end what is likely to be a period of tumult for the owner of Fox News Channel and the Fox broadcasting network. The payment to Dominion to keep an explosive investigation into how Fox News disseminated conspiracy theories related to the 2020 presidential election out of the public sphere does nothing to alleviate another wave of scrutiny likely to come from another, similar lawsuit.
Smartmatic, another ballot technology concern, filed a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News in February of 2021, alleging that the outlet knowingly made dozens of inaccurate and defamatory statements about the company. In February of this year, New York Supreme Court gave the case — which also names Maria Bartiromo,...

The cast of Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming 100 million epic feature “Megalopolis” is shaping up — and it includes Shia Labeouf.
Reports surfaced earlier this month indicating that the controversial actor was circling a leading role in Coppola’s passion project. Now, with production slated to begin this fall, Labeouf’s casting has been confirmed.
Also set to join the picture — which already boasts an all-star lineup including Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne — are Talia Shire, Coppola’s sister who starred in his “Godfather” films; “The French Dispatch” actor Jason Schwartzman (Shire’s son); Grace VanderWaal (“Star Girl”); Kathryn Hunter (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”); and James Remar (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”).
Coppola wrote the screenplay for the film in the 1980s, and the legendary “Godfather” and “Apocalypse Now” director is financing the dream project himself. The plot has remained largely under wraps, with...

The broadcast and cable networks have largely avoided original scripted content this summer.
Thankfully, fresh episodes of our favorite shows are in sight.
But there will be some big cast changes.
Check them out below.
Chicago P.D. - Jesse Lee Soffer
Soffer is bowing out the One Chicago series in the fall, after spending 10 seasons as a series regular.
“I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates and our incredible crew,” Soffer said in a statement.
“To create this hour drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show."
"I will always be proud of my time as Det.
