He spent much of his life attending UFO conferences and interviewing witnesses and other people involved with UFO investigations. He was a satirist and occasional hoaxer. He was the longtime chairman of the National UFO Conference.
He interviewed UFO author Major Donald E. Keyhoe and author Frank Scully. He spoke with former President Harry Truman in 1953 about the controversial 1952 "flying saucer invasion" of Washington DC.
