Sky Studios, the production arm of European pay-tv giant Sky, have added The Ink Factory’s former creative director and the producer of Netflix’s The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself as it ramps up its drama team under UK & Ireland chief Meghan Lyvers.
Katherine Butler has joined the studio as director of drama commissioning for Uk&i, while Adrian Sturges joins as executive producer. Butler effectively replaces Gabriel Silver, who departed in September, and will join in the new year. Sturges takes up his role this month.

Exclusive: Sundance Now has joined Sky’s British comedy-drama series The Lovers, bagging itself rights in the U.S. and Canada. The AMC Networks streamer has been expected to board the show for a number of weeks and Deadline can now confirm its participation.
Sundance Now will become a co-producer on the show, which comes from Pure, Life and Doctor Foster producer Drama Republic in association with Sky Studios. Roanna Benn and Rebecca de Souza are executive producers for Drama Republic, with commissioning editors Liz Lewin and Manpreet Dosanjh as executive producers for Sky Studios. Troughton is a rising star in British directing, having directed the Mary Webster episode of Amazon’s horror drama Lore and an episode of Netflix’s sci-fi epic Lost in Space. She’s also recently worked on Sky’s A Discovery of Witches and Tin Star, as well as episodes of The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Teen Wolf. London and La-based media consultancy MediaXchange has revealed details of the 2018 edition of its diversity scheme to support UK Bame (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) television workers.
Open to scriptwriters, creative and executive producers, writer-directors and broadcaster and production company executives, entrants must have substantial credits or experience at a management level.
A judging panel will select one participant who will be given the chance to attend MediaXchange’s week-long Showrunner TV Drama Exchange programme in Los Angeles, which will take place in spring 2018.
There, the participant will be able to network with Us showrunners and executives, gaining insight into how Us TV shows are developed, run and maintained.
Last year’s prize was won by Pier Wilkie [pictured], whose credits at the BBC include Don’t Take My Baby, The Song Of Lunch, Criminal Justice and Shakespeare Retold: A Midsummer Night’s Dream...
