Now this would be something to include in the Thanksgiving Day blessing. It seems last year, NBC considered making a two-hour holiday-themed Parenthood TV show reunion movie. No word if creator Jason Katims would have been involved. Reportedly, it could still happen in the future.

And so we've come to the end of "Parenthood." I published some thoughts on the series' legacy this morning, and I have a review of the series finale coming up just as soon as we put on our onion goggles... "Boy, we did good, didn't we, Camille?" -Zeek In this morning's piece, I alluded to a moment in this episode that worked me over emotionally as hard as anything a Jason Katims show ever has. Now that we're over the spoiler wall, I can say that it's the moment in the concluding montage(*) when we see Max graduate from Chambers Academy, smile wide and thrust his arms up in the air in triumph. As finale developments go — whether in the body of the episode, or in that long epilogue, which covers the next few years after Zeek's death — it wasn't particularly surprising. But Max's story had always been the "Parenthood...

Things were a little touch and go for awhile but NBC has now renewed Parenthood for a sixth season. It will be the last season and the cast and crew will have 13 episodes to say goodbye.
Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
The series has never been a ratings hit for NBC but it has remained a pretty consistent performer with a devoted fanbase. This season, the ratings took a pretty dramatic downturn, dropping 20-30% compared to the fourth season. Shows like Revolution, Growing Up Fisher, and Believe all had better ratings but they were cancelled.

Sounds like there's some trouble over at the Braverman house. Deadline reports that the show may be cancelled over salary and cost-cutting measures.
Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
Word is that NBC wants to renew the show for a final season of 13 episodes. To cut costs, the network/studio has asked the large cast to reduce their episode guarantee from 13 to nine episodes. That would mean that they'd potentially only appear in and be paid for nine installments.
Reportedly, they don't want to do that and the cast and studio are at...

Though it's been in danger of being cancelled each year, Parenthood has survived for five seasons. Will it see a sixth year or will this be the end? We'll have a better idea as the weeks progress.

Unfortunately, Parenthood has never been a hit TV show in the ratings. Fortunately, the numbers have been good enough to keep it from being cancelled each year. Will the Braverman family's luck hold out? Time will tell.
An ensemble family drama, the cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, Joy Bryant, Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, Max Burkholder, Miles Heizer, Monica Potter, Peter Krause, Sam Jaeger, Sarah Ramos, Savannah Paige Rae, and Tyree Brown.
Season four of Parenthood typically airs on Tuesdays nights at 10pm on the NBC network. They've ordered 15 episodes.
These are the TV show's ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Parenthood is going to be cancelled or renewed for season five.

Watching "Parenthood" is an extraordinarily cathartic experience. As a master of emotional manipulation, executive producer Jason Katims seems to delight in bringing an audience to tears every week, without fail. The show makes a fantastic substitute for actual therapy.
This October, though, "Parenthood" aired its Season 4 episode "The Talk," and instead of making me cry, it made me think.
(Okay, it also made me cry.)
Written by Sarah Watson, "The Talk" examined the use of the N-word, and our country's history of racism, from the perspective of a white father and his black son. This brave storyline is what makes the episode one of my favorite TV episodes of 2012.
Jabbar (Tyree Brown) was visiting his dad, Crosby (Dax Shepherd), at work when he heard a rapper use the word in a song and asked what it meant. The incident proved a catalyst for several compelling conversations between Crosby, Jabbar, and his mother,...

Although Julia and Joel have managed to get Victor to open up a bit during the fourth season of Parenthood, there's still a lot of work to do in order to make him feel accepted, comfortable, and safe in the Braverman/Graham household. Joining the baseball team might not have been the end of the world and Julia showed her love for her son by waiting for him all day in the school parking lot, but now that Julia is out of work, it's time for her to put forth even more effort in finding the things that make Victor happy.

In the '50s, NBC was the first network to ban the N-word from its radio waves. In the '70s, NBC sitcom "Sanford & Son" used the word several times, with no shortage of controversy. This week, the word was used several times on NBC's critically acclaimed drama "Parenthood."
At no point was the hateful, aggressive word used out of hate or aggression. It was, instead, used to propel a storyline that explored the meaning of the word in 2012 and the complications of explaining a devastating history to a very young child. Within the context of that story, "Parenthood" also addressed white privilege in a refreshing uninhibited way.
This is ground that hasn't been covered on broadcast TV, and a story that sticks with the viewer in the best way, making you think about history, experience, and internalized racism without a "very special episode" vibe. Any parent would do well...

My Parenthood-related predisposition towards tears will be tested like never before in tonight's all-new episode, which picks up following the shocking revelation that Kristina Braverman will battle breast cancer this season. And only one man was capable of directing such a deeply personal and hugely important episode: series star Sam Jaeger!
The only downside to Sam taking the reigns for tonight's episode is that we'll get far less of Joel & Julia's storyline -- although, as Sam told me, there are major bumps ahead in the coming weeks for the newly adoptive parents.
TheInsider.com: First of all, prepare me for the quantity of tears that will be shed in tonight's episode.
Sam Jaeger: Oh man, [the writers] have it down to science now. When I read a scene between Monica Potter and Peter Krause, I know it's always going to make fans emotional. Especially tonight's episode. Her work is unbelievable. Monica Potter is the...

Letting a new person into your life can sometimes be quite difficult. Whether it be the result of years of rejection, an insular lifestyle that focused more on your family, or an inability to relate to someone else, taking that extra step and opening up to another person can be a mountain some may never scale. In a family as large and as verbal as the Braverman family, you wouldn't necessarily think that sociability would be that big of a problem. You have to develop a voice of avoid being drowned out by the crowd, but in the fourth season of Parenthood, the Bravermans will be trying to speak up and find a friend that will stick around.

"Parenthood" left off its third season with a wedding to remember as Jasmine (Joy Bryant) and Crosby (Dax Sherpard) said their "I do's."
With Season 4 about to kick off (premieres Tuesday, September 11 at 10 p.m. Et on NBC), HuffPost TV talked to Bryant, who's also a former model, a Yale alum and a snowboard enthusiast, about what's to come for the newlyweds, what it's like doing those fight scenes, how her ovaries hurt working with her TV son Jabbar, played by Tyree Brown, and much more below.
Every year, I'm holding my breath, hoping "Parenthood" comes back.
[Laughs.] I know. So now you're excited!
Absolutely. Very excited. Were you worried the show wouldn't come back?
Yeah. If you don't get the automatic, that definitely crosses the mind. But that's kind of the chance you take with TV. I'm so happy we're back. This show could on and on and on and I'd be the happiest person.

Parenthood: Season 4 Premiere Description
On the last season finale of Parenthood, everybody seemed to get their happy ending. Marriage proposals were thrown about, dream colleges became a reality, partnerships between brothers managed to stay strong, new children were brought into the Braverman family - it was a fairly closed book-type conclusion to the story of America's favorite extended family. But on Parenthood, you can't have a little happy without a little sadness. You can't appreciate the personal work and professional triumph without having gone through the down time, the lull in momentum that could make or break any normal individual.
The fourth season premiere of the NBC dramedy, whose official description is below, looks to be taking the Braverman family down from the high they ended last season on and really delve into whether what happened to them was happy after all.

As we revealed last month, the "Parenthood" gang will be taking new family photos this season as Haddie preps to leave for college. Now, NBC has released two new gallery shots from the latest Braverman photoshoot. Of course, there's a pic of the newly married Jasmine (Joy Bryant) and Crosby (Dax Shepard), with their son Jabbar (Tyree Brown) -- it's only fitting that they follow up the wedding with an official family shot.
Does that mean that the photo of Mark (Jason Ritter) with Sarah (Lauren Graham), Amber (Mae Whitman) and Drew (Miles Heizer) could indicate a wedding in the works? Mark and Sarah hit a rocky patch in their relationship during the season finale, as she worried that she couldn't give him the life he wanted because of their age difference. We were all relieved when he refused to let the breakup happen and instead, proposed to her.

This week's episode of "Parenthood" (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Est on NBC) certainly brought a lot of tears, but the ensemble cast made up for it by releasing an adorable, smile-worthy music video set to a cover of Lfo's "Girl On TV," which Teen Vogue exclusively posted.
Musician Landon Pigg -- who is dating "Parenthood" star Mae Whitman, who plays Amber on the hour-long drama -- did a cover of the 1999 boy band hit and the Whitman's fellow cast members stepped in to make an accompanying music video.
Pairing off, the video mainly features Whitman, Miles Heizer (Amber's brother, Drew), Bonnie Bedelia (their grandmother Camille), Craig T. Nelson (her husband Zeek, the "Parenthood" patriarch), Savannah Paige Rae (Braverman cousin Sydney) and scene-stealer Tyree Brown (Jabbar, another Braverman cousin).
Long-time guest star Michael B. Jordan also lends some rapping skills to the track with his on-again-off-again on-screen girlfriend Sarah Ramos dancing in the background.

"Parenthood" fans are already familiar with singer-songwriter Landon Pigg. Not only have many of his songs served as background music to tearjerker scenes, but he also appeared as himself this season for a cameo at The Luncheonette, the recording studio owned by Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Adam (Peter Krause).
Now, as Season 3 winds down, Pigg has released this super-awesome video including the "Parenthood" cast, which you can watch below. It's a cover of Lfo's "Girl On TV."

One of the most interesting things about this season of Parenthood is that the plots that were introduced at the tail end of season two are being wrapped up fairly quickly. Instead of stretching, say, Kristina's pregnancy or Julia's search for a baby for the entire 18 episode span of the season, Parenthood has chosen to focus not on the event itself but on the aftermath of the event and what effect the event has on the family unit.
On next Tuesday's episode, it looks like we'll finally get to meet the newest Braverman and, as expected, she has to make an entrance.

The third season of Parenthood has seen the Braverman family in a bit of a tizzy. Everyone's life is in a bit of an upheaval at the moment, from Adam's new baby/business to Julia's baby desperation, Sarah's luck in love/problems with Amber, and Crosby's torch carrying for Jasmine. The last 10-15 episodes of the show, dating back to the middle of last season, have continued to pile things onto the Bravermans and it doesn't look like things will be slowing down any time soon.

Tuesday's episode of Parenthood took the baton from the solid, transitional premiere and ran with it, presenting 42 minutes of plot development that launched us into the next phase of each respective Braverman's life. Sarah and Mark are over the moon, despite some initial trepidation; Adam and Crosby are finally following their dreams and pursuing a career path that could be fulfilling as well as lucrative; and Julia is trying to find any bit of rope to hold onto in her quest to adopt a baby.
In "Step Right Up", the upcoming third episode of the 16 episode season, it seems that change will continue to be the name of the game for Team Braverman. This time, though, it's all about adjusting to the differences in your life and making due with what you've got.

On Tuesday, Parenthood returned for its 16 episode third season with an episode that encapsulated all that is good about the show. After an extended hiatus, we were thrust back into the lives of the Braverman family, where Adam is thinking about a career change, Julia wants to adopt a baby from the coffee girl at work, Crosby still isn't over Jasmine, and Sarah's trying to come to terms with turning 40, losing her child, and reuniting with a former flame. Not to mention, we've already seen arrests, a dance party, and the emergence of Drunk Haddie, and it's only episode one.
With a series of new storylines opened up in "I Don't Want to Do This Without You", where could things go for Team Braverman?

There was a resounding sigh of discontent when Crosby (Dax Shepard) slept with Gaby (Minka Kelly) on Parenthood. Ken Tucker, in fact, detailed the conflict last week before the new episode. But now that Jasmine (Joy Bryant) halted plans for reconciliation, are Jasmine and Jabbar (Tyree Brown) really going to go on without Crosby? Well, perhaps “go on” is too strong, as it implies they’re running away. But the idea of Crosby’s budding family unit breaking apart is pretty sad.

I took a sabbatical last week, mostly since there wasn’t much hitting shelves worth talking about. Now I’ve returned to get hyped over pretty awesome movies. Hit the jump to see what’s hit DVD and Blu-ray in the last two weeks:
Grab ‘Em Right Away:
Stardust (Blu-ray)
Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Written by: Jane Goldman, Matthew Vaughn & Neil Gaiman
Starring: Claire Daines, Ian McKellen, Charlie Cox, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro & Mark Strong
Why Should you buy this? It’s the best fantasy action film in the last decade. Matthew Vaughn was able to take the style of films like The Princess Bride and bring it back for children of today to enjoy. It has one of my favourite De Niro characters of the last decade as well. It’s hard for me to put into words how much this movie makes me smile every time I watch it.

Joy Bryant and Tyree Brown have received a promotion.
The Parenthood duo, who plays Crosby's girlfriend (Jasmine) and son (Jabbar), respectively, have been bumped up from recurring status to series regular.
On the first season finale of Parenthood, Dax Shepherd's character followed Jasmine and Jabbar to New York. Will the family remain there or return to California?
We'll find out when the show premieres season two on September 21.

HollywoodNews.com: ‘Parenthood’ is adding a couple more cast members as regulars for the upcoming season.
Joy Bryant and Tyree Brown, who plays her son, have been promoted on the series, reports Entertainment Weekly. Bryant’s character is the girlfriend to Dax Shepard’s character, so it looks like this family will be sticking together for now.
The TV family ended last season by heading to New York, but now that they are all regulars, who knows what adventures are in store for them.

It looks like Crosby’s Little Family Unit That Could will remain intact next season on Parenthood.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Joy Bryant and Tyree Brown — who play Dax Shepard’s onscreen girlfriend Jasmine and son Jabbar respectively — have been upgraded to full-fledged series regulars.
Bryant’s promotion actually kicked in last spring, while Brown’s deal was just finalized yesterday.
In the season 1 finale, Crosby impulsively followed Jasmine and Jabbar to New York. It’s probably safe to assume that their East Coast adventure will hit a snag and they’ll all end up moving back to the Bay Area.

In news that was-to-be-expected by fans of NBC's 'Parenthood,' both Joy Bryant and Tyree Brown have been upgraded to full series regulars for the show's upcoming second season, according to The Ausiello Files. Bryant plays Jasmine Trussell, who came into the series early on to reveal to Crosby Braverman (Dax Shepard) that they had a son, Jabbar (Brown).
Throughout the season, Crosby began to connect more and more with his son, and ultimately with Jasmine as well. According to Ausiello, Bryant was upgraded this past spring as her role became more prominent, but little Jabbar's deal was just finalized, meaning the Braverman-Trussell family unit will be complete, albeit in New York.

I love 'Parenthood.' Yes, there's a lot of people to keep track of, but it's all good. The show has some great players, but really, all I need is Peter Krause and Lauren Graham. And Dax Shepard and Jason Ritter. He reminds me of his dad, which makes me both happy and sad, but mostly happy.
The kids on this show are awesome, too -- Max Burkholder, Mae Whitman, Tyree Brown ... ok, since I'm filling in for Danny, I'll stop crushing on all the actors and get to the review. Follow me after the jump.
