Tyler Perry has wrapped production on the third movie in his four-picture deal with Amazon MGM Studios, a drama led by “P-Valley” and “Mea Culpa” star Shannon Thornton and “Run The World’s” Tosin Morohunfola.
Perry wrote, directed and produced the film, which recently wrapped filming on location in Colorado and at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta under the working title “Joy Ridge.”
“Amidst the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, Joy (Thornton) finds herself on a holiday trip with a man she envisions as ‘the one,” the film’s official logline reads. “However, her journey takes an enchanting turn as she stumbles upon someone who might just redefine her notions about the life she once knew back home.”

From the outset, the CW’s Batwoman series was one of the better offerings, thanks to a strong visual sensibility and a winning performance from Rachel Skarsten as the damaged Alice. And like every other Arrowverse show, it threatened to suffer from character bloat by the end of its second season. Thankfully, supernumerary characters and plot points were jettisoned and Javicia Leslie, as Ryan Wilder, made Batwoman her own character after Ruby Rose’s departure.
Season three, therefore, offered a lot of promise and across thirteen episodes we saw the show flirt with good, solid storytelling, too often succumbing to mind-numbing plot holes and illogic. It suffered from being hampered by the idiotic notion that Circe could waltz into the Batcave and make off with Batman’s greatest rogue weapons, all neatly fitting into a duffel bag.

The season 3 finale of Batwoman is finally here and if you think it arrived quicker this season than in prior seasons, you are correct! The series only had 13 episodes this season and while I enjoy Batwoman, the less episodes allowed the writers to focus on a stronger and more concise storyline. Let’s see if the finale can end the season on a high note!
What Happened This Week? It’s the Joker’s fault, right?
The season finale starts with a montage we have seen several times already, the Joker taking over the school bus and using the joy buzzer on a young Marquis, supposedly setting him down the path to darkness. This week’s episode is the setup for next week’s season finale, yes, it’s already season finale time! The first half of the season was extremely strong while the second half has struggled recently to remain focus, especially since they shipped Renee and Poison Ivy off to an island, as they have not gone “all in” with Marquis as the main villain. Last episode helped that situation, but can this episode fix the problem with the new Joker?
What Happened This Week? Alice is Normal Again… Right?
Alice, after using the Joker’s joy buzzer, declares herself “normal” again and the psychiatric hearing for Alice/Beth agrees, so just like that, she is a free woman. So those prior crimes are forgiven? I am not sure the justice system works like...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Batwoman Season 3 Finale, “We Having Fun Yet?”.] While the Dark Knight may be rising back in the box office this week, it was Batwoman who saved the day in March 2’s fantastically designed Season 3 finale, “We Having Fun Yet?” The hour brought the slow-burn, Joker-inspired arc to an explosive close as Ryan (Javicia Leslie) battled her own brother Marquis Jet (Nick Creegan) before he could acid-wash the entire city. The CW Before that blimp-set showdown, the Bat Team worked together like never before and we loved it. Sophie (Meagan Tandy) and Mary (Nicole Kang) regained access to the Batcave to snag a certain umbrella that could help their cause, Luke (Camrus Johnson) sacrificed the last link to his father for the greater good and Alice (Rachel Skarsten), of all people, came through with a suitably unhinged plan to slip Ryan the Joker’s joy buzzer in order to zap her...

Camrus Johnson made his “Batwoman” directing debut this week, putting him at the helm of a major moment for Wildmoore shippers. It was a moment he took just as seriously as the fans.
The end of “Broken Toys” saw Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) and Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy) finally give into their feelings for each other — or at least, Ryan finally gave in. Sophie was more than ready to be with her. In the final minutes of the episode, the two end up in bed together, and it was a moment that Johnson really wanted to get right.

This season Batwoman has harvested Batman’s Rogue Gallery to increase the threat to Gotham by having copycats of famous villains running amok in the city. With Renee following her heart more than her head, we now have two versions of Poison Ivy in Gotham, but can the original and new and improved version co-exist? Let’s find out.
What Happened This Week? Two is Not Better Than One
Batwoman usually has several storylines in each episode, but this week’s episode revolved only around Pamela’s thirst for revenge and how Team Batwoman must stop her from opening a dam to unleash a tidal wave on Gotham. Before we get to that, let’s talk about Mary and how her allegiance changes based on who is paying attention to her that week.

Batwoman delivers a more focused episode this week and while a hike in the creepy woods is not usually a good idea for a cast of characters, it did make for an enjoyable episode. Let’s get to it!
What Happened This Week? Back to Her Roots
Even though Renee Montoya brought Pamela Isley, aka the original Poison Ivy, back to life last episode, Pamela has no desire to become a “good guy” and walk off into the sunset with Renee. Pamela is back to murdering citizens of Gotham that she feels are harming the environment including murdering workers on an oil tanker as well as two fishermen that did not properly “catch and release” fish at a lake. Renee tries to talk Pamela back (again!) from the edge of being a murderer,...

After last week’s horror-themed episode with Professor Pyg, this week’s Batwoman episode dives into the transformation of Mary Hamilton into supervillain Poison Ivy and we see the return of Batwing by Batwoman’s side. Plus, we finally have Renee Montoya play an integral part in an episode as well as the most underused character in Batwoman, Sophie!
What Happened This Week? The Rise of Poison Ivy
Detective Montoya is called to Robinson Park in Gotham where a man, Chris, is entombed in a swarm of bees, honeycombs, and vines. Renee thinks the victim may be related to Poison Ivy and tells the ambulance to take him to see Mary. Is Mary on the police payroll now? Batwoman has been adding more horror-themed elements to the series this season and that continues this week as the scary-looking villain Professor Pyg is introduced. While Pyg may not be the most popular character in Batman’s Rogue Gallery, he has become more prevalent in the comic books in the last decade and usually brings the gore when he does show up. Let’s see if the character translates well to the television screen!
What Happened This Week? Renee’s Complicated Past
Batwoman did a superb job introducing us to Renee Montoya in the season premiere but up until this episode, we knew very little about the best detective in Gotham not named Batman. That changed this week as Alice and Renee team up to figure out the mystery of a bullwhip found...

Last week’s episode was named Freeze so it’s only fitting that this week’s episode of Batwoman is named Anti-Freeze as this episode breaks the formula for the season and doesn’t deliver a villain-of-the-week. Instead, we are introduced to a new, in-the-shadows villain organization that controls everything in Gotham, Mr. Freeze’s formula is still causing issues, and we learn how ruthless Jada can be to her enemies.
What Happened This Week? Rift in Team Batwoman

The CW’s Batwoman has tapped Bridget Regan to play Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, for the drama series’ upcoming third season opposite star Javicia Leslie.
Regan will recur as the former botany student of Gotham University, a passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better. Pamela’s plans shifted when she was experimented on by a colleague and injected with various plant toxins that turned her into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy. With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right … even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods. Now effectively wiped off the board for years, Batwoman and the Bat Team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance.
She joins recently announced cast members Nick Creegan and Victoria Caragena, who will appear as Marquis Jet and Renee Montoya,...

Exclusive: Another new character is heading to Gotham for the third season of Batwoman. Nick Creegan has been cast as a new series regular opposite Javicia Leslie in the CW drama series.
Creegan will play Marquis Jet. A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne’er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan (Leslie), he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham.
He joins recently announced new series regular Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya.

“Gotham” actress Victoria Cartagena has been cast as the same character, Renee Montoya, in The CW’s “Batwoman,” TheWrap has confirmed.
However, the two shows will not connect with the cast, and Cartagena will be playing a different version of the same DC Comics character.
Montoya, who will appear in the upcoming third season, is a former Gotham City police officer who left the force when she could no longer stomach the corruption and now runs the “freaks division.” The character is described as “righteous and pragmatic” in her “very personal (and mysterious) mission to help clean the streets of Gotham in the right way, by whatever means necessary.”
The character was most recently portrayed by Rosie Perez in 2020’s “Birds of Prey,” directed by Cathy Yan.

Exclusive: DC hero Renee Montoya is coming to the rescue in Gotham City. Victoria Cartagena has joined the upcoming third season of Batwoman as a new series regular, portraying Renee in the CW drama.
Cartagena’s Montoya is a former Gcpd officer who left the force when she could no longer stomach the corruption inside the department. She now runs the “freaks division,” which hasn’t seen a lot of action… until now. Righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+, she’s a woman with a very personal (and mysterious) mission to help clean the streets of Gotham in the right way, by whatever means necessary.
Cartagena previously played Renee Montoya on Fox’s Gotham, though the universes are not connected.

Batwoman’s season finale is finally here (much apology as I was on vacation last week) and months of storylines will finally be wrapped up…hopefully. The season has been tumultuous with the lead actress leaving and the writers tasked with creating a new character taking over the mantle, but the series took the challenges and will be better for it in the long run. Let’s see if they can stick the landing this season.

Black Mask has taken over all the television channels and has called on the citizens of Gotham to rise up and instead of just defunding the police, they should attack the banks, the police, and the institutions that keep the average citizens down. Much like V for Vendetta, Black Mask also...

Netflix debuted a trailer for its upcoming three-part docuseries, “Naomi Osaka,” debuting July 16.
“No one really knows all the sacrifices you make,” the titular athlete narrates in the trailer opening.
Academy Award-nominated director Garrett Bradley covers a two-year period in which Osaka defends grand slam titles, finds her voice and navigates personal challenges on a public stage. The intimate three-episode series chronicles Osaka’s hectic training and travel schedule as she finds time to be with friends and family and explore her Haitian and Japanese roots. It launches just one week before her run at the Tokyo Olympics begins.
“The series is about Naomi’s journey, within a snapshot of her life, but it’s also about life’s purpose, about personal worth, about the courage that it takes to allow one’s personal values to inform their work and vice versa,” Bradley said. “More than anything, I’d hope...

The Kane family has all but completely left Gotham. The Season 2 finale of “Batwoman” marked the official departure of not just Kate Kane, a role originated by Ruby Rose in Season 1 and taken over by Wallis Day in Season 2, but also her father Jacob Kane, played by Dougray Scott for the first two seasons of the show.
Scott did not appear in the finale itself, as his character was transferred to a prison in Metropolis in episode 16 of the season. After disbanding the Crows for their brutality and deeply ingrained corruption, Jacob Kane found himself at the mercy of Roman Sionis, also known as Black Mask (Peter Outerbridge).
Having taken control of the Gcpd, Sionis had Kane arrested for aiding and abetting his daughter, Alice (Rachel Skarsten). Since Blackgate prison was full of criminals Kane himself had locked up, he was transferred to Metropolis for safety as he awaited trial...
