Laura Ganis is an experienced and versatile producer who has produced shows for National Geographic, History, Discovery, Travel, A&E, TLC and CNN, among many others. She was second unit Production Supervisor on the Universal Pictures feature film Big Miracle, and has produced for shows such as Modern Marvels, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, ABC World News and NBC Nightly News. She produced and was senior archival researcher for two national PBS documentaries.
Laura was field producer for PBS' The Ride, traveling cross country with disadvantaged youth while they explored and filmed social justice issues, which won an award from the UN National Educational Media Network. She was production coordinator/researcher for About Face, a feature-length documentary about child abuse and mental illness which won an Award of Excellence from The Accolade Competition. She has produced documentaries that have won awards from the National Geographic All Roads Film Festival, the United Nations Association Film Festival and the American Indian Film Festival.
Laura began her career with the MTV series The Real World, depicting the groundbreaking real life character, Pedro Zamora, a young man living with AIDS. She has worked in virtually every job in production, from audio to assistant editor to PA. Most recently, Laura was Producer/Fixer on both "Nature Calls," a new National Geographic documentary series and "One Strange Rock," a Nat. Geo. documentary series produced by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. She works as a local in Alaska, Boston and NYC.
