Nottingham (England), July 22 (Ians) Premier League club Nottingham Forest on Saturday announced the signing of Nigeria defender Ola Aina on a one-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Italian side Torino.
The 26-year-old Aina, who spent nearly five years with Torino and made 102 appearances in Serie A, is Forest’s first signing of the summer.
“The Nigeria international has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal to become Forest’s first signing of the summer, with options for the future also agreed in the contract,” the club said in a statement.
Aina, who played for England in every age group from under-16 to under-20, has received 30 international caps for Nigeria since pledging allegiance to the Super Eagles in 2017.

Run Forest run… towards another Emmy. That was a terrible joke but Forest Whitaker again delivered another definitely-not-terrible performance in his guest actor role in “Andor.”
“Andor,” one of the best-reviewed shows of this year, is the Disney+ spin-off TV series of the spin-off “Star Wars” movie “Rogue One.” The series follows Diego Luna in the titular role of Cassian Andor as we find out how this scoundrel eventually joins the Rebel Alliance and becomes a crucial part of the fight against the Empire. Along the way, Cassian meets some key figures in “Star Wars” lore including Stellan Skarsgård‘s Luthen Rael and Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera.
This is just the latest appearance as Saw by Whitaker (more on that later) and the performer shines once again in a role he seems born for. Saw is part of one branch of those fighting against the Empire. He fights against the...

I’m a huge fan of the slasher genre. Out of every sub category in the wide horror genre, the slasher appeals to me the most. There’s just something thrilling about watching characters attempt to survive a monster in a mask that wants to butcher them to bits. Despite it being one of the most successful subgenres of film, it hasn’t really cracked the video game space all that much. Sure we’ve had gems like Friday the 13th, and some inversions of the genre like Until Dawn. But for the most part, if you want to live out the fantasy of being in a slasher film, the pickings are slim.
In comes Killer Frequency to change all of that; and it’s an absolute blast. If I had to pin it down, it feels like playing a video game version of the opening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2...

Jean Smart is “doing fantastic” following the news that she is recovering from a heart procedure, according to her Hacks co-stars who attended Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.
The 71-year-old actress and back-to-back SAG Awards winner in the outstanding female actor in a comedy series was absent from the ceremony at Fairmont Century Plaza, but her co-stars rallied around her talent as well as her ongoing recovery throughout the night.
Co-star Christopher McDonald took the stage to accept Smart’s honor, reading from a prepared acceptance speech that focused more on the work of the Hacks ensemble and its guest stars than the actress herself. Among those who received special shoutouts were Susie Essman, Martha Kelly and Polly Draper, along with Smart’s two sons, Conner and Forest.
“I’m so sorry I can’t be with you tonight,” McDonald said on Smart’s behalf. “I...

Are there any sweeter words in the age of too much TV than “limited series?” It’s a category that guarantees minimal time commitment with maximum return — be it weekly watercooler gossip or a delicious binge. The limited series is the perfect hybrid between a movie and a longer-running TV series, with intricate stories, complex characters, and just the right amount of moving parts. The fact that a series will not return makes the narrative precious and the ending paramount, even if that means leaving things deliberately open-ended. This one-off nature makes them perfect for literary adaptations, epic events, and period pieces.
What doesn’t qualify? Those that started as limited series but then blew up enough to get a second season. We’ve also limited (ha!) ourselves to scripted for now, since Ken Burns will probably deserve his own ranking down the line, once he slows down and we...
