Apple has reportedly fired the manager of its mapping team Richard Williamson. Eddy Cue, senior vice president of internet software and services, is soliciting advice from mapping technology experts such as TomTom to improve the Apple Maps product, according to Bloomberg. Prior to iOS 6, Apple used a Google-powered maps solution on its devices. This was dropped on September 19 and customers immediately voiced concerns over the accuracy of Apple's proprietary maps offering. This widespread reaction led to CEO Tim Cook offering a rare apology for any frustration caused.
