The Visual Effects Society has announced the nominations for the 13th Annual Ves awards "the prestigious yearly celebration that recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials and video games and the VFX supervisors, VFX producers and hands-on-the-keys artists who bring this work to life."
Ves members selected the nominees and Laika's "The Boxtrolls," Disney's "Big Hero 6," and Fox's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" topped the nominations receiving 5 nods each.

The local sheriff investigates and faces a Seminole legend come to life: Man-Thing, a shambling swamp-monster whose touch burns those who feel fear. Man-thing was directed by Brett Leonard ("The Lawnmower Man"), from a screenplay written by Hans Rodionoff ("Lost Boys: The Tribe"). It's based on Marvel Comics creature created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway. The cast included: Matthew Le Nevez as Sheriff Kyle Williams, Rachael Taylor as Teri Elizabeth Richards, Jack Thompson as Frederic Schist, Rawiri Paratene as Pete Horn, Alex O'Loughlin as Deputy Eric Fraser, Steve Bastoni as Rene Laroque, Robert Mammone as Mike Ploog, Pat Thompson as Jake Schist and Conan Stevens as Man-Thing. The film was released as a "Sci-Fi Original" on the Sci Fi Channel in 2005.

Michael Weston, Laurie Williams & Laura Vandervoort Join List of ‘White Collar’ Season 4 Guest Stars
There are lots of White Collar news today, but beware of some spoilers as you read the following guest-castings.
Neal Caffrey is not the only master criminal to keep Peter Burke worrying at night. The Hollywood Reporter announced Tuesday afternoon that Michael Weston (House) will play David Cook, another over-confident crook who has eluded Peter’s since he became an FBI Agent.
Weston will guest star in the episode titled, “Diminishing Returns” which could be the Season 4 premiere or a later episode. If it is the premiere, that would make sense since Mekhi Phifer as Agent Kyle Williams will be the man sent out to retrieve Neal and Mozzie in some remote island in the Caribbean, not Peter. Joining Weston is Laurie Williams (Blue Bloods) as Rina Oaks, a gem trader and Cook’s fence for stolen goods.
