Apple is breaking up The Afterparty.
The tech giant’s Apple TV+ streaming service has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons. The news comes a month and change after the genre-hopping comedic murder mystery finished its second season.
Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, will look to find another home for The Afterparty. The show tells a self-contained story with each season.
Created by Chris Miller, who executive produces along with his producing partner Phil Lord, The Afterparty took on a different genre in each episode, depending on which character’s point of view was front and center. Zoë Chao, Sam Richardson and Tiffany Haddish reprised their season one roles in the second installment, which was set at a wedding that’s ruined when the groom turns up dead. The season two cast also features John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall,...

When it doubt, throw a party!
There are a few reasons why Blockbuster Season 1 Episode 4 is the strongest outing from the series so far.
It's largely because we are really starting to get a sense of these characters, who they are, and why we should like (or dislike) them.
But it's not just that -- the scope of the little world in which Blockbuster takes place is becoming more fully realized.
The background often provides blink-and-you'll-miss-it throwaway jokes that enhance the experience.
We learned more about Connie's past, including her incarcerated sister. Connie is fiercely competitive and more than a little ruthless. Olga Merediz is a delight, and it's fun to see this side come out of her.
This "everyone's mom"-type character makes delicious soup but also has a Svengali side to her.
Connie: Act like one of your favorite bosses from a movie
Timmy: Like Boss Baby of Devil’s Advocate?...

Naming an episode of a comedy TV show “The Tragedy” is a big risk in itself. Doing it without serving that episode with a massive dose of sarcasm is another challenge entirely. Then again, after two seasons of their Comedy Central show, the team behind “Corporate” has had plenty of practice.
This week’s episode is a succinct expression of something that many Americans face on a daily basis: With so much trauma happening on a worldwide scale, how do you respond?
“If you are on the internet or alive right now, it’s all just constant tragedies and it’s a nightmare. This has been going on most likely since the dawn of civilization, but now you’re just more aware of it than ever,” series writer and co-star Jake Weisman said in a recent interview with IndieWire.
On tonight's new episode, something terrible happens, which means it's time to post.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...
