Kristen Stewart’s domination of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival continued at the Variety Sundance Cover Party presented by United Airlines, where Stewart was honored for her starring roles in two big festival premieres: “Love Me,” a post-apocalyptic romance film in which she stars opposite Steven Yeun, and “Loves Lies Bleeding,” an A24-backed crime thriller in which she played a reclusive gym manager who falls for a local bodybuilder.
“It’s hard to get here,” Stewart told Variety at the party about returning to Sundance, where she has premiered more than a dozen movies throughout her career. “Not because it’s an established and elite film festival, but because it supports marginalized voices. Voices that aren’t heard anywhere else. It’s a solidifying, communal feeling and it only makes you stronger to go back into a world of a ‘no’ and say, ‘I know that there’s a place for me.

Heading into the festival, the Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun Sundance movie Love Me was one of this year’s most head-scratching titles.
The synopsis for the film reads: “A post-apocalyptic romance in which a buoy and a satellite meet online and fall in love after the end of human civilization.” This left many Sundance-bound industry attendees with a lot of questions and piqued interests. The title, which is competing in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section, is one of the most anticipated of the fest.
At the Friday premiere of the film, everyone finally got some clarity.
Love Me opens after humanity has died off, with the New York City skyline shown as being underwater. Yeun voices a satellite that was sent into space to hold the history of humans on Earth on the chance that some other lifeforms discover the planet. Stewart is a technologically advanced buoy that...

Last month we took a trip to Nottingham, England's cinephile haven Broadway Cinema for four days of eclectic genre programming at the 2013 Mayhem Horror Film Festival. Check in right here for a look at some of the sights and reviews from the East Midlands' premier horror fest.
The festival kicked off on Thursday 31st October with a special screening of director Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now and Puffball, taking place in the special environs of St. Mary's Church with Roeg himself in attendance to introduce and officially open this year's event.
Topping off the evening was Vincenzo Natali's underwhelming Haunter (review here).
While we weren't around for that particular evening's events, the following three days saw a schedule packed to the gills with guests, impromptu trivia-based giveaways, and screenings unfolding before and behind the Broadway's gorgeous red curtains, including:

Why Watch? Today is the End. Rather, This Is the End opens today. It seems like an appropriate time to highlight another comic take on the apocalypse, and one with an equally blunt title. Andrew Zuchero‘s The Apocalypse played both Sundance and South by Southwest earlier this year, gleefully terrorizing festival audiences. Now we get to watch it ourselves via YouTube. The calamity that strikes the earth in The Apocalypse isn’t particularly complex, nor does it need to be. Five minutes is just about enough time to establish the kind of disaster (heads exploding) and look at its immediate aftermath. The trick, which I’m hardly going to reveal before you’ve watched the short, is reminiscent of the bonkers Canadian zombie flick, Pontypool. There’s no need for explanations, and there’s even less need for multiple locations. A few friends are hanging out in an apartment, and...

The Bradford International Film Festival is typically an underground-friendly fest. This year appears to be no exception with two very special experimental film retrospectives, as well as a few modern underground-type flicks.
The 19th annual Biff will roll on April 11-21 at several locations around Bradford and Leeds in England, including the National Media Museum, Hebden Bridge Picture House, Hyde Park Picture House and other venues.
Biff is hosting a tribute to Stan Brakhage this year by screening the prolific filmmaker’s magnum opus, Dog Star Man, as well as a selection of his short films, from 1963′s legendary Mothlight to 1994′s Black Ice. There’s also going to be an epic-sized tribute/retrospective of experimental films from Austria, a country with a proud avant-garde filmmaking tradition that’s typically overlooked.

Why He's On Our Radar: Few shorts at Sundance shocked and elicited as many laughs as Andrew Zuchero's end of days splatterfest "The Apocalypse." The short (which you can view below) premiered in Park City as part of the Sundance Digital Screening Room and was featured on their YouTube channel, where it has over 650,000 views and rising. Zuchero will next be taking it to SXSW, where it's sure to go over extremely well in the rowdy Midnighters section. More About Him: Zuchero, a New York University grad, has been with Greencard Pictures, the commercial and film production responsible for making "The Apocalypse" a reality, since 2006. Since joining the company, he's done promos for the likes of Bud, Sony and Intel (all of which you can view here). What's Next: "Well right now I’m just working with some of the producers," Zuchero told Indiewire, from the vast Greencard Pictures office space in lower Manhattan.

Here's a dark comedy short film from Sundance 2013 called The Apocalypse. It's awesomely entertaining and unexpected! The movie was written and directed by Andrew Zuchero, and the story centers on four uninspired friends who try to come up with a terrific idea for how to spend their Saturday afternoon. Coming up with ideas isn't the best idea though, because it brings on the end of the world. Heads start to explode! It's amazingly hilarious, and you're going to love it! Enjoy the show!

The Apocalypse
Written and Directed by Andrew Zuchero
Many filmmakers attempt to do too much with a low-budget, short film. Worse yet, some will often make their short too long. While short films in theory are far more easy to produce than feature films, they do present an artist with one major roadblock: Trying to cram a clever story into so little time isn’t an easy task. While many shorts use the same structure and story telling techniques as longer films, the film’s turning points come at a much quicker pace. Therefore, a five minute film, should have less than a minute worth of exposition. The most successful shorts are those that concentrate on a simple idea. In The Apocalypse, written and directed by Andrew Zuchero, an idea can be deadly, and the beauty of the film is how Zuchero spins a very simple idea into something far more twisted.
