Taika Waititi left a ton of surprises in “Thor: Love and Thunder” on the cutting room floor, including buzzy appearances by Lena Headey, Jeff Goldblum and Peter Dinklage. The latter two shot scenes in the film as their pre-existing Marvel characters the Grandmaster and Eitri, respectively, while “Game of Thrones” favorite Headey was set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. All of their scenes got deleted.
“I wrote the thing so when you cut anything it’s a little bit of a challenge to yourself because you’re like, ‘Am I not that good? Should I have seen this coming?’ But every film I’ve done I’ve probably cut the same amount out,” Waititi recently told Insider. “When you go into the edit you just never know. A scene on its own could be the most funniest thing or intriguing thing, but sometimes those things if you keep...

None of the scenes that Lena Headey filmed for “Thor: Love and Thunder” made the final cut, but that isn’t stopping former representatives of the “Game of Thrones” star from suing her.
Headey’s former agency, Troika, has filed a lawsuit alleging that the actress owes 1.5 million in unpaid commissions (via Variety), including 500,000 from her “Thor: Love and Thunder” salary. The agency is also seeking a 300,000 commission from the film “9 Bullets” and 650,000 for the scrapped Showtime series “Rita.” Headey had signed on to play the titular character on the show, but Showtime decided not to move forward with it after seeing the pilot.
According to court documents, Headey signed with Troika in 2005, when her longtime agent Michael Duff left his position at Lou Carl Associates to join the agency. Troika merged with James Grant Group in 2017, before being acquired by a private equity firm and rebranded as Ymu...

“Game of Thrones” star Lena Headey is being sued for 1.5 million by her former U.K. agency Troika over unpaid commission fees relating to a number of projects including the upcoming film “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
Troika, which re-branded as Ymu in 2020, claims Headey owes the agency at least 500,000 — equivalent to 7 of her fee — for her earnings on the Marvel movie.
Variety can confirm that Headey does not appear in the final cut of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman. The film is set for release next week.
Reps for Headey and Marvel did not reply to Variety’s requests for comment by publication time.
According to court documents, Headey joined Troika in 2005 after following her personal rep, Michael Duff, there from his previous agency Lou Carl Associates.
Duff co-founded Troika, which in 2017 merged with the James Grant Group. In 2018 the agency was acquired by...

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has acquired Shelly, an action-comedy package that has Jumanji: The Next Level‘s Awkwafina and Karen Gillan attached to reteam, and Jude Weng to direct. The action comedy script is by Michael Doneger and Liz Storm and the film will be produced by Ian Bryce Productions.
Deadline wrote about the package in late June, when it was first shopped. Doneger wrote the story for a high concept pic that combines high school nostalgia with action and laughs. The story takes place a decade after an embarrassing prom prank ran Shelly Wheeler (Awkwafina) out of town and so hardened her heart that she became an ice-cold hit-woman. Revenge threatens to be sweet when she learns her next target is her former high school tormentor, Dianna Park (Gillan). Exclusive: Kat Gosling, the highly respected UK agent whose client list includes Emma star Anya Taylor-Joy, 1917 actor Dean-Charles Chapman, and Devs actress Sonoya Mizuno, is leaving Troika after 10 years at the agency for a new home at United Agents, I can reveal.
Gosling is taking her entire client list with her. The lengthy roster also includes Game Of Thrones alum Carice van Houten, Westworld’s Rodrigo Santoro, Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole, Downton Abbey alum Allen Leech, and Jack Ryan actor Jordi Mollà.
The move is a coup for United, which is also bringing Gosling’s associate Tom Holcroft into the fold. The pair began their new roles on Monday (July 13).
It’s also a blow for Troika, which is going through a transition period after the departure of co-founders Conor McCaughan and Michael Duff was announced in May. Talent including Jamie Dornan and Michaela Coel are understood to have...

Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Ken Leung have boarded the cast of M. Night Shyamalan’s top-secret movie.
They join previously announced stars Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff and Vicky Krieps.
Shyamalan will write, direct and produce the untitled film, which will be released by Universal Pictures. Like most Shyamalan movies, plot details are shrouded in secrecy and can become interconnected to his other films.
Representatives for Universal and Shyamalan had no comment.
The film currently doesn’t have a release date as Universal continues to figure out its calendar following theater closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s also unclear when production will begin, given stay-at-home measures, but the plan is to start rolling cameras by the end of the year.
Shyamalan independently financed “Glass,” “Split” and “The Visit” with a combined production budget of $35 million. Those pics went on to cumulatively gross more than $600 million worldwide.

Exclusive: Blue chip UK talent agency Troika, which reps 300+ clients, is going through a significant transition following the announced departure of co-founders Conor McCaughan and Michael Duff after 15 years at the helm. In his first interview in the role, we spoke to new Executive Chairman Ben Hall about the challenges and opportunities ahead.
It’s a delicate moment for the agency, whose starry client roster has included talent such as Michael Fassbender, Ruth Wilson, Lena Headey, Daniel Kaluuya, Karen Gillan, Anya Taylor-Joy, Michaela Coel, Joe Cole, Peter Capaldi and Matt Smith.
Until recently, one of Troika’s most prized assets was Fifty Shades and The Fall star Jamie Dornan but we understand from multiple sources that the actor is no longer with the agency. Fassbender, it is widely assumed, will ultimately follow his long-time agent McCaughan, with whom he also has production company Dmc Film.

Troika co-founders Conor McCaughan and Michael Duff have left the esteemed British agency they built up over 15 years into one of the U.K.’s top talent firms.
Variety has confirmed McCaughan and Duff have departed the business, which they co-founded in 2005 with Melanie Rockcliffe and grew into one of the country’s leading management firms for drama and comedy talent. It’s believed the duo’s contracts will officially conclude at the end of the year, and it’s still unclear what their next steps will be.
Collectively, McCaughan and Duff’s client rosters represent some of the agency’s — and indeed the British industry’s — top names, including Jamie Dornan, Michael Fassbender, Paddy Considine, Ruth Wilson, Babou Ceesay, Peter Capaldi, Holliday Grainger, Michaela Coel, Jenna Coleman, Juno Temple, Matt Smith, Joe Dempsie, Keeley Hawes, Lena Headey and Daisy Haggard.

Exclusive: Sam Mendes is close to landing his two leads for 1917, the Wwi drama that he is mounting with Amblin Partners to shoot next April as his first film since the 2015 James Bond film Spectre. George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman are in early negotiations to play the two leads in a drama that follows two young soldiers as they trek across dangerous terrain. Production will start in April for late 2019 release through Universal, which has its output deal with Amblin.
On these shores, MacKay is perhaps best known for his role in Captain Fantastic, and Chapman most certainly for last being seen taking a leap from a high castle window as Tommen Baratheon, the young king who ended his life in Game Of Thrones after his mother, Cersei, blew up half of King’s Landing in a blaze that immolated his wife and an entire religious cult.

Breaking: Makeready has won an auction to finance Queen & Slim, with Oscar-nominated Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya starring and Melina Matsoukas making her feature directing debut. Emmy-winning scribe Lena Waithe wrote the script based on an original idea and treatment by A Million Little Pieces author James Frey. The film will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures, with eOne handling theatrical distribution in some offshore territories including UK and Canada. The film has been set to be released in North America November 27, 2019, making this the first green lit picture for Brad Weston’s Makeready that falls under its Universal and eOne deal. Production begins in January.
The filmmakers are now looking for a fresh face to play Queen, and Stranger Things‘ Carmen Cuba has been tasked with casting that role. Pic is a complex film with many layers, exploring America’s social and political climate through the lens of a genre-defying love story.
