For a deep dive into what it took to bring Assassinaut […]

If you haven’t heard me drone on and on about directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s “The Taint,” then you haven’t spent a lot of time ready my silly words on the internet. I adore the movie with a weird passion that probably makes everyone involved with the flick a little uncomfortable. Which is okay, of course, since I tend to make people uncomfortable on a regular basis. After working on the special effects for Lloyd Kaufman’s “Return to Nuke Em High,” writer/director Drew Bolduc put together a potentially nifty flick called “Science Team.” I’ve waited patiently for this sucker to arrive, and it appears that day is getting closer by the second. In fact, we now have an official trailer to feast our eyes upon. Before we get to that, let’s explore the official synopsis: Chip returns home to find his mother...

While not a universally loved horror flick, The Taint got a nice little push from our own Rob Hunter last month when it hit DVD. Now I’d like to extend the support for one of its directors, Drew Bolduc. I don’t know him, I haven’t seen any of his films, but something tells me he could very well be the next guy associated with Troma Entertainment to wind up a big deal. Just don’t be surprised if he directs Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or anything. He’s already working with aliens in his next feature, Science Team, which is currently raising money by crowdfunding via Indiegogo. And the promo video Bolduc sent us this morning makes me think its not just “a bastard child of science fiction and horror” but also the illegitimate offspring of James Gunn and Wes Anderson. But I don’t have any idea what the end result will be...

Full disclosure: I am a ridiculously huge fan of Drew Bolduc’s “The Taint.” The film scarred my soul in ways few films have, and I feel that I’m an altogether better person for having viewed it. Even if you hate the movie with every fiber of your well-adjusted being, you can’t say it didn’t have some sort of effect on you. Curious parties are invited to investigate my review. To say that I’m excited for “Science Team” is an understatement. The film has claimed the top spot of my must-see list, surpassing just about every other motion picture on the planet. The “Science Team” gang has put together a nifty trailer for their new crowdfunding campaign. It’s weird, it’s engaging, and it asks you bluntly for your money. In short, it does exactly what an Indiegogo trailer is supposed to do. Now cough up the money.

I’m not joking when I say that directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s deliriously deranged 2010 horror masterpiece “The Taint” is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. The film blew mytiny mind in much the same way “Street Trash” did back in the 80′s. I love it to death — Love It — and I’m always quick to recommend it to those with, shall we say, questionable taste in cinema. Naturally, I’m quite excited to announce that, for one week only, “The Taint” is available to watch for free. That’s a gift, my friends, selfless and pure. Unfamiliar with “The Taint”? Let’s fix that problem: The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. Troma Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to the postmodern horror movie "The Taint," from directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson. Here's the plot per Troma: The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists. When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality, it is up to Phil OʼGinny and his female friend, Misandra, to combat the horrible evil that is The Taint. The company plans to begin screening it in select theaters this spring. If this Nsfw trailer for the film is anything to go by, "The Taint" is out to shock. Lloyd Kaufman and the gang over at Troma have announced that they have picked up the world wide rights for Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s sleaze-fest The Taint. President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger Lloyd Kaufman describes The Taint as:
I cannot exactly describe what happened in The Taint because it would not be appropriate for a normal publication or television review. However, I can tell you that it will be a long time before I even consider placing a penis in my mouth again.
I’ve seen The Taint, and believe me it’s not for the faint of heart – it’s misogynistic, bizarre, gory and it’s full of men waving their flaccid penises around! Check out our Nsfw review here, and the official synopsis is below:

Troma Entertainment has acquired the worldwide rights for Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson's The Taint.
Like all Troma films, The Taint touches on searing sociopolitical themes, in this case misogyny, which is ingrained in American society. The evils of our Viagra and pharmaceutical fueled male population are lambasted and satirized in the film.
The plot? The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists. When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality, it is up to Phil OʼGinny and his female friend, Misandra, to combat the horrible evil that is The Taint.

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

The B-Movie Underground and Trash Film Festival brings their unique collection of international sleaze on Sept. 7-11 in the city of Breda in the Netherlands. Violence, gore, general grossness and perversion are, once again, near and dear to the heart of this fun fest.
From the U.S., the But Fest is screening a few modern underground classics while also celebrating a few of the old masters. Included in the lineup are Usama Alshaibi‘s mind-blowing Muslim sex worker flick Profane, Zach Clark‘s wild weekend of debauchery Vacation! and Dan Nelson & Drew Bolduc‘s over-the-top The Taint.
Plus, But is honoring Cinema of Transgression mastermind Nick Zedd with several screenings of his classic works, such as Thrust in Me, Police State and Whoregasm, as well as his recent public access TV series Electra Elf.

Warning: Nsfw! Embedded above is the official — and officially “dirty” — bumper trailer for the Atlanta Underground Film Festival. Men, take heed. This could happen to you. And it’s worse than having your girlfriend/wife walk in on you during a very private moment between you and the Internet.
The trailer was directed by Greg Hanson, who also has a film in the festival proper: The nunsploitation must-see Thy Kill Be Done, which Hanson co-directed with Casey Regan. Thy Kill Be Done was also reviewed last year on Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film.
The Atlanta Underground Film Festival takes place later this month on Sep. 22-25 at the Goat Farm Arts Center. In addition to Thy Kill Be Done, the fest is screening films such as Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s outrageous The Taint, Damon Russell’s Snow on tha Bluff, Jack Truman’s 7 Stories From an...

We recently told you about the upcoming PollyGrind Film Festival, one of the premiere grindhouse film festivals, that's set to celebrate all-things B-Movie style in Las Vegas this October. The madman behind the festival, Chad Clinton Freeman, announced today this year's PollyGrind line-up and it looks pretty sweet!
And not only is PollyGrind celebrating films, the fest is also celebrating several indie music acts slated to perform during the fest, a Zombiepalooza celebration and a whole lot more! Read on for all the details for the Second Annual PollyGrind Film Festival!
From the Press Release:
It's been called "the key festival for indie cult filmmakers to land distribution deals." Its founder and programmer has been called the "new champion of unabashed B-movie sleaze." Those praises might seem a bit outlandish, but with the official announcement of the PollyGrind Film Festival's schedule, it's easy to see where they come from.

The Atlanta Underground Film Festival will roll out their 8th annual edition at the Goat Farm Arts Center on Sep. 22-25, taking over two screening rooms with a lineup of feature films, shorts and documentaries.
On the features front, Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s hilariously offensive The Taint — about a world taken over by foaming-at-the-mouth misogynists — continues with its international underground takeover with a stop at Auff for an appropriately late-night screening on the 24th. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film’s review here.
In the short films lineups, be on the lookout for the annual Robot Hand infiltration with Brian Lonano‘s Martian Precursor and Kevin Lonano’s Carny lurking in the Horror Shorts collection on the 23rd. Plus, scattered throughout the fest are Greg Hanson and Casey Regan‘s immensely fun Thy Kill Be Done, Dean Packis‘ grotesque and funny animation Premie Petey in Extreme Makeovary,...

The Taint
Stars: Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw | Written and Directed by Drew Bolduc, Dan Nelson
When I was a teenager I was often told about a movie called Bad Taste. It featured people eating puke, men falling off cliffs and their brains hanging out of their heads and then just getting up and putting them back in again. As a horror fan I knew this was a movie I must see and when I finally did it left an impression on me that made me love the small low budget gore movies of that kind so when a movie comes a long that tops that level of gore it really hits the right spot for me.
With The Taint you know straight from the moment you see the DVD title screen that something is crazy about this movie. Then you start the movie and to your surprise the...

The 4th annual Minneapolis Underground Film Festival, which is now open for submissions, is mixing things up a little bit this year. The fest has appointed a new Director, Mark Hanson, to inject some new blood into the proceedings. And if there’s something Muff usually likes, it’s a little blood with their cinema.
It’s not known yet what new visions Hanson will bring to the table, but Muff has previously been known to enjoy the exploitation side of underground filmmaking, as one can tell from last year’s lineup, which included gruesome and spooky fare such as Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s over-the-top offensive The Taint.
The fest also screened the female vampire film Camilla Hyde, directed by Dave de Vries; John Ervin’s Vixen Highway, Carlos Atanes‘ Maximum Shame and Bill Cooper’s Hunting Buddies. But, they also screened lighter documentaries such as Michael Peterson...

There is nothing on this planet that can save you from the awe and power of the nasty, and we mean nasty, indie flick The Taint. It's riddled with moments that will offend just about anyone (except you of course), but you don't have to take our word for it! Watch it yourself. Right Now - and for the rest of June!
Directed by filmmaking duo Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson, The Taint stars Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw, and Kenneth Hall. There's so much we could say right now, but holy shit, does what you're about to see speak for itself.
According to the official website for The Taint, the flick is "a low-budget independent film made in Richmond, Virginia with the help of many incredibly talented local artists and Vcu students. It is a testament to guerilla style filmmaking and a great example of what can be...

We’re in awe of any good movie. Even more so when it’s a stunning debut, which leads us to this list. The rules are simple: Killer Film picks ten filmmakers whose stunning feature film/short film debuts have us clamoring for their follow-ups. So in order for them to have been qualified and listed, only one feature length film or short films had to be in their filmographies.
With the rules in place, Killer Film hopes that you’ll be just as excited for their future films, so let’s see who we are behind 100% in Killer Film’s Directing Newcomers to Watch!
Donny Broussard’s Picks:
- Andres and Diego Meza-Valdes (Play Dead)

Poster for the 12th Annual Tromadance Film Festival
Lloyd Kaufman and his Troma troupe have just unveiled their poster for the TromaDance Film Festival’s 12th outing (April 22-23, 2011 in Asbury Park, New Jersey). While newsworthy only to a particular demographic, Troma-heads are doing everything they can to reach out to new fans of the form by keeping the film festival free.
Joshua Grannell’s “All About Evil” is screening, as are Drew Bolduc’s “The Taint” and Miguel Angel Vivas’ “Kidnapped.” The festival also features a panel with old-school animation guru Bill Plympton, scream queen Debbie Rochon, the managing editor of Fangoria magazine, and the New York Film Commissioner.
Entrance to the screenings is free, filmmakers are not charged submission fees for having their films considered and there are no VIP reservations. If that weren’t reason enough to turn up to this schlock fest in New Jersey then...

On April 22-23, Asbury Park, NJ will once again be taken over by the most toxic film festival in the world! (That’s a good thing.) The 12th annual Tromadance is two days and nights filled with depraved cinematic abuses that will leave you a shattered, emotional wreck. (That’s a good thing, too.)
This year, the fest will screen three feature films, a buttload of shorts, plus two mini-retrospectives.
The features are: 1. Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s gonzo The Taint, a social satire filled with so much gore and sexual degeneracy you might want to wear a raincoat to the screening; 2. Joshua Grannell‘s horror spoof All About Evil, starring Natasha Lyonne and Cassandra Peterson about a psychotic film auteur who kills people on camera; 3. Miguel Angel Vivas’ brutal assault film Kidnapped.
Some of the short film highlights include Victoria Cook‘s triumphant return to Tromadance with Devil...

You might remember back on Christmas morning, Andy told us about a vulgar slice of comedic indie horror called The Taint. You can watch the trailer for this glorious film in that article. Now keep in mind, The Taint centers on over-the-top, silly, gross, and outrageous humor. When you have a running shtick that includes the protagonist consistently putting on a different pair of sunglasses in almost every scene, you can’t help but laugh at how much fun these filmmakers are having. Now you can check out The Taint on DVD, digital download, and VHS !!! Yes, a film that clearly is inspired by while also poking fun at the gory and sometimes non-sensical films of the 80′s VHS era. Find out more info about this film beyond the break.

The Film:
Hunter S. Thompson would have easily described The Taint as “gonzo”, and there isn’t really any other word to accurately describe this genre-smashing indie. Imagine a weird lovechild of Cabin Fever, Cannibal! The Musical, America Pie, and that’s The Taint. It’s silly and irrelevant, yet within its scant running time (68 minutes), it’s far smarter than Eli Roth could ever be with its violence and sex, which capitalizes off of a satirical look at misogyny. Truly, The Taint will be a dorm room cult classic.
Using its title as a double entendre, The Taint is far smarter than its Evil Dead II horror-comedy trappings initially lead on. With the water tainted with a chemical that was suppose to be used for penis growth, writer/director Drew Bolduc slam dunks interesting social commentary of Viagra and Women Rights, with wrapping it up in cum shots and masturbatory fantasies.
