He attended Loyola University in New Orleans, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration and a law degree. He served in the Army before establishing a law practice in 1957.
He served as a judge on the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeal until his retirement in 2000.
Served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corp from 1954 to 1957.
