Long-time best mates and long-term podcasters, comedian and broadcaster Wil Anderson and actor and writer Charlie Clausen, are bringing their hilarious and wildly popular podcasts, Tofop and Fofop, along with Anderson’s Wilosophy podcast to LiSTNR.
Anderson and Clausen have collaborated on Tofop (aka Thirty Odd Feet Of Podcast) since 2010 and are now bringing their more than 400-episode library to LiSTNR. On Tofop, the pair discuss popular culture, film, sport, personal stories, and usually intense discussions on a range of hypothetical situations.
The aptly named Fofop (or faux Tofop) sees the pair take Tofop to an alternative universe, interviewing a range of guests over another 400-plus episodes.
Although on production hiatus, Anderson will also bring his podcast Wilosophy, where he asks “smart people stupid questions and tries to find out the meaning of life”, to LiSTNR. Launched in 2014 and also standing the test of time, recent episodes have included guests Josh Szeps,...

Murray questions why drama is more expensive to produce than comedy, observing: “I don’t know that the additional money that goes into drama is necessarily visible on screen to the audience.
“The costs of drama are going up and we need to be making it cheaper. There are work practices which make it impossible to make drama at the price it should be made at. We should be employing people differently or with more flexibility,...

Aacta and Seven are developing a new format for the show, which ought to be an improvement on the past three awards shown on Network Ten.
The earlier date also means exposure and promotion for the Australian films being released in December/January. As a result, the cut-off date for eligible films is being brought forward, running from January 1 to October 9.
In a change to the guidelines, eligible features must be publicly exhibited in a commercial cinema for at least seven consecutive days in at least four. capital cities including Sydney and Melbourne.. The previous stipulation was five capital cities.
Explaining that adjustment, AFI/Aacta CEO Damian Trewhella tells If, "We've softened the rules a bit because we...

The troubled Australian Film Institute | Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts has appointed four new board members: Ian Sutherland, Alaric McAusland, Geoff Brown and Russel Howcroft.
The renewed board, which has been expanded to nine members in total from seven, will need to tackle the organisation's precarious financial situation. Despite a much-hyped move to Sydney in 2010 and an annual $1.7 million commitment from the Nsw government, the awards show lost its major sponsor and has since been lobbying for an increase in screen funding.
The Australian has taken an in-depth look at the position of Aacta here and also makes mention of the If Awards, run by Intermedia (which also owns the If Magazine and this website).
Sutherland, an Amalgamated Holdings executive and producer, was elected in February, replacing Amanda Higgs who chose not stand again after two terms. Morry Schwartz also recently stepped down from the board after seven years.

Cereal maker Kellogg’s has appointed Y&R Group Sydney’s Vml as its digital agency for Australia and New Zealand, dropping incumbent agency Tongue.
The appointed is welcome news for Y&R, which brought in new MD Andrew Dowling to run the struggling Sydney office late last year following the departure of group CEO Russel Howcroft to Ten.
The appointment comes at a period of considerable change for the typically steady Kellogg’s account. The company hired Leo Burnett Sydney last year, breaking Jwt’s exclusive hold on the business.
And late 2012, Kellogg’s marketing chief John Broome said that he wanted to take more risks this year as the company eyes faster growth in new categories.
The announcement from Kellogg’s:
Kellogg Anz today announced that Sydney-based digital marketing agency Vml will take on all Kellogg digital work for the cereal and snacks company across Australia and New Zealand.

Y&R has chosen an executive from within its network to head up its struggling Sydney operation, appointing the CEO of Y&R Indonesia as managing director of Y&R Group Sydney.
The announcement comes two months after news emerged that Y&R Group Australia and New Zealand CEO Russel Howcroft would be moving to Ten. Howcroft’s regional role has since been scrapped in favour of a local structure “to get closer to clients”.
Andrew Dowling – an Australian who started his career at Patts Sydney – was chosen to lead Gpy&R Sydney, IdeaWorks and Vml after a global search that took seven months and involved three recruitment consultancies.

With a history of turning around struggling companies and a reputation for ambition. Ten CEO James Warburton is not afraid of a challenge. Brooke Hemphill asks if he’s the man to revive the struggling network.
“I’ve always wanted to be a CEO by the time I’m 40,” a young James Warburton told Allan Medforth, his onetime boss who he worked closely with at Universal McCann in the early 2000s. Warburton was at Channel Seven when he made the statement, in the role of chief sales officer, but it was not the first time he had spoken to Medforth about his career plans.
The comment couldn’t be far from his mind now that he sits in the big chair at Ten, two years after his 40th birthday. Nine months into the role, he might be wondering if he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

Adman turned author Nigel Marsh, the former boss of Y&R, is the brainchild of a nude ocean swim in Sydney, which is being sponsored by juice brand nudie.
The event, called Sydney Skinny, is to take place at Cobblers Beach, Middle Head on 17 February, and is being touted as the world’s first nude ocean swim.
It costs $35 to enter, and supporters can attend for $15 or $30 for the family. No spectators will be allowed.
Marsh has already been in contact with industry types such as Gruen stars Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft to ask if they will participate. They are yet to confirm.
Marsh, who is himself taking part, told Mumbrella: “On one hand it is a cheeky, large scale skinny dip in Sydney’s Middle Harbour to raise funds for a national park. But the intention is for this to be so much more than getting your kit off for a good cause.

In a move that looks to improve Gpy&R’s creative offering in all of its offices, Ben Coulson has been promoted to chief creative officer of Y&R Australia/New Zealand.
Coulson was previously Ecd of Gpy&R Melbourne – the most awarded Australian agency in Cannes this year – and the promotion will give him creative control of the Gpy&R in New Zealand and Australia, where Patts is particularly weak in Sydney.
Tony Granger, global chief creative officer of Y&R, said in a statement: “Ben is a remarkable creative leader. He’s passionate, he’s smart and relentlessly focused on creating work that is exciting, innovative and inspirational. This gives our clients more creative firepower across the region.”

Y&R Brands has announced another change to its Sydney office following the appointment of Jason Buckley as COO last week, promoting Bart Pawlak to creative director.

Y&R COO Jason Buckley: "Sydney is our focus"

Gruen Planet has moved to reassure its viewers that Y&R Brands boss Russel Howcroft’s move to Ten will not spell an end to his appearing on the ABC show.
After several fans took to Facebook to express their concerns about Howcroft’s job move, Gruen posted a message saying that Howcroft would still be allowed to appear.
Howcroft would not be the first media person working for a rival organisation with a regular ABC gig. Alan Kohler, who writes for News Limited’s Business Spectator is a regular on ABc television.
Along with Leo Burnett’s Todd Sampson, Howcroft has been with the Zapruder’s Other Films-created show since The Gruen Transfer first started pulling back the curtain on the advertising world nearly five years ago. last week, Gruen Transfer was revealed as Australia’s favourite TV show at the Mumbrella Awards. Russell Howcroft: Y&R to Ten
Y&R Brands Australia and New Zealand boss and Gruen Planet pundit Russel Howcroft has joined Network Ten, as widely speculated in recent weeks.
The well connected Melburnian takes on the role on executive general manager early next year, and will relocate to his home town. However, Howcroft will maintain ties with Y&R as non-executive chairman of the group.
His departure has prompted a restructure at Y&R, with the main move seeing chief financial officer Jason Buckley taking on the role of COO of the Sydney offices of Y&R Brands, which includes the agencies Gpy&R, Vml and Ideaworks.

Russel Howcroft is set to vacate one of the most powerful jobs in Australian advertising, Mumbrella understands.
A brief is in market to replace the prominent executive and TV pundit, who is two years and two months into the role of CEO of Y&R Brands Australia and New Zealand. Speculation has been rife for some time that he is to take on a Melbourne-based role for Channel Ten.
Howcroft joined Y&R in 2010 after a decade at Brandhouse to run a stable of agencies that includes Gpy&R and Ideaworks.
Howcroft has endured mixed fortunes during his time at the helm of Y&R, with iconic agency brand The Campaign Place closing, the Sydney office of Gpy&R struggling and Patts’ office in Melbourne – Howcroft’s home town – the only brand to be really firing.
He also oversaw the Australian roll out of digital agency Vml in February this year.

News Limited will next week continue its paywall evangelising with a live streamed debate aimed at making the case for its digital subscriptiuon strategy.
The move comes as the Herald Sun moves to a freemium – a mixture of free content and paid premium content – from Monday. It folows in the footprints of The Australian which took the same route last last year.
The company has updated its Future Of Journalism discussion site with articles and videos and last week conducted blogger briefings.
It also did the same before The Australian launched its paywall.
Stephen Browning, director of communications for News Limited, told Mumbrella: “The reason why we decided to host dedicated briefing and discussion sessions with bloggers was simple – they are important, influential, voices. They attract large audiences who listen to what they say and trust their judgement. So, increasingly, we are engaging with them in exactly the same way...
