Some traditions in the Diablo games, just like the Lord of Terror himself, never die. The iconic Diablo boss The Butcher is a prime, and evil, example of that concept. While he was missing from Diablo 2, he returned for seconds in Diablo 3, and The Butcher will also come bearing a platter of pain in Diablo 4. If you plan on playing that game’s Open Beta, you can even sample this boss before the game’s retail release. You just have to get a little lucky (or unlucky) to find and fight him.
As Diablo veterans probably remember, The Butcher was the very first boss players faced in the original Diablo. This demon quickly left an impression thanks to all the NPCs who built him up by talking about him, his unique room filled with butchered corpses, and his haunting catchphrase of “Ahh…fresh meat!” Unfortunately, Diablo 4 doesn’t give The...

I was hopelessly addicted to Diablo 4‘s recent Early Access beta, and I’m already looking forward to losing myself in the game once more during its upcoming Open beta weekend. Then again, that’s always been Diablo‘s thing. It’s the franchise that turned classic role-playing into an addictive action experience. Competitors have come along that do loot-based action-role-playing as well as (or better) than Diablo, but there is a magic to the Diablo franchise that can be hard to replicate. When Diablo is good, it’s the surest and most fulfilling way for any action gaming or role-playing fan to lose hours of their lives.
However, as I played more and more Diablo 4, I thought a little less about Diablo and a little more about the game that has come to dominate the mainstream loot-based gaming scene since Diablo 3′s release: Destiny. Even in the game’s earliest days,...

With the Sam Raimi-produced 65 now playing in theaters, genre fans are getting something we’ve been craving for years – a big budget dinosaur thriller Not part of the Jurassic Park franchise. The film’s premise of an astronaut crash landing on Earth during the age of the dinosaurs sounds exactly like something that would have hit theaters and drive-ins back in the 60s and 70s when a healthy stream of dinosaur themed B-movie fare was released.
65 seems like a perfect genre mash-up of sci-fi and survival horror. Back in 1969, another genre hybrid about dinosaurs was set loose – The Valley of Gwangi. The hook? Cowboys vs. dinosaurs. Hell, if the movie came out today I guarantee that Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs would be the title.
The Valley of Gwangi was spearheaded by stop motion effects legend Ray Harryhausen and his long-time producing partner, Charles Schneer. Harryhausen needs no introduction. His...

Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury is getting replaced as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the seasoned one-eyed wonder is not happy about his demotion. In a new ad for the brand-new game Marvel Snap, Fury storms into a S.H.I.E.L.D. office to voice his outrage about losing a position he’s held for over a decade. After explaining that there’s nothing they can do about the new chain of command, Fury meets his replacement, a young and bubbly gamer with a knack for building the ultimate superhero team.
Effective today, I’m being replaced as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Because now, @MarvelSnap gives players control over the entire Marvel Universe. You think you can do as good of a job as I did? We'll see about that. pic.twitter.com/8NcdLg1VJK

Chile’s hottest writer Julio Rojas (“The Life of Fish”) and Spain’s Goya-winning Belen Cuesta, who stars in “The Endless Trench” and the “Balenciaga” series, are attached to “La Torca del Diablo,” a sci-fi thriller from Chile’s Canal 13 and Spanish producer Miguel Asensio of Tiki Group.
A client of former CinemaChile head Constanza Arena’s new talent agency and project incubator, Agencia La Luz, Rojas created and wrote “Case 63,” Spotify’s leading scripted original podcast in Latin America, with an English-language version in development, starring Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac. He also co-wrote Pablo Fendrik’s Latino sci-fi series “The Shelter,” among other notable credits.
“The film will be shot in Spain and is aimed squarely at the Spanish market,” said Canal 13’s Matías Ovalle, head of scripted content and executive producer, who conceived the storyline with Rojas. Film is part of Canal 13’s international development and...

Diablo Immortal offers a variety of timed Zone Events, but the sad fact of the matter is that many of them are simply not worth setting your watch to. One of the notable exceptions to that rule is the Haunted Carriage event.
While it might not seem that impressive compared to some of Diablo Immortal‘s other events, the Haunted Carriage’s bi-weekly patrols really do set a pretty high bar for Zone Event rewards. Who cares about massive boss battles against world-destroying bosses when one of the simpler events in the game is the one that rewards you with the best loot?
Here’s what you need to know about Diablo Immortal‘s Haunted Carraige event.

Diablo Immortal doesn’t always make the most out of its Mmo design elements, but the game’s use of World Bosses is honestly pretty cool. There’s nothing like seeing a server full of players come together to defeat some of the biggest bads in the game. Of course, few World Boss fights in Diablo Immortal are as rewarding and confusing as the battles against Ancient Nightmare and Lord Martanos.
Affectionately known as the “Big Guy” and “Little Guy,” respectively, Ancient Nightmare and Lord Martanos are two big bosses that initially appear to be separate encounters but are actually tied together in some pretty interesting ways. Given how hard it can be to find those bosses and properly battle both of them, though, it...

Generally speaking, Diablo Immortal throws a ton of ratings, stats, and mechanics at you in an attempt to generate enough confusion to eventually incentivize you to spend a little money to make things easier. However, you’ll reach a point when you realize that most of the game’s stats all bow to the importance of your character’s Combat Rating.
For as important as your Combat Rating can be in Diablo Immortal, the game doesn’t exactly do a good job of letting you know what your current Combat Rating actually is or how to raise it. By the time you need to start answering those questions, you’ll likely start to feel like there’s not much you can do to improve your situation.

Diablo 4 made a somewhat surprising appearance during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, but the most surprising thing about the latest Diablo 4 gameplay footage shared during that show may be the many ways that the game is shaping up to be weirdly similar to Diablo Immortal.
Actually, one of the first things we see in the new Diablo 4 gameplay trailer is a look at Diablo 4‘s character creator/customizer: a feature that Diablo Immortal introduced to the series. While Diablo 4 will undoubtedly feature a more robust character creator than Diablo Immortal did, it’s interesting to see that the Diablo 4 team really wants to emphasize the various ways you’ll be able to make your character look distinct.
Of course, that might have something to do...

Diablo Immortal isn’t just a mobile game with questionable microtransactions; it’s the first Diablo game that tries to incorporate more traditional Mmo elements. Few of those classic Mmo concepts fit the Diablo series better than the addition of world bosses like the Fleshcraft Hydra and Sandstone Golem.
As is the case with many MMOs, Diablo Immortal‘s world bosses are not easy to beat or even challenge. They’re designed to offer epic encounters that require a group effort to overcome, and that’s exactly what they provide. Interestingly, though, half the battle against Diablo Immortal‘s world bosses typically involves figuring out how to summon them in the first place.
That being the case, here’s what you need to know about summoning,...

By now, you’ve probably heard about Diablo Immortal‘s microtransactions and the many ways those microtransactions have hurt the game’s reputation. In order to understand how bad things can get, though, you need to understand why some gamers are spending thousands of dollars on in-game items known as Legendary Gems.
Legendary Gems are…confusing. Indeed, some players are speculating that Immortal‘s Legendary Gem system was made as confusing as possible in order to incentivize people to spend money and skip some of the confusion. There may be something to that particular conspiracy theory.
Basically, Legendary Gems are enhancement jewels that can be inserted into your primary gear. So, let’s say you’ve just found the best weapon, helmet, or pair of boots for your character.
