James McAvoy is a master thief in Danny Boyle’s “Trance”, a remake of a British movie that I don’t think anyone outside of the UK has seen. You won’t be able to say that about this version of “Trance”, though, not with Boyle’s name attached. After all, this guy made the movie about the fella who cut off his own arm after getting it stuck in a bolder watchable. Dude’s talented. Check out the clip for yourself below. Try not to use what you’ve learned here to pull off an actual robbery, though. Danny Boyle won’t be there to help you with slick camerawork and whatnot. A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated.

Fox Searchlight released the red band trailer for Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle’s unconventional heist thriller “Trance.”
The film stars James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson, Vincent Cassel, Danny Sapani, and Sam Creed.
“Trance,” directed by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “127 Hours”) and co-written by Oscar®-nominated long term collaborator John Hodge (“Shallow Grave,” “Trainspotting”) is a seductive and enigmatic thriller starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.
Fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious.
In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly – and perhaps shrewdly – to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

Somehow a movie called “Trance” about a criminal who gets put into hypnosis in order to recover some criminal-inclined memory and Danny Boyle just seems to go together like peanut butter and jelly. Check out the first trailer for the “Slumdog Millionaire” director’s latest, “Trance”, based on a British TV movie of the same name. Though I doubt if the original movie had this much visual and musical pizazz. I could be wrong, of course. Apparently getting James McAvoy to remember some hidden memories includes sleeping around with Rosario Dawson, who is playing the hypnotherapist. Hey, a criminal’s gotta make sacrifices, I guess… A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated. Also starring Vincent Cassel as the bad guy,...

Danny Boyle’s visually inclined film “Trance” is a crime drama starring Rosario Dawson and James McAvoy, as well as a menacing Vincent Cassel. This is apparently Boyle’s first film where a woman is his main lead, and he calls it an “emotionally charged” noir film. Plus, it’ll probably look really, really cool with a great soundtrack. Get your first official looks at the film below, including a behind-the-scenes shot with the Boylester himself doing what he does. The film is a remake of a 2001 British movie of the same name by writer/director Joe Ahearne. That one co-starred Susannah Harker of “Ultraviolet” fame. A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated. “Trance” stars James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson,...
